The toad turned out as useless as my previous efforts, looks & tastes OK but has sunken soggy bits, can I blame my oven yet?

What you cooking it in Farway? I find toad needs a metal roasting tin to minimise soggy bits rather than Pyrex or ceramic, ideally one that can be popped on a hot hob ring for a few minutes while you add the batter. That said my sis and DS1 would fight you for any soggy bits, apparently they are the best bit!
Thanks for the hot hob tip, I'll try that next time. It was a metal tin this time round though because I'd heard Pyrex etc are not ideal for Toad. Next time it'll be on the hob while batter is added, probably burn the place down then
I had the cold LO for dinner last night BTW, so none was wasted

More rain overnight, seems just further north in Hampshire had 1.5 inches of rain last night, I can well believe that. It's stopped now, but grey, soggy & dull

In view of the weather forecast, I defrosted some diced beef overnight and now have a beef casserole in the slow cooker for tonight's dinner, and it's smelling tasty already. Dumplings to be added later
Lunch will feature cheese between bread, either bog-standard sarnie or a toastie

Blackbirds are feasting on my yellow pyracantha this morning, here's one

  • My thermeter says it is 15.6, but I'm feeling much warmer today. I have lots of layers on. It is has been pouring with rain since last night. My husband was soaking wet when he got home.

I saw that article about balance, but I only just read the link. I couldn't do it for 10 seconds as I had to touch the wall slightly, but then I have had problems with vertigo on and off for years. I might try doing that exercise a few times a day when the kettle is boiling.

I have just had a toasted bagel with vegan bacon and a cup of green tea.

Glad the toad didn't go to waste Farway.  :)
Wednesday you might find these useful to compliment the stuff in the article. They can be really effective but you need to keep at them even if they don't seem to be doing much Cawthorne_Cooksey_Habituation_Exercises.pdf (balanceanddizziness.org)

Thanks, I will take a look. They did give me exercises at the time, but I can't remember what they were. The vertigo hasn't been as bad at all for years now, but it does occasionally come back. It doesn't have any trigger as far as I can tell.

  • Slept late this morning, the hour has really affected me this time. Typically it was an office day so rushed round and then felt out of sorts all day 😶

Lunch was the rest of the roast carrot, mixed grains and blue cheese salad. Made pasta puttanesca tonight, served with broccoli.

    Great photo Farway

Horrid wet and windy day here , I'm just glad I didn't have to drive to work as there was quite a bit of road flooding around here ☔️

Work was busy we are playing catch off after I was off last week and the manager was sick with CV all week. I did sign off at 5pm as I was going out and meeting a couple of friends to watch a National Theatre showing of the Seagull which started at 7pm.

Lunch was a mushroom omelette with fried tomato. I'm not sure if I would have brought the omelette maker if I hadn't been gifted it but it is handy and I popped the tomatoes in one halve

Dinner a tweaked JO one pot pasta dish, with sausage, fennel and the last of the sad mushrooms 😋 so quick and easy the sausages and pasta from the freezer, the most complicated was removing the skin from the sausages 😁

  • It was raining most of yesterday, but it is much chillier today but at least sunny and dry.

I had clementines, tea and then toast with houmous for breakfast.

    Good morning everyone,
    Gorgeous photo Farway
I think mushrooms would work very well in that recipe Brambling, I might try that the next time I make it. The bacon and bean version is on this week's meal plan.
Cold, wet and grey here today after a fairly decent day yesterday.
My greenhouse pane has turned up undamaged.  :)
Tesco have been and gone, no subs or unavailable items. My turkey arrives this afternoon so I'm glad I cleared a space for it yesterday.
DS1 is coming for dinner tonight, I'm cooking peri peri pork steaks, potatoes & peppers, green beans and broccoli. Lunch will be LO curry.

Today is our sunny day, but reverse of the coin it was the first frost as well. Not a hard one and dahlias and tomatoes are still there if battered a bit by the recent weather

Out earlier collecting prescription and chiropodist appointment, both are adjacent so nice and easy

Meals today, yet another cheese toastie I think, using up last couple of stale slices
Dinner, RM cheese & onion flan, with HM AF chips & salad, more to get some healthy greens inside me than ideal meal
