Usual sharing of the weather from Farway today 🙂 it had rained first thing but stopped as I was getting up and turned into a dry enough day for my neighbour to mow my lawn :) I'm assuming last mow of the year.  It so green now and hard to believe how brown and crispy it was not long ago

I had my email from octopus as well Farway, until they use up some of my £200 credit I'm not increasing my DD and they agreed to that, I'm hoping that and my £400 rebate will see me good for a while.  One of the benefits of living in the SE is very little snow if any and we are sheltered by the Downs here so it doesn't get as cold as a lot of places

lunch was repeat of yesterday cauliflower soup with a little gammon chopped up and stirred in.  Dinner was soused mackerel with new potatoes and salad. Tomorrow will be similar which is the CFO way!

  • Had to drag myself back to work today after a lovely long weekend. No CFOing yesterday (unless you count porridge 😂) as I was out for a fab lunch and walk meet up so smoked salmon sandwich for tea.

Made pea soup over the weekend, and chucked the LO Parma ham from my tapas the other night in. So lunch was a portion of that with a YS posh cheese scone from the freezer 😋. Tuna and artichoke pesto pasta with side of broccoli tonight.

Did you watch Karen Pirie, Brambling? I caught up this evening, really enjoyed it. Have also just watched Inside Man…completely confused 🙃

    Good afternoon everyone,
Back to old clothes and porridge after an indulgent weekend, however, we are back to reality with a bang as my sis tested positive for COVID this morning after feeling a bit yukky last night which she put down to tiredness and overindulgence. The rest of us are negative so far.! The house was amazing though oddly laid out and absolutely massive, it was around 400 steps from the lounge to the kitchen! My house isn't tiny but it's 35 steps from my front to back doors. Very comfortable rather than grand though. Lots of gorgeous food and far too much wine consumed. We discovered Pitlochry has an outstanding butcher and we made a detour via there on the way home. We mainly cooked but went out for lunch on the Sunday to a restaurant on the Tay. Decent but not what you would call a destination place so it was a surprise to hear "is that Hector?"  from a nearby table to discover it was the couple who live three doors down! They were in the area for the day and had found the place by chance! Scotland is definitely a village!
Last night I had a Forfar bridie for dinner and DS2 a chicken curry pie from the butcher, both delicious. The bridie was huge so LOs for lunch. Tonight we are having some more of their pork & black pudding sausages after trying them on Saturday. We'll have those with mash, onion gravy and various veg.
Both dogs were very well behaved though I think we "broke" Hector the poor love was exhausted last night.

Started dry so went up to do a bit at my volunteer border, not much but looks a tad better now I've cut some plants back, just settling down to half-time coffee & biscuits when the rain started, so called it a day

Did you watch Karen Pirie, Brambling? I caught up this evening, really enjoyed it. Have also just watched Inside Man…completely confused 🙃
I started watching it but couldn't understand them with the accent & my hearing, so had to give that up :'( . I have to do that with some programmes, annoying, but there you go. Subtitles work for me at times but not perfect, especially if they are out of synch with the speech

Lunch today was HM ploughman's, minus the crusty bread
Dinner, I never had the lamb mince last night, just didn't fancy it, so possibly HM lamb burger, fried eggs, baked beans & HM AF chips tonight

  • Grey and damp start today, did dry up and the sun tried on and off but quite drizzly in between. House felt a bit cold but managed all day wfh without putting the heating on.

LO tuna pasta for lunch (warmed up) and early tea of beans with toast before swimming tonight. Had a crumpet and jam with my cuppa while watching bake off 😉

I enjoyed Karen Pirie as well  :) I have read some Val McDermid books but not these. I've recorded Inside Man and will make sure I'm not distracted if it's confusing 🥴

I'm glad you had a good weekend Caronc, I hope you're sister hasn't over shared  :)

I've spent the whole day thinking it's Monday  :| not sure why as yesterday was busy.

snap on the pea soup JKS i was going to use my gammon stock to make ham and split pea soup but was out of split peas (or they are hiding 🫣) so made with garden peas. I chucked in some gammon.  Dinner was LO soused mackerel with new potatoes and salad

Woke up to find my heating had clicked on, it must be on remote control from EDF because I only increased the DD this week
Must say I was glad it was on despite the costs. Nice & sunny out but looks like a cold breeze blowing

Today had to be sort out posh f finger day, BBE is today so freezer beckons but may AF a couple for lunch
The lamb mince continues, so last of the lamb burger jobbies tonight, with HM AF chips & use up last of the beans, certainly not a salad day

    Good morning everyone,
I'm laughing at your "lamb burger jobbies" Farway, the word has a very different meaning up here so conjures up a less than appealing image lol!  ;)
So far we are still negative apart from my poor sis who is feeling rather rubbish and has had to head to bed. She had her fourth jab about ten days ago so hopefully her symptoms will be short lived.
Domestics and a catch up with my voluntary admin for me today.
The butcher's bangers were delicious and there's no LOs
:( so it will be cheese or eggs for lunch. I have HM chessy chilli meatballs defrosting for dinner so just need to prep some tomato sauce and cook pasta later.

  • I’m in bed with a hot water bottle 😊. Heating went on for a couple of hours this evening though, sure it shouldn’t be this cold already…

Two long meetings today so was very tired this evening. Last of my use up leave Fridays off this week so last working day of the week for me tomorrow 🙃

Caught up with the second part of Inside Man tonight, still confused!

Lunch was some of the pea and ham soup with the end of a baguette from the freezer. Made a quick sweet chilli broccoli and prawn noodle thing tonight.

JKS I think last year we had a mild October I know I didn't put my heating on until my sister visited at the end of October. My heating is still not required  :) and I pottered in the garden lunchtime in short sleeves

I went to see Swan Lake tonight at the local theatre it was originally booked for September 2020 for the Russian ballet, so two years late and another not so good company 😐 they weren't bad they just weren't great!

Lunch was a mug of pea and ham soup (snap JKS) and dinner was a portion of chilli from the freezer
