I had problems sleeping last night and was still awake after 3am and then the neighbours further into the close started their building work at 8  :/ so cba to go out today just a pottering kind of day.  Clearing u see my sink I found signs of a mouse, it doesn't smell and nothing chewed so I'm hoping it was a flying visit when it realised no food, I'll keep a eye out when it gets colder  :#  his lordship hasn't shown any interest in the cupboard 🐭

lunch was hummus and grated carrot wrap with salad.  I CBA to make what I planned with some pork mince so I made a couple of scotch eggs with it (I added some wild garlic pesto from the freezer) and made coleslaw to go with some salad

A very bright Autumnal morning, time for an extra jumper! Very glad I added an extra top topping to my bed last night it would've been too chilly without. Not time for heating on yet but could be soon

Being chilly this morning I just fancied a nice cooked breakfast for once, instead of usual cereal, so it was cheapo bacon bits with fried eggs on toast and brown sauce, ideal greasy spoon breakfast which was just what I fancied for a change

I think I'll continue the dead pig day with a BLT sarnie for lunch
And being cold outside I've taken a HM beef stew & dumplings out to defrost for dinner, nice & warming later

    Good morning everyone,
I'm not sure where yesterday went to but I seemed to potter all day but achieve very little!
Overcast and chilly here this morning, there's a definite feel of Autumn in the air.
Just enjoying a cuppa before bashing out a piece of pork fillet ready to stuff with black pudding for dinner later.  We'll have it with roasties, mushrooms, green beans and peppercorn sauce. LO chicken wings for lunch.
  • Bit chilly again but lovely bright day until mid-afternoon. Out to Homebase for compost this morning, roads very busy heading towards the supermarkets 🙄

Made the shed shelving unit then planted up some bits and did some deadheading and watering. Voluntary admin this afternoon.

Lunch was quiche, beetroot salad, rocket and bread and butter. Made a batch of chimichurri this evening to use up an enormous pack of coriander. Had some on a lamb leg steak for dinner, with new potatoes, cabbage and carrots.

Cardigan came out of the drawer this morning 🙂 duvet isn't back on the bed yet but I was glad I added a blanket to the duvet cover I've been sleeping under.  One benefit of being of a certain age is internal heating especially at night  B)

JKS the SMs are closed for 24 hours people have to ensure they won't  starve 🙄

Vouchers for the garden centre came this week and included a free hot drink with a slice of cake, my sister also had one, as it needed to be used by end of the month we went up this afternoon to use it  :) it's only a five minute drive away.  I forgot how slow their weekend staff are, his get up and go obviously had gone and then he turned to serve my sister without giving me my tray, I went around the counter and grabbed it and got a look 🙄 having said that their almond and cherry cake was really nice 😁

lunch was crackers and pate with salad, I had picked it up half price YS on Friday but was dated the 20th the other half was frozen.  After cake and gossip it was too late to start roasting the chicken and I wasn't roast dinner hungry so dinner was jacket potato with cheese and LO coleslaw

Oh, compost JKS, I keep meaning to get some but never do, always other things doing at the time
Dull & grey this morning, but at least not raining for those on the funeral route

Another warming breakfast today,a bacon butty this morning
Lunch, last of the bacon in another butty
Dinner, I've taken a portion of own LO roast chicken out to defrost, I'll have cold with more salad with boiled baby spuds. If I feel adventurous, I may just make Coronation chicken out of it, sort of go with the day

    Good morning everyone,
Overcast and chilly here this morning.
I had to be up and organised sharp this morning as the chap was coming to finish the front fencing. He's just finished and as always I'm delighted with his work.
Hector is off to the beach with DS2, DS2's mate and his pup, a 7 month old Australian Shepherd who is massive. She'll keep Hector on his toes!
Defrosted a load of chicken bones to roast for stock. I seem to have gathered a huge amount - no wonder I'm struggling for freezer space.
There's lots more tomatoes ready to pick and that will be the bulk of the crop over. My Sungold and black cherry plants have had poor yields this year so will probably just take thodr plants down and ripen any green ones indoors.
LO pork for lunch and tonight I'm trying JO's one pan salmon in a bag from the One Pot Wonders book.

  • Strange old day, watched far more of the funeral than I expected to - was fascinated by the ceremony and pageantry of it all - and then didn’t feel like doing much else. I’ve cleared the ironing pile and been for a walk (lots of people in the park but quite a calm feeling everywhere).

Lunch was feta and spinach parcels (from sainsburys via the freezer), olives and beetroot salad. Made chorizo and chickpea stew with added spinach tonight (LOs for tomorrow 😉), served with a hunk of nice bread for dipping.

Very taken with Jamie’s one pan meatballs and rice recipe tonight 😋🤔

Another short week coming up (even shorter for me as still on use up leave Fridays off 😊)

    Good morning everyone,
I didn't watch the funeral but saw the highlights and yes it was a very fitting send off.
Trying to get my proverbial in gear for going away, the list of things to organise is daunting but the world won't end as long as crucial stuff isn't forgotten like my meds. We are only going to be 6 miles from a shop!
Domestics for me today before we head to my sister's for dinner.
The JO salmon in a bag was very. very good and easily adjusted for CFO. It would work well with chicken, pork or white fish. I used toasted flaked almonds instead of smoked ones.
