I hope you have a great weekend Caronc I imagine there will be lots of lovely food
.
We'll still lucky weather wise, it's been warm enough today for short sleeves whilst indoorsim hoping to keep the heating off for another month
Farway I was reading on line that gout is really on the rise at the moment and that not enough people are put on the preventative treatment quick enough. I'll hold off for now but I'm sure I'll have another attack (warned by both my brother and a sister who have had it for years) I try diet wise and then get fish and seafood withdrawalI don't drink a lot so can't blame alcohol. The article did say if it's inherited there's not a lot you can do about it🙄
work has been busy, one of my colleagues has been signed off sick and we are a very small team.I made a batch of cauliflower and broccoli soup lunch time to use it up and will probably freeze most of it, it cool down and has really thickened, you can almost cut it so it may do more portions than expected as I think it will need watering down, it may need croutons and maybe some gammon or bacon when it's served
lunch was a coronation chicken sandwich. Dinner a small cheese and tomato pizza with extra veggie toppings and cheese. it was a little cheap Sainsbury fresh pizza which froze and was good valueLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -
Rainy start to the day, just drizzly stuff, but had to go out and collect my prescription regardless, it's still warm thoughBrambling said:Farway I was reading on line that gout is really on the rise at the moment and that not enough people are put on the preventative treatment quick enough. I heard that as well, must have been some Press Release 'cos it's everywhere, I'm trying diet in a way, but I see conflicting opinions about purines in food, seems it may be same as eggs, butter + cholesterol, bad, no they're good, no bad, no still good, etc, ten experts with fifteen different opinions. Now a spot of conspiracy, what does the world have in common that maybe triggered gout? Hmmm, any mass medication in the last couple of years you can think of ?Food today, back to school for lunch, salmon paste & cucumber sarnie, just fancy something easy like thatDinner, I have LO savoury mince so nuke a portion of that and maybe nuke LO boiled new spuds to go with itEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
Had a really lovely day off, hugely helped by gorgeous weather. Got two loads of washing line dried and had a really enjoyable walk to a farm shop to stock up on chicken thighs and sausages. (A piece of tiffin may also have fallen into my bag 😉)
Also did grocery shopping, filled up with petrol, hoovered and mopped downstairs as well as catching up on the latest episode of The Suspect.
Lunch was scrambled eggs and mushrooms on toasted bagel. Steak, feta and artichoke salad with new potatoes tonight 😋
Now watching the tennis while recording Strictly, which I’ll whizz through, missing out the “padding” 🙃0 -

JKS I also recorded strictly and skipped through most of the talking. The new ITV police drama on Sunday night looks good (Karen Pirie) it's based on a series of books from Val McDermid
Dentist checkup this morning and more nhs cost cutting, it's now a year until my next one, my annual free eye test (my sister has glaucoma) is now every two years. At lease it meant a late start for work
I popped to Waitrose on the way back from a friend at 7pm tonight, I just needed a few basics, fruit, veg, milk and yoghurt. A couple of large mackerel reduced to £1.50 at the fish counter and a piece of tuna which was a quarter of its usual price also fell into the basket as did a reduced small lemon tart
Lunch was a portion cauliflower and broccoli soup which I thinned down with some water and was very tastyI cooked a M&S small gammon lunchtime which is very nice
that could be as with vouchers it ended up free
I picked at it during the afternoon so dinner was the lemon tart from Waitrose 😋

'Morning folks, looks a lovely Autumn day outside, ideal for walking in a wood for instance, or along the Prom, not that I'll be doing eitherWhat I hope to do is sort through a huge pile of papers, the "I'll just leave that here for a bit" type, old garden catalogues etc, the pile is getting a bit of a danger to health now should it topple it'll kill someoneLunch, I have some Essential range sausage rolls from my delivery, so I'll sample them for lunch with brown dipping sauceDinner, last of the use up LO savoury mince & mash, nuked, give me space in the fridge for tomorrow's W8rose deliveryEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0

A lovely day here as well, short sleeve weather still
I needed to go into town today to bank a cheque I've been carrying around, all of £12.50 from DVLA from my old car tax. I was lazy and drove down and luckily was given someone's parking ticket with 75 minutes left just what I needed for a quick look around the farmers market etc. i ended up carrying the cardi I took with me. I picked up another gammon in M&S as I'm enjoying the one I cooked yesterdayand some books in the charity shop (new to me authors) they will get passed on once read. I picked up some Sussex charmer cheese in Waitrose at 20% off so I avoided the stall with Sussex cheeses so I wouldn't be led astray with Brighton blue or their sheep milk cheese Brighton Ewe 😋
lunch was a gammon and piccalilli crusty roll, dinner was supposed to be a pork and apple FS burger and the last of the oven chips but I grabbed the roast parsnips in error (both Aunteand it was too late once they were in the AF 🙄 they were still tasty but not as planned, I made some coleslaw and salad.
I soused the mackerel I picked up reduced yesterday in Waitrose and that's in the fridge, I'm trying a new recipe which is simmer the vinegar with onion and spices and pore over the raw filleted mackerel and leave for 24 hours rather than do it in the oven using my mum's recipe I'm hoping it works as it saves oven time.

Nice day here but not as warm as yesterday and did get grey and a bit drizzly this afternoon. Two loads of washing mostly dry on the line. Pottered around this morning then went swimming just before lunch. Bed has been changed, hoovered up the stairs and upstairs, made some soup, popped out to run a few errands.
Lunch was quiche, baked beans, bread and butter. Tapas (if we’re being posh, picky tea if we’re not) with white wine whilst watching strictly tonight - few bits of scampi and a spring roll from the freezer plus an M&S tapas selection, a RTC dip with carrot sticks, some baguette and the end of a jar of roasted peppers.
Kept thinking it was Sunday today 😂0 -
Still sunny with a breeze. My W8rose delivery arrived on time with three very suitable subs, bread, Cathedral C cheese & No. 1 pork medallions, everything else there and well in date, now usual quandary of what to eat first, it all looks goodLunch will be more of the Essential sausage rolls, with B sauce. They aren't bad at all, certainly had worse for more money. I'd buy again when I feel like themDinner has to be salad, I'm knee-deep in cucumbers & lettuce now I've had a delivery, a toss up between grilled pork medallions or posh fish FsEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0

Warm day here, my washing was dried 🙂 although I did put on a long sleeve T shirt on to go out
Early lunch for me of cauliflower soup with some gammon stirred through. I went to the National Theatre on screen showing of Much Ado About Nothing which started at 1.45pm (encore showing) I realised at the interval that the person sitting behind me was a good friend of my sister, pre lockdown we used to go the screenings together after bumping into each other at one. Unfortunately she has had a very long recovery from cancer and other than hospital visits had stopped going out. We will probably go to the next one together depending on how she feels nearer the time 🙂
Dinner was meant to be Mackerel but I wasn't feeling very fishy tonight, it's soused so it will keep, I had a cheese and gammon toasted sandwich with some salad insteadLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -
Looking very autumn out now, dull, wet overnight & a cold wind, had nuked scrambled eggs on toast for a warming breakfast in place of my standard cerealJust had e-mail from EDF, gas, need to up the DD with the new prices coming, so I've just done that, fortunately with the £400 rebate plus the £200 OAP heating bung I'm fine with the new costs this year but feel for those who will be strugglingHad a change of lunch plan, was going to be last of the sausage rolls but with the weather I think I'll open up the pack of W8rose lamb mince and have lamb burger thing in a sarnie for lunch, with savoury lamb mince & tatties for dinner, should also give LOs to last a few daysEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0
