How annoying about the door Farway, Does it need to be a builder or could it be a handyman try job and attract someone who does smaller jobs

Can I assume you are pass the covid danger zone Caronc ?

After a horrid stormy evening we've had a nice day worth just a shower over lunch.  I drove out to the farm shop this morning and as well as F&V picked up some sausages, bacon and a turkey drumstick.  Their turkey drumsticks are still only £1.50 and will give me a lot of soup 🙂

Catch up and a bacon sandwich around at my sister's lunchtime and a piece of HM flapjack 🙂 I walked into town from there I didn't need much just some spices from the little shop in town which decanters them into small packs and a nice chat to the owner who has run it for 30 years. I had a wander around town but nothing else tempted me

Dinner was a lazy jacket potato with the rest of the baked beans and cheese with some salad

  • A lovely sunny, mild day here. Load of washing dried on the line, some bulbs planted and a shed organised (although I built the shelving unit a couple of weeks ago, the things destined to live on it have been patiently waiting on the shed floor 😂).

Also finally finished a voluntary admin task whilst watching James Martin this morning.

Lunch was a piece of quiche from the freezer with corn on the cob and bread and butter, was going to be baked beans but the sweetcorn wasn’t going to get eaten anytime else this week. Couple of mini duck spring rolls as a starter then bacon and egg fried rice (with broccoli and sugar snap peas) for dinner whilst watching Strictly 💃🏽

    Good morning everyone,
By some miracle we all seemed to have avoided catching COVID from my sis who unfortunately felt rough again yesterday.
Dry and sunny here this morning. The plan is to put the garden pretty much to bed today for the winter. I'll empty the greenhouse in a few weeks.
I have a chook to roast later, I'm going to take the legs off and freeze them as it's a decent size that'll still leave plenty for dinner and some sandwiches tomorrow. Probably a BLT for lunch.

A very wet & soggy morning, a good day for Netflix, sofa & casserole IMO but after catch up of Gardeners' World & Beechgrove
Brambling, a handyman is all I need for the door, I'll give him a few more days which will be fortnight, then I'll ask on the local FB group

Tried booking online for Covid top up, but non are convenient locally. So plan B is after my dentist check up on Thursday, drive along to the nearby Tesco and get a walk in jab, assuming the queue is not round the block of course

    Good morning everyone,
I have a carrier bag worth of apples (various types) to do something with. Where we stayed last weekend had a number of apple trees all laden with fruit and there was a large note in the kitchen asking folk to help themselves to as many as possible. I'm thinking batches of simple stewed apples for the freezer to use over coming months.

That's what I do with mine, sort of crumble sized batches. I still have a carrier bag full to do, but these are better keepers, so time is on my side at the moment

Lunch is use up just OOD part baked baguette with cheese & salady filling
Dinner, MFO RM chicken & veg casserole. I may have some frozen veg with it because it doesn't look much like a meal on its own, bought unseen online from W8rose on a deal

  • Another beautiful day once the sun came out - two loads dried on the line 🌞

Finally got round to cleaning the bathroom. Also did the ironing and went for a swim. Had a lovely afternoon of food prep - two trays of roast veg that went in the oven with dinner, four portions of spicy root veg and lentil stew and the leeks for dinner.

Lunch was scrambled eggs and avocado on toast. Chicken, leek and cannellini bean traybake tonight.

Back to the office tomorrow and first full week of work for a while…

It was very wet first thing so his lordship and I had a leisurely start to the day, he likes to snuggle when I have my winter dressing grown on 🙂 the rain cleared by about 11 and it was a nice day.

I noticed this morning that my smart meter display updated overnight to reflect the oct raise, the gas standing charge was 20p and went up to 28p  :# the electricity didn't look like it was increased but difficult to tell as I had boiled the kettle etc first thing before checking it

My nephew and his family were at my sisters this afternoon so I went for some baby cuddles 🙂 with a cuppa and a slice of lemon drizzle - a good afternoon 🙂

Lunch was a sort of salad nicoise, I had some fresh tuna in the freezer brought really reduced from the fish counter at Waitrose which I coated in a mix of white and black sesame seeds before searing. I did have a boiled egg incident 🙄 I had problems peeling it and rinsed under the tap, shook it to dry and lost my grip so it sailed across the kitchen  :# luckily I had boiled more than one as it broke up on impact  :D

Dinner was bbq chicken wings and corn ribs AF with coleslaw and salad. Not sure about corn ribs but that could have been because I was sure on the timings,

I'm in the office tomorrow to get my new laptop sorted so must get lunch organised and remember to take in milk and fresh teabags as the ones in the office and decaf

Brambling, thanks for a laugh with the boiled egg incident :D , I needed cheering up because my gout has returned, right foot this time. Fingers crossed it won't hang round long now I'm on tablets
So I'm hobbling about with minimum movement, finding a chair & stick in it

Meals, skipped breakfast, just didn't fancy it. I'm not sure if appetite is linked to gout, or just the thought of standing on a gouty foot is enough to deter trying
Lunch, last of the PB baguettes, with CBA cheese & sliced onion filling
Dinner, with amazing foresight, I have a W8rose MFO RM veggie lasagne ready to pop in the oven, I've had them before & found they are tasty, far better than I could make anyway

    Good morning everyone,
Sorry to read your gout is playing up again Farway.
Had to smile re the jumping egg Brambling, at least you had a spare!
A sluggish start here today, I didn't wake until after 9.30 which is very unusual for me. Just as well I had no major plans for today!
Dreich and chilly here this morning after a fairly nice day yesterday. Most of the garden pots have been emptied so it's looking pretty bare though we've kept some daisies and begonias that are still flowering. The greenhouse is still producing tomatoes but the cucumbers have finished, it's been a poor crop of those this year.
Chopped a mound of veg yesterday so will get some soup on the go once I've had another cuppa.
LO chicken and stuffing in a wrap for lunch. DS2 is cooking tonight - dal, rice & naan.
  • Productive office day today, couple of good meetings and some tasks done including catching up on emails from Friday 🙃

Dry and fairly bright but the house felt cold when I got in so the heating went on for a bit.

Lunch was some of the roast veg with half a pouch of Middle Eastern style grains and some of the never ending chimichurri…easy tea tonight - reheated one of my batch cooked meals from yesterday - spicy root veg and lentil stew. Served with toasted pitta and a dollop of creme fraiche.

Sorry the gout has returned Farway I think I read that it could get worst before it got better on those tablets :/ my brother and sister both take them and i'm told they do eventually work   :)

A earlier start than I been used to this morning as I went into the office, I forgot the joys of trying to get into my work town on a Monday especially if there are road works on one of the main routes in 🙄 my new laptop is setup (hopefully) and I came home lunchtime as I was sitting on my own and to avoid 5pm traffic

My monthly email from Octopus let me know the government payment had been taken off my DD for October, I don't know why but I thought they would add it as a credit rather than reducing my usual DD I think I'll  top it back up to the amount I usually pay as it will be needed once the heating goes on and I won't miss it

lunch was celery soup from the freezer.  Dinner jacket potato, cheese and LO coleslaw with salad. I also experimented and made a blackberry and apple cobbler in the airfryer, I had cooked the fruit yesterday so only the cobbler part needed cooking 😋 I probably didn't need to know how to do it.
