Sorry to hear the covid has you JKS but sounds like your appetite is not affected so farBummer on the toms Caron, no wonder home-grown toms always taste wonderful, it can be an uphill struggle to grow them. Have you been watching Beechgrove? Ripe outside toms way up in the Scottish north, a variety I've not heard of but will look out for next yearGetting ready for a real scorcher today, not a cloud in the sky and only a light breeze. I've been out watering the post in the front already, before the heat gets goingGood spot on the Marks gammon Brambling, I hope to get there this week, but so much else going on I may never make it this week, just been reminded by DVLC that car tax is due, only £30 in my case so not a heart-stopper, however that prompted a check on MOT so need to get that in soon, don't want to pay tax & then find MOT troubles, mind you there can't surely be much else to go wrong can there?Lunch will be repeat of tinned salmon & cucumber sarnie, maybe with squirt of salad creamDinner, sort of poor man's mixed grill. Mainly because I want to try out the veggie black pudding and new to me thick cut Asda posh back bacon. So it's them, probably fried but have to check instructions on the BP, plus mushroom omelette, HM AF chips and some baked beansMinimum cooking heat as wellEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0

Thanks both, not feeling too bad today and much better than yesterday. It takes a lot to put me off my food Farway 😂. I’m not allowed into the office but felt well enough to work from home, gosh I’m tired now!
Made blue cheese, apple and cashew nut couscous for lunch. Dinner was warm new potato, chorizo and green bean salad with soft boiled egg.
Bedtime for me 😴0 -
I'm glad you're not feeling too bad JKS remember to pace yourself
im still eating gammon Farway so worth buying if you see it in M&S I'm not sure what the smoked is like as I prefer unsmoked
I've a awful feeling that I'm getting gout again but in my other big toe, I woke with a slightly stiff toe this morning, I have drunk loads of water today in the hope that keeping hydrated will avoid it this time.I spent about a hour in the garden after work tackling some Brambles behind my fence in the garage block and a little of my japonica before I overheated and had to come in
lunch was a gammon and egg salad. A late Dinner whilst it was a little colder was the second sea beam with LO veg but I didn't fancy any potatoes.Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -
Good morning everyone,Glad you are feeling not too bad JKSOvercast with the odd spit of rain here this morning, still warm but not as sultry as yesterday.Just enjoying a cuppa before clearing the carnage Hector has created with a (thankfully almost empty) box of tissues . I thought he was being worryingly quiet!Sis coming for dinner tonight, spatchcocked chicken with Ayrshire tatties, coleslaw and salad. A bit of prep but at least the kitchen isn't as warm as yesterday. If the rain holds off we'll probably cook outside.0

Very close right now, baking sun earlier but since clouded over. I've decided on a weather appropriate salad for tonightBrambling, please keep any gout your side of the border
. With my recent bout, I read that celery helps, makes blood less gouty crystals, so they say. Anyway I like celery so had plenty of it, can't say if it worked or not, but it was a useful distraction with a bit of hope to cling to
Caron, quiet dogs are like quiet children, you just know they are up to something. Years back, our Lab cross one was silent behind the sofa when friends & new baby visited. We found out why as they were leaving, she had scalloped the babies blanket around the edges, dog gob bites, of course accompanied by Labrador "very sorry I did that" brown eyes. Luckily, our friends saw the funny side of itI've done my bit of gardening, watering the volunteer border earlier and quick top up nearby pots with hose at the backI popped into Co-op for bread & lettuce while up watering, another new scheme with Co-op divi here, discount at the till on some items for Co-op members, 12p off my iceberg which brought it down to 68p, not a bad one either, far better than to 55p Brussels sprout size one Asda tried to deliver to meLunch was last of the tinned salmon, with cuc in a sarnieDinner, taken a salmon fillet piece out to defrost, so it's pan fried salmon, HM AF chips + salad. Minimum heat againEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
Another day of house arrest done, fed up already! At least I’m well enough to wfh I suppose. Strange weather here - muggy and overcast, couple of tiny showers.
Tiredness is the overriding symptom so keeping it simple with eating. Lunch was the rest of the blue cheese, apple and cashew nut couscous (found the celery I bought to go in it this evening 😂). Tonight I did pan fried cod (YS from the freezer), French style lentils (the other half of the Lidl pouch) with the end of a jar of roasted peppers, and green beans.0 -
It didn't feel as hot as yesterday I think because it was cloudy enough to stop the sun shining through the front windows, even with the curtains drawn all day yesterday my bedroom which gets the sun from midday was like a oven when I went to bed.
JKS when my nephew had CV he had no symptoms other than being really tired for over a week once went back to work.I agree puppies and toddlers it's never good when they go quiet, at least hector isn't flushing stuff down the toilet 😁I'm drinking so much water to stay hydrated that I'm up half the night I'm still convinced that the gout is just around the corner 😐 my toe is stiff and painful if I press it but none of the bad gout pain yet 🤔 unfortunately I knocked a lidded glass jug full of water off the worktop lunchtime, glass and water everywhere and my toast under the grill burning, it was a jug which was my great aunt's and then my mum's so I wasn't happy, sentimental value only
Minimum Waitrose order this afternoon including a small chicken with £1 off voucher, I'll just have to cook it maybe not a roast. The pressure cooker may be cooler🤔 I sent back a couple of subs and I'm not convinced they couldn't find a sub for the juice I ordered and sent no replacement 🙄
Lunch was scrambled egg on toast. Dinner the last of the gammon with salad, potato salad and coleslawLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -
Working nights this week, so it was a quick chicken breasts fried in Nando's sauce, boiled sweet potato with garlic & smoked paprika powder on them and a couple of bags of steamed green veg. Split it in two for tomorrow's dinner as well.Breakfast/lunch was two GF crumpets and some grated cheese."Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It's a very mean and nasty place and I don't care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't about how hard ya hit. It's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done!"0

Good morning everyone,
Hello LateNightHunter welcome to CFO
Hope you keep improving JKS and the gout doesn't develop Brambling.
Gorgeous morning here, there's a cooling breeze. I'm up and organised earlier than usual as DS2 is off to a site visit in North Yorkshire.
After a drizzly afternoon yesterday, the skies cleared to a lovely evening and we able to cook outdoors and enjoy an aperitif in the garden. Today Hector can help me give the grill a good scrub, I wonder what carnage he'll create today when I'm not looking?
LO chicken & salad for lunch probably more salad for dinner as I've salmon portions defrosting and have a notion to poach it and make some Marie Rose dressing, might see if there are any prawns in the freezer.1 -
Welcome to CFO LateNightHVery close and a bit cloudy, after an uncomfortable nightWeather so muggy I'm off food, sort of snacking. My defrosted salmon fillet for yesterday's dinner is still in the fridge, all being well I'll cook it later today & have with a spot of salad bitsBrambling, I had similar thoughts about not subbing my fruit juice, in my case it was Asda not W8rose, but I can't believe there was none at all at any price but unable to check so having to take their word for itLunch, I may just pan fry the salmon to use it and serve with some lettuce etc, no spuds, just light lunchDinner, thinking about breakfast style, grilled bacon, the veggie black pudding, fried eggs, toast & bung the LO beans on topOr maybe it'll finish up like yesterday, a cheese & marmite sarnieThe veggie black pud, jury still out because I'm not sure if I cooked it correctly last time, I fired it in non-stick pan, but it stuck so turned into a mess, tasted OK though.I'm going to add oil to pan next time roundEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0
