    Good morning everyone,
Very overcast but warm here it's supposed to brighten and reach 25C this afternoon.
DS1 & DIL-to-be have just headed for brunch with some friends before returning to Glasgow and going to a bbq.
Two of my wall baskets have been attacked by something and are looking pretty bedraggled so I'm going to empty them and replant.
Was CFO last night and enjoyed a bowl of spaghetti in meatballs, minimal effort as the meatballs and sauce were from the freezer.
Salad for lunch and I've chicken breasts defrosting to make JOs golden crispy chicken for dinner.

Evening all from a too hot SE where we are just cooling down to a warm 24  B) too hot for me so I'm not looking forward to the 35 or 37 we are due (depending on which forecast you look at)

Farway I recently saw that West Wittering was only selling car park tickets in advance (online i think) and they were full up this weekend telling people to stay away as there was no parking available, not sure how that worked for them.  Hopefully it avoided the usual chaos on the A27 at the the West Wittering roundabout where on a hot weekend queues blocked traffic in all directions.  The assumption was people would read local news!

I didn't travel far today, I took some of my salted caramel ice cream to my sister for lunch where we raided my nephew's brownies and had ice cream, brownies and raspberries for lunch  :D you have to have someone healthy with the sugar >:) I'm sure when he went to feed them to his mates tonight he won't  have missed a couple, he makes such good brownies :p  we did leave him some ice cream  :)

Dinner was the last of the chicken with salad, CBA and too hot to cook any new potatoes, but there is plenty of fruit if i need anything when it's cooler

I hope you'll not so tired today JKS

  • Still 26 here but not felt too bad, got the house nice and cool plus there has been a breeze and quite a lot of cloud cover - we’ll see what the next couple of days are like, forecast 39 😬

Have done a bit more than yesterday but still not loads and still needed a nap. Also still testing positive which means I’m not allowed back into the office yet…

More bread and cheese for lunch. More salad tonight - grilled salmon with artichoke hearts, avocado and new potatoes, minimal cooking!
  • Evening all! Last night shift, then a week off, which is great!

Was given the choice of the gym or a BBQ at my parent's place and, quite frankly, there was no contest.

Got the remainder to nibble on tonight, however, I forgot my protein shake and water for tonight so I'm angry with myself

    Good morning everyone,
25C here and to go to 30C, I've had a lovely shower and put on one of my favourite Seasalt frocks. Not sure it goes with my shore sandals/trainers but I'm comfy which is the main thing!
Load two of laundry is chuntering away, once it's hung out I'll be avoiding the kitchen area as much as possible until later. Yesterday evening DS2 put together a batch of beef kofta mix so we'll bbq them later for dinner. I'll skewer some veg and with flatbreads, salad and yoghurt dip that will do us nicely.
Hope everyone manages to stay cool.

I typically cook a large pot (or two) of risotto, curry, or pasta: I eat that day's meal and put the rest in tubs; the next days in the fridge and the rest into the freezer.
Pasta needs some tinned tomatoes and chopped onions, possibly olives and/or a jar of pesto, plus some chili flakes to perk it up a bit.
Risotto needs chopped onions, some stock, and optionally frozen peas & sweetcorn.
For curry I use some tinned tomatoes and chopped onions and a jar of sauce, maybe with some aubergine pickle to add some interest.
I'll typically use chicken, but can do variations; if I'm lazy I'll buy a whole cooked chicken from a supermarket and add it into the pot towards the end of cooking.
If I'm alone, one of those is a week's main meals.

Morning all, a bit of a restless night with the heat, maybe this winter I'll buy a portable air con unit?
Watered those plants that needed it first thing, so rest of day is clear, except change bedding

Brambling, I think gout has crossed the border :'( , in RH little finger making cutting and lifting award, to ease it my little finger is curled over and my RH is like a claw, very inconvenient but not too painful

I'm busy for the next few days, but if it persists I may give the Dr a ring

My main busy is this afternoon, back into hospital taxi mode with my friend having her cataract operation later today I'm the taxi, I know they say about NHS waiting lists, but it was only last Thursday she saw the consultant, could've had it done on the Friday but chose today to give a clear weekend. Just for info, this is at St Mary's Brambling
Luckily the waiting room is fully air-conditioned, so I can read my book in comfort

Minimum heat in kitchen today, lunch BLT sarnie, using the last rasher. I'll have to think of something else tomorrow
Dinner, with the hospital this afternoon I'm going for a ready meal, defrosting YS Mark's creamy veg curry to nuke once I'm back
This veg curry is very, very mild so no problem with eating in this heatwave

Sorry for sharing Farway  :( I've finished the treatment and can't take anymore for three days, hopefully I won't need any by then.  This attack was definitely milder than last probably because I started taking meds earlier.  Glad you didn't have a trip up to QA, about 40 years ago I got knocked off my bicycle outside St Mary's 🙂

other then watering I've not been out today, curtains drawn it's not been too bad but it's not due to go below 22 overnight so I've put a hot water bottle in the freezer for later 🥵 unfortunately his lordship has come in after disappearing for 6 hours and wanted to sit on me, so we compromised and he's laying next to me still a little too close for me   :#  Removal vans for two doors down this morning it looks like just the neighbours moving out today as I didn't see any one moving in but curtains have been drawn and I've been in the colder dining room at the back.  I didn't envy the removal men and local gossip tells me a trip to Bournemouth for them which is approx 100 miles.  Interesting to see the price although the house is a newer build less 10 years old

lunch was strawberries, peach and kiwi with a HM mango lolly.  Dinner was a portion of vegetable chilli from the freezer, too hot to cook any rice but it was a generous portion

  • I sat out to have dinner this evening but it wasn’t very pleasant. We had a short shower a little while ago and it is cooling down slightly. House was ok until middle of the afternoon but had a very prompt finish today 😉

Lunch was celery, apple, Stilton and cashew nut salad. More salad tonight - prosciutto, artichoke and Parmesan with a lemony dressing.

Hoping it’s not too hot to sleep tonight…

    Good morning everyone,
I had a reasonable sleep, the chilled hotwater bottle did the trick  :) . I was awake early though but from the noise of a military exercise going on at the local airport.
I have two pooches to try and keep cool today as my sister's dog was dropped off here yesterday evening as she was away early this morning. He'll get collected this evening when she comes for dinner. We're cooking outside again, homemade pork & chorizo burgers that I made and froze on Saturday. Before the kitchen gets too warm I'll boil some Ayrshires for potato salad. LO kebab and grilled veg for lunch.
