  • Bit of a strange day…due to to covid isolation I couldn’t attend a meeting this morning so had an unexpected gap in my diary. Then had to chair a meeting remotely that was at 1 p.m. because of the planned morning meeting so had to have early lunch. Just seemed to throw me out 🙃

Finally tested negative today so a more normal week next week.

Lunch was quiche, salad, coleslaw and bread and butter. Made harissa and feta orzo with chargrilled courgettes tonight, LOs for lunch tomorrow.

Very dull and black outside, expecting thunder nay time soon by the looks of it, especially as I struggled to water the pots at the front this morning with my gouty claws

Now the gout is creeping into my left hand I finally phoned for Dr appointment, he's phoning back this afternoon so hopefully even if no instant cure maybe some relief?

Meals today are more for ease than anything else, so it's lightweight & microwave to the front, even things like slicing some cheese is hard work, and now i can't even open jars because I can't grip them, so simple stuff like bread & jam is out of the question

And to top it all, my milk had gone off, instant curdle when it hit the coffee this morning, thank CFO for planning and UHT Longlife "just in case" carton to hand

I'm going to attempt salad sarnie for lunch, but even cutting cucumber is a struggle
Dinner, I've boil in bag / nuke kipper fillets in butter, can't make mash but will try some CFO "just in case" instant Smash

    Good morning everyone,
Hope the Dr can offer some relief Farway.
To rain here later but still quite warm.
I had a rather trying day with Hector in the toilet training department and seemed to spend all day mopping and disinfecting. I think a combination of DS2 being away so early and teething knocked him off kilter. I was absolutely bushed by the time DS2 got back.
Tesco are due soon and then I'll scrub the bathroom. I want to make a batch of tomato sauce later as I've pretty much used up my freezer supplies and need some for pizza tomorrow.
Salady bits for lunch and freezer rake for dinner.
  • Made it through the week! Second negative test means I can go back to the office for my normal days next week 🙃

Although feeling much better, I am tired (lunchtime swim perhaps didn’t help but I really enjoyed it). Lunch when I got back was the reheated LO harissa, feta and courgette orzo. Burger with Stilton, new potatoes, salad and coleslaw tonight.

Meal plan and shopping list done, ready for the week ahead (after a relaxing weekend, looking forward to being able to actually enjoy being in the garden).

Doctor saw me yesterday afternoon, need blood test to confirm its gout but he & I are certain it is, but he needs to rule out other possibles just in case. Med are restricted due to clash with others I'm taking so really left with only one choice and can only take 12 tablets [four days] or horrible side effects appear, whichever comes first max
So, it's kill or cure it seems, otherwise grin & bear it. The longer term is going to be down diet / food, no other options for me

Which means food today is limited to what I can lift, cut or prep, I may have to freeze the posh lamb I bought because even if I could lift it out of the oven I doubt I could carve it, a bit annoying I was looking forward to that but Use by is tomorrow and that isn't going to happen

Going to be fried egg sarnie for lunch
Salad for dinner, I'll have a rootle in the freezer to see if I can find some suitable fish and I think I may have to use frozen chips today, never found the instant mash I thought I had

    Good morning everyone,
Glad the Dr was able to see you Farway, hope the meds help.
Raining here this morning, the drizzling gets you soaked stuff. Good for the garden though.
Didn't make tomato sauce yesterday as discovered a small tub in the freezer just the right size for tonight's pizza.
Cleaning today, DS2 is going to wield the hoover and I'll mop through. After Hector not having a great day in the widdling department on Thursday I feel there is a distinct whiff of puppy wee, though DS2 says he can't smell it. I'm not convinced lol!
    Probably sausage sandwiches for lunch.
  • So, today started well, did a few chores and went into town and to sainsburys. Then felt completely exhausted after lunch - guess it’s the covid tiredness still🙄. So, had an easy afternoon doing admin bits.

Lunch was quiche, LO new potatoes, salad and coleslaw. Harissa lamb steak with roasted vegetable and chickpea couscous tonight.

Out for lunch tomorrow unexpectedly, so that’s a nice surprise. Will move the meal plan on a day 😊

Farway that sounds like the drugs I was given, maximum of 12 (2-4 a day) and then no more for at least 3 days.  I was limited because of my asthma

Maybe have a slow day tomorrow JKS  :)

Trip into town for me as well for a hair cut and a few fresh bits from m&s and the farmers market. Not sure what was happening at one of the pubs on the way out of town, 4 fire engines including a breathing apparatus truck, 4 ambulances and a paramedic car and 3 police cars. My source aka vince who I buy spices etc two doors down tells me the pub has a micro brewery at the back so he was speculating fumes of some kind, definitely not a fire, the road down one side of it was also closed but people could walk around the fire engines. Nothing on local FB site of local news so hopefully that means no one was hurt, next time I'm in town I'll pop in to see Vince

I picked up some Sussex Charmer cheese in town to make up for the horrid tasteless plastic cheese I picked up in error from Lidl, which I may have to throw away unless I find someone who likes yucky cheese 🤢 I'm not sure it will work to cook with either

lunch was a crusty roll from the market with ,some proper cheese and pickle,  Dinner AF fried chicken with salad and a slaw with a ginger and peanut dressing

    Good morning everyone,
Hope your feeling better today Farway
Yesterday's planned cleaning never happened so to be tackled today, just as well really as it was raining heavily yesterday evening and Hector had muddy feet after raiding a plant pot!
Very pleased with our pizza last night. My ancient oven struggles to get the very high heat needed so we tried cooking the base for a few minutes on the pizza stone before adding the toppings and cooking it on the bars. Worked a treat.

Steaks tonight with Ayrshire tatties, green beans, mushrooms and peppercorn sauce.
