Hooray, my meds are starting to work on my gout, yep, they're same as yours Brambling, last dose is tomorrow, scarey stuff reading the leaflet that comes with them, a bit like reading the old style Home Doctor books, last sentence for most illness seemed to be "Death will swiftly ensue"

Although the gout is easing retuning to normal is not yet possible because the hands & fingers still hurt and lack grip, both hands required picking up a glass for instance, however I did go up the volunteer border to water using my hose, I can drag that about at least

Meals are having to be minimum prepping & lifting again, lunch will be a soft cheese spread + salad bits sarnie
Dinner, I have Smart Price RMFO macaroni cheese, so that'll do

I have a tomato ripening in the conservatory, a few more days, and hopefully it will be part of my salad

  • Lunch out as planned. Felt like I’d earned it after some aunty duties accompanying small people on mini theme park rides 😂. So, a lovely roast and a stodgy pudding. Just a cheese and chutney sandwich with a 🍷 tonight. Haven’t done much since I got back. Has looked and felt like it’s going to rain all evening but not sure it actually will so usual watering done.

I'm glad the gout is in remission Farway  :)

Quiet day today, housework, washing etc and catching up on some TV and a new book from a author I like reduced on kindle 😁

lunch was LO chicken and ginger and peanut dressed slaw in a wrap.  Whilst cooking the chicken yesterday I cooked a couple of scotch eggs using some venison sausages so dinner was a Scotch egg with salad and coleslaw

A bit dull & cooler this morning, probably because I'm of out to mooch around GC  + café with a friend

Gout is still niggling, but at least the swelling has gone down, I still can't safely lift one-handed heavy stuff like boiling kettle  but doing far better than I could, so it's a positive result with the kill or cure pills

Food today, because I'm mooching a GC + café lunch maybe eaten out
Dinner, because GC has a Farm Shop I may just come home with something from there as basis for salad, thinking yummy ham slices here, but in case I don't then it's a frozen Chinese stab & ping dinner for one I think, still unable to prep, just can't hold & cut safely with knife, even struggle slicing a cucumber

    Good morning everyone,
Glad your gout is easing Farway
Overcast but dry here, we had some hideous rain yesterday so left the floor mopping until today. Apart from that I've some admin to do and want to poach chicken and make the dressing base for Coronation chicken which we are having for dinner with my sis tomorrow.
Pate and oatcakes for lunch with fruit and homegrown cucumber, looks as though it will be a decent crop this year.
DS2 is making a curry tonight - Chicken Handi. When he was at the office last week he managed a quick visit to his favourite Asian supermarket and pick up a stack of the gorgeous Naans from their in store bakery so we'll be sharing one of these tonight. :)
  • Evening all!

Back on nights, so it's a home-made chilli for dinner tonight. Simply Cook have stopped doing their chipotle spice packs in the stores, so I had to try and recreate it and, whilst it tastes nothing like it, it does taste nice (Has Marmite and dark chocolate in it!)
"Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It's a very mean and nasty place and I don't care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't about how hard ya hit. It's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done!"

    Hi Norman 👋

LNH I've not heard of marmite in chilli although I have heard of putting in a little dark chocolate 🙂

we had some rain this morning as his lordship came in wet just before lunch, it was a lot but I enjoyed the overcast day even if it did get a bit windy 5ish 🙂

A bit of a manic Monday work wise although I was glad to have missed issues on Friday 😁

lunch was the last HM scotch egg with coleslaw and salad. I was a little CBA dinner time after a long call from one of my sisters just before I started cooking so dinner was mushroom omelette and AF chips with a tomato salad

  • Enjoyed being back in the office today, caught up with a few people and even got some work done 😂

Left on time to make sure I don’t get too tired. Luckily, I’m wfh tomorrow and then got a sneaky mid-week day off so should make it through the week ok, definitely less tired each day.

Lunch was LO roasted vegetable and chickpea couscous with feta. Tuna steak with warm new potato, green bean and tomato salad tonight.

    Hi Norman

Yesterday's farm shop was cheap, didn't buy anything but had a long drool at the cheese counter with plenty to tempt me, loads of local & non-local. This visit was a surprise one, but if I get advance warning, I think I'll buy some of their salad stuff plus cheese. The only ham there was one dubious pack, you know, the one that everyone left behind as they sorted through? That one
The butcher is closed on Monday, hence no other option

Into town earlier for building society pay in cheques, had intended to go on to Marks but decided against because my Sparks log in is playing up & I can't see what offers there may be for me, with Sparks you have to choose before you buy and discount applies at till

Thus, today's meals are use ups
Lunch, last of the crusts, toasted, with use up manky mushrooms, fried and nuked LO beans
Dinner, last of the Little gems with use up tinned ham + end of cuc + last tomato with HM AF chips

Gout continues to improve but still around

    Good morning everyone,
    Hello Norman welcome to CFO.
LNH I use Marmite in lots of things but have never tried in chilli. DS2 is not a fan but loves when I add a little to the water when parboiling spuds for roasties.
Dry and sunny here today, just waiting for load two to finish washing and hopefully it will all dry.
Finally had a thorough mop through yesterday, not that you can really tell now but I know it's clean (enough  ;)  ).
Hectors new game is to pinch cushions from the sofa....
LO curry for lunch and HM Coronation chicken with Ayrshire tatties and salad for dinner.
