Snap on damp, dreary and bed stripping Caron! Such fun
W8rose delivery arrived promptly with only one sub, my cheapo Essential mint sauce swopped for their posh one charged at cheapo price. I liked that bit.
What I disliked was the sudden realisation that my 500g of mushrooms cost £1.70, nearly dropped dead as I unpacked. I’ll look into Plan B once I have a Plan B, I use frozen ready prepped in stews etc. But was in habit of buying fresh, I’ll have to re think that bit
Managed to get my garden bits completed OK yesterday in the sunshine, so full on roast it was, with LO roast spuds as planned.
Dinner today I have lots of choices with the fresh delivery; going by Use dates its posh haddock fish fingers day, with frozen chips and newly arrived frozen peas. I’ll probably use the oven for chips & F fingers but have to check the temperature required, it should be easy enough with a bit of juggling about
Lunch, last of the LO YS roast beef in a sarnie, with a bit of healthy lettuce

Hello Jackie, pineapple and 3penny 👋
Been away for a few days and felt very Monday ish back at work today…
Not done a proper shop yet so store cupboard eating today - ham & mustard sandwich for lunch, salmon pesto pasta with green beans and peas tonight. Planning to stock up a bit with a Lidl shop tomorrow.
So glad I made the most of the gorgeous weather the last few days, back to wet and grey today 🙄0 -
I'm glad you had a good break JKS
It was my last day off todayin lieu of working a Saturday at the beginning of the month. They have changed the rules for when we work Saturdays, we declined adding it to our contracts we would work 6 a year so they could pay us for it. The new agreement is we have to take a day in lieu within a couple of weeks of working it. Last week was holiday c/o from last year which needed taking before the end of March
I spent some time cooking this morning but my hip wasn't happy standing so I used that as a excuse to veg out. Lunch was left over chicken with a vegetable slaw (yoghurt and mustard dressing) on a bed of raw spinach . I also made a goat curry in the SC stretching the meat by using cauliflower leafs and stalk as well as the broccoli stalk. This goat was from the farm shop and a local-ish farm. It took a while longer than expected to tender but turned out very tender, three good size portions in the freezer plus one in the fridge for LOs Wednesday

Dull & drizzle this morning, seems to be the pattern lately, sun then bleeugh
However makes dinner option more obvious, beef casserole & dumplings unless something changes
The dates on my fresh W8rose items are fair, with a couple being the 3rd so I’m trying to sort through, luckily the steaks are way into next week so no problem with themBeing Pancake Day I’m tempted, time permitting it could be pancakes for lunch, if not it’s another cheese sarnie and pancakes skipped for yet another year
Dinner, as above all being well, or some of the opened posh fish fingers, more frozen chips etc. if not

Good afternoon everyone,
Hope today is better JKS.
Bright and sunny here today after a frosty start. It's lovely to see the sun even if does show up the dust!!
I'll make pancakes later if DS2 wants some, he usually does!
HM root veg soup for lunch, a great use of of lurking fridge bits.
The salmon dish was very good, made a nice change from my usual wrap in foil and bake.
Tonight it's HM mince round (minced beef plate pie) from the freezer with baked spuds, various veg and Bisto gravy.0 -
Less damp but still a bit grey, and cold 🥶
I’m popping your salmon recipe on my to make list, caronc - sounds lovely.
WFH today so filled pasta with sweet corn, tuna and sun dried tomatoes for lunch. Swimming tonight so early tea of baked beans with toast. Cuppa and piece of stem ginger cake LO from the weekend afterwards 😋0 -
Typical first day back in the office with 200+ emails and my manager had snuck my annual appraisal into my calendar this afternoon
it will be interesting to see if anyone, him included complete all our objectives this year - there's a first time for everything 😁
Lunch was a repeat of yesterday, vegetable slaw and LO chicken with a spinach salad. The chicken carcass has been frozen as it's too small to make enough stock for four portions of soup. I made a chilli lunch time so it had time to slowly simmer and had a portion for dinner with rice, 3 portions were frozen. Typical CFA I took goat and mince out of the freezer yesterday and what has gone back in takes up so much more space (3 portions of each) I'm normally organised that my HM RM are in the one drawer but they are currently in both freezers, so I should organise it but really cba at the moment 😁Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -
Dismal & damp morning so decided to skip my planned Mark’s mooch today and see what tomorrow’s like, nothing I actually need having had a recent delivery
Went for HM pancakes yesterday lunchtime, worked out well and this being a CFO house there is LO pancake batter, so more freshly flipped pancakes for lunch today, being old fashioned it’s the lemon & sugar type, not adverse to maple syrup etc., just that I don’t have any
The beef stew turned out well as usual, with two good LO for another day. I may freeze these because of the horde of fresh food already in the fridge with Use By dates getting closer
Lunch today, as above, pancakes
Dinner, I think cod fillet in crumbs [Waitrose] frozen chips & peas
I can then freeze the other cod fillet and LO posh F fingers along with the LO stew + dumplings while still having salmon, gammon & beef steaks well in date and ready for the next few days
I’m trying out Parsley Box soon, there was an offer came through my door, 10 for just over £20 as I chose to pick & mix.Delivery on the way this afternoon. I’m not expecting much TBH having seen them on You Tube I know what to expect. However they do not require freezer space and could be useful at right price, bit like YS items one would never buy at full price but OK YS

Good morning everyone,
Dull and damp here today.
My Dad had the Parsley meals post knee op and found them okay though very small portions (he was a big eater).
HM soup for lunch and I'm making paprika chicken for dinner tonight Creamy paprika chicken recipe - BBC Food which looks as though it would scale down well for CFO. We'll have it with tagliatelle or rice and green veg.1 -
Another damp day here 🌧
Feels like it should be much further into the week than Wednesday too. That’ll teach me to have time off!Made it to Lidl after work yesterday so pantry looking nice and stocked up. Made a couple of days worth of tuna couscous so lunch was a portion of that. Prawn and veg Thai green curry tonight with noodles.0
