The early sunshine soon vanished and now it’s quite chilly & dull, one bright part though was my posh Cape primrose plants arrived so I’ll pot them up later
I was thinking about boiled fruit cake making today, points accusing finger at Caron, but have decided that oat & banana cookies may be quicker, easier plus use up some really black bananas that have been frozen for just such a day. Never used frozen ones before so fingers crossed & should they fail then not much except time has been lostMeals today, bit unsure TBH
Lunch, I have a thick crust just begging to be toasted with scrambled eggs on top
Dinner, I have easy cook gammon slices & pack of sauce thing from W8rose, so may do that. It’s the veggies that are a problem. I have loads but they do not seem “right” to go with the gammon
Could resolve into cauliflower cheese and gammon, and now I’m tempted by HM broccoli & Stilton soup, mmm, very much first world problems with what’s going on elsewhere
Hope the pressure cooker bit turns up Brambling, amazing where “bits” roll to.
During the week my pound coin from the Mark’s shopping trolley leapt out of out of its holder when I returned the trolley, I watched as it rolled under the gap at the base of trolley return shelter, along the car park and finished up wedged under my front tyre. Had I not watched there is no way I would’ve thought of it heading there

You could opt to make both Farway on the MSE grounds of filling the oven1

Another cold, grey day here, rainy at times too 🙄
Anyway, a nice day. Been to have my hair done and did my grocery shop at the big sainsburys on the way home, the excitement!Brunch of scrambled eggs and mushrooms on toasted bagel before I went out. Just made smoked mackerel and spinach risotto, LOs for the freezer.0 -
The nice thing about cooking for one is that you can cook and eat exactly what you fancy. I don’t much like cereal for breakfast but I often have home made soup. If I’m really on a ‘go save’ spell there’s nobody to moan about it!0

Unfortunately no sign of pressure cooker part, either I ate it, his lordship ate it or it rolled under something 😔 it will probably wait until I spend money to reappear I even checked the dining room
A trip into town today for a cut and colour with only a wave to my sister when I parked the car at hers as my nephew has tested positive, no symptoms but having been to a 'gig' last Monday he thought he should test before going back to work 🙄 My sister so far is negative but isn't holding her breathe.Just a quick dart around M&S for fruit and veg, including a bag of their 25p for 6 ripe now bananas, they weren't very ripe no black spots so not yet banana cake stage so I reckon I can eat them with out the need to cook with them. The guy on the till took then out of the bag and weighed and tried to charge me 89p until I educated him on their 'ripe now' bags, I did get a blank look and had to say scan the barcode
This afternoon I spent a couple hours with a elderly friend catching up and doing some jobs for her and getting overly hot in her well heated flat, I dread to think what her DDs will bethe trouble is I couldn't get warm when I got home 😐
lunch was LO turkey with salad in a wrap. I was lazy dinner as I roasted a small beef joint but the mash potato, root veg mash and braised red cabbage were from the freezer and the green veg LO from from last night.Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -

Nice idea Caron, but in the end the ex-frozen bananas had turned to unappealing slime so I made neither.
However this morning the cake urge was still there so a fruit loaf is in the oven, but I’m no too convinced it’s a Good ‘Un. I had to use block marge ‘cos I’m a bit short on butter until Tuesday delivery day. Loaf smells OK but is shiny on top, which I suppose is better than charcoal black, I’ll soon find out at lunchtime
I never knew Marks had reduced “ripe now bananas”, I’ll look out for them next time, thanks for tip Brambling and I think your call on the missing part turning up at same time as the replacement is probably correct.
I found a screw on the kitchen floor, absolutely no idea where it’s from, nothing has fallen apart or bits dropped off. The screw is now safe on the kitchen window sill until it vanishes and then I find where it should be
Meals today
Lunch, yummy HM fruit loaf all being well
Dinner, One of W8rose sirloin steaks, with HM AF chips & salad
Weather dull ish but I'm going nowhere so not a problem

Good morning everyone,
Oh the joy of finding or not finding random bits. I have a cup on one of my kitchen shelves that random screws etc. get popped in if I find them. Sometimes they find their homes, more often it remains a mystery!
I think it's Mary Berry who swears block marge produces better results than butter in baking so fingers crossed.
Frosty again today and it's lovely, though cold, day now.
BLT for lunch and DS2 has requested IKEA meatballs with mash for dinner.0 -
Saw actual sunshine today! Had a John Lewis parcel to collect from Waitrose so,walked to get it this afternoon. Also got a YS bun to have with a cuppa when I got back 😋
Domestic pottering kind of day plus got a swim in. I’ve done a huge batch of vegetable chilli in the slow cooker and changed the bed.
Lunch was houmous, olives, spinach & feta parcels and ricotta stuffed peppers. Gammon, roast potatoes, swede & carrot mash and broccoli tonight. LO gammon and spuds for tomorrow…0 -
Having been out and about yesterday today was a housework, washing and pottering day, although the furry alarm clock gave me a late for me lie in 🙂
Yesterday when the oven was on I made a half batch of cheese scones, two went in the freezer and I slightly warm two today for lunch 😋.Dinner was sweet n sour pork using up some fresh pineapple with rice and stirfry vegetables. Tomorrow I'll have LO roast beef and pork to chose from so it will be a easy food day 🙂
Farway I'm not sure if they have them every day but for 25p a bag they are a definite bargain, not good if you only like green bananas 🙂the amount, size and ripeness of bananas vary so I usually find the best bag for me, this time I think I can eat all and i got six medium bananas, last time I got smaller ones but there were more and a 2 or 3 went to my nephew for cakeLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin1 -
The sun’s out, but a biting North wind doth blow, just right for sitting indoors eating my HM fruit loaf which turned out well despite my misgivings, so well that half of it vanished yesterday, the other half may well follow today
Back to today’s meals, I’ve taken some bangers out to defrost for a lunchtime sausage sarnie
Dinner, its use up & make fridge space for tomorrow’s Asda delivery thus LO cooked gammon steak and LO boiled & roasted spuds in a monster cheesy frittata, with use up salad bits
