Thanks Farway although my vouchers don't include salmon 😐

I had a couple of chores needed doing out of the house this morning before going to Sainsbobs lunchtime to use my voucher. I used their smart shop device but still managed to spend more than planned, although some of that was increase prices.  I'm all stocked up on F&V, i didn't need meat or fish but somehow managed to buy a rump steak and a small chicken, neither of which were in my packed freezers 😬 but the chicken will feed me at least four times before I soup the bones

lunch was a portion of veg soup from the freezer with some crusty bread.  I managed to 'upset' a dodgy' hip carrying the shopping in (trying to avoid another trip) so dinner ended up as a cheese and piccalilli sandwich using some more of the baguette.  I've a physio appointment next week booked  :/

Sunny weekend ahead, I’ve just shifted my W8rose delivery to Monday morning now, to take advantage of the sunshine really, I don’t want to be sorting shopping when I could be poncing around in sorting the garden in the sun

Bit of a meal quandary now, I had decided on cauli cheese today with my yummy Mark’s cauli, but now the sun’s here I hope to be out clearing buddleias etc. and may find back aches and CBA once CF Cheese prep time arrives, could be a salad coming on?

Lunch easy choice, or was until I spotted Brambling cheese & piccalilli, mmmn, that’ll be a nice lunch, especially because I have unopened Christmas present super doper piccalilli to sample

Brambling, I suspect the W8rose vouchers are linked to recent purchase, which makes a change from offering money off stuff one never buys, like pillow case sized packets of crisps with gallons of cola which they are just looking to shift / promote

    Good morning everyone,
Back to wet and windy here.
DS2 headed off early with his Dad to pick up his stuff. They plan to just pack and go so should be back late afternoon. He'll go back down in a couple of weeks to scrub the place prior to handing back the keys. DS1 & DIL-to-be are expected around 4pm, they are heading to a 40th and staying over afterwards so it will be a full house again.
I usually try to avoid housework at the weekend but before chaos reigns I want to have a hoover and dust, with visiting pooch it's a bit hairy as he casts constantly. I won't mop through, it would be a wasted effort with all DS2's stuff getting trundled through later.
Pork pie for lunch, dinner is tbc possibly a takeaway.

I made the most of todays good weather to do a little garden tidying before my hip objected 😐 so this afternoon was spent catching up on some TV and reading

lunch was sardines on toast.  I roasted a small chicken for dinner

G'day everyone. It's been a while.. Thought I would check through all the great ideas on here as I need to trim my budget somewhat. It's good to see people being inventive and economical. I think many are going to have to learn those skills in the coming months.
I'm still shielding and reliant on supermarket deliveries but I think I've got that sussed now. I alternate between two supermarkets because some products are only available at one but also they have different offers on at different times.
However as a singleton, one thing I find frustrating is that jars of stuff often say to use within 2 weeks or so of opening. Sometimes I ignore it (until white mould appears :D ) but it does mean I can't take advantage of cheaper economy sizes. I guess the answer is not to buy anything in a jar  :|

Another sunny day ahead so more gardening this afternoon, had a good bash at it yesterday PM, I took it easy so my back & puff lasted the course, however my CBA peaked before dinner so HM cauliflower cheese became beans on toast

Today’s food I’ll try a bit harder but I have beans on Amber Warning just in case

Lunch, cheese + salad bits sarnie

Dinner, hoping a full on Sunday roast, except for Yorkies. I have some LO YS Marks roast beef, and will repeat the HM roast spuds & donkey's dinner carrots, with steamed Savoy & cauliflower

W8rose delivery early tomorrow morning so I may be late on parade

    Good morning everyone,
Hello pineapple, I find some things in jars like pesto etc. freeze  well in CFO sized portions.
Chaos truly reigns here, DS2's stuff is everywhere ......... DS1 & DIL-to-be stayed over after a party last night so have promised to give him a hand to sort it out before they head home.
Bason butties from brunch and roast chicken legs with veg, gravy and roasties for dinner.

  • hi everyone - just catching up on lots of past posts. I do always read but dont comment so much anymore. xx

Pineapple / 3penny it's nice to see you both posting 🙂. Pineapple I tend to ignore some of the warnings on open jars as well 🙂 if I can I either freeze or menu plan to use a open jar up, sometimes I batch cook to use the jar in one go and freeze the cooked food

Farway I found the salmon on offer on my W8itrose card but have to use in the next day or two so unless I cba to pop into town tomorrow I may give it a miss

I hope order has been returned to the house Caronc  :)

lazy pottering day for me :) I'm off work tomorrow so my normal Sunday cooking was put off until then (maybe)

lunch was a small AF jacket potato with cheese and HM coleslaw and a spinach salad.  Dinner a repeat of yesterday's chicken roast dinner, pinged with fresh gravy

    Good morning everyone,
Nice to see you posting 3penny :)
House is more or less back to order though a couple of rooms are now only useful as storage areas. At I'm not tripping over it.
Damp and dreary here this morning, exciting thinks like stripping my bed and turning the mattress beckon lol but apart from that I'm for a quiet day.
LOs for lunch and tonight I'm trying this salmon recipe which we'll have with AF sweet potato fries, sugar snap peas, green beans and broccoli. Creamy Mustard Salmon with Potato Rosti | Salmon Recipes | Tesco Real Food
