Is it really only Tuesday? Longest short week ever…only one more day to go through.
Nice, productive wfh day today so smoked mackerel pate, toast, cherry tomatoes and cucumber for lunch. Due to some slightly bad planning, ended up as a double toast day as needed early tea before swimming and all I could come up with was beans with…ho hum, sure I’ll survive. I was also forced to declutter the end of the Stilton and a glass of red after swimming…just going to pretend I’m already on holiday 😉0 -
Good morning everyone,
Back to wet and wild here today, I'm fed up with the gusts now!
I've woke up this morning with a horrible swollen stye, it looks as though someone has thumped me, just as well I'm not going anywhere!! Sis and nephew are here for dinner tonight, I'm making cheesy, chilli meatballs. HM BNS and red pepper soup again for lunch.

Out and early start, off to Mark’s for milk, bread & YS mooch, plus collect prescription
I’ve had three seasons already today, and it’s only just gone three. Hard frost first thing, then turned out sunny & mild, now after lunch it’s autumn, dull & grey. Summer never arrived
First stop was Home Bargains, compost & YS mooch, success with a YS Chinese for a quid
Mark’s turned up YS trumps again with YS MFOs, veg curry, lasagne plus YS mince & ready for oven YS roast beef joint, assured by a fellow shopper those joints are excellent & melt in the mouth.
It was super jackpot day as well, my Mark’s Sparks card had offers, a free bar of Swiss milk choc [£2.50] and extra 15% off the meat, even though it was YS anyway, sounds good to me, plus usual large cauli, savoy etc.
Well chuffed I found Marks as good alternative the closed W8rose
Lunch, back to cheese & salad sarnie
Dinner, a wide choice with my YS haul, but I've decided on YS Home Bargains sweet & sour chicken + rice MFO, only because it is the one that does not state suitable for freezing, I’m sure it would be OK but may as well not take a chance just in case.It was only £1.89 when in date, so I’m not expecting a taste fest but it’ll do
Covid update on Son, all his family now have it for Half term, wife & grandson [13]are poorly, granddaughter [9] cold like, son is now allowed out of isolation, so he is duty family shopper.

Phew, made it to the end of my week! A bit of a day of all the weather here too but haven’t been out in it much. Car was in for repair today which involved lifts from 3 different people, luckily I have some lovely colleagues 🙃
Lunch was the second half of the tuna and chickpea couscous. Made a quick prawn and broccoli sweet chilli stir fry with noodles tonight (long day ending with a late meeting). Have started my holiday by decluttering the last of the red wine 🍷0 -
Cold wind and driving rain made a nice start to the day, should be grateful it wasn’t air raid sirens I suppose
Nothing planned for the day anyway, except the need for warming meals
Lunch, think I’ll open the last tin of H’s Cream of tom soup, but if rain stops could become yet another cheese & salad sarnie
Dinner, It’s full on roast, I have the Mark’s YS beef joint to cook, with my own roast spuds and add some donkey food size carrots into the roasting pan, with steamed fresh cauli & Savoy

Good morning everyone,
No snow here (yet) but lots just inland and a decent fall in Glasgow. DS1 sent a video from his window and it was fair pelting down and lying quite deeply. I do hope it misses us.
Poochless today as he has gone home with my sis though they are back tonight. I realised I was talking to a dog that wasn't there when I was making my breakfast!!
Thai green chicken curry with rice for dinner. Lunch will be an assortment of LO bits that have gathered in the fridge.0 -
Evening all 👋This week went far too fast
we were staying at Rye Harbour so a little windy walking around the Nature Reserve next to the cottage on Monday morning I was nearly blown into the sea and I'm no light weigh 😁 so we had to sheltered in their cafe and enjoy their cake 🍰 looking at a beautiful double rainbow, it's a shame it was too windy to hold the phone steady to take a picture. Otherwise we were lucky weather wise and did plenty of walking, the torrential rain was saved for the drive back which lucky for me was my sister's turn to drive 🙂
lunch was a bacon, Brie and cranberry panini at the garden centre around the corner from home. I cba be asked to go shopping and as my nephew brought me milk, dinner was a omelette and AF chips. I've a voucher for £6 off when you spend £30 at Sainsbobs so I'll force myself there tomorrowLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -
Back to spring sunshine this morning after yesterday’s torrential hail storm and gloom
Finished off my on line W8rose shop for Sunday AM delivery, Brambling the DIY 4 portions from one salmon fillet is back on offer, and now W8rose have just initiated personalised vouchers in lieu of free newspapers I had £1.50 voucher off it as well, or I think I have, depends if salmon in stock come delivery day
Lunch, yesterday’s Mark’s YS ready to cook beef turned out very well, with LOs, some of which will be in lunchtime sarnie, maybe with a touch of lettuce?
Dinner, I’ve accumulated a lot of LO cooked spuds this week, so I’ve decided on cheesy frittata thing with salad, especially now the sun’s out

Hi chums I have my second portion of carrot and lentil soup and still have at least four portions left for forthcoming lunches. So 6 soup and cracker lunches The soup costing me under 50p. 40p kilo bag of carrots ,lentils from stock and a couple of vegetable cubes and herbs and spices from my cupboards.crackers from stock and some butter or pate on the crackers. Tonights dinner is a shepperds pie from the freezer with veg also from freezer. I have a banana left in the fruit bow and some left over custard in the fridge so a very inexpensive day foodwise

Good morning everyone,
Glad you had a good break Brambling
Hi Jackie, yes hard to beat a pot of HM soup for taste and economy.
I was very MSE yesterday and used up the stalks and leaves from a cauli in last night's curry. Along with green beans they made a tasty addition to the chicken.
Really dire weather here yesterday though only a few flurries of snow thankfully it's passed and it's dry and calm this morning. However a paper recycling bin has obviously blown over near by and my front garden is full of rubbish. A job for after Tesco have been.
Sis and pooch have returned to her place as it will be a few weeks before the work resumes. I'm going to enjoy a day of relative peace and calm before DS2 collects his remaining belongings from his flat and DS1 & DIL-to-be stay over tomorrow.
LO curry for lunch and tonight is tbc possibly breaded haddock or fishfingers.1
