I've noticed that you can get good YS early in M&S Farway, at the start of lock down I would go in early Saturday mornings and pick up some good ones, they were also a lot less busy than other SMs. I agree some of their stuff is reasonably price although like W8itrose there are some shockers as well 🙂 I hope you found someone to fix you door

I was surprised to see my camellia had a couple of lovely flowers out, not sure they will have survived the wind which is now blowing outside at the moment, we seem to have a early visit of Fridays promised storm 😐

lunch was a fish finger sandwich after JSK put the idea in my head and dinner a veg pizza using a wrap as the base

  • You’re welcome, Brambling 😉

I think I’ve run out of energy and imagination this week as tonight was jacket spud with cheese and beans. Lunch was the other half of the butternut and feta couscous, which was far more creative - roasted the squash with chilli oil, lime and rosemary, and added dried cranberries to the couscous 😋

The wind has died down and the sun’s out with blue sky, calm before the storm if the forecast is to be believed, hope your camellia is still there Brambling

Locksmith for front door is hopefully arriving this morning, he sounded like helpful bloke on the end of the phone, even phoned me back which is good sign IMO so here’s hoping

The YS Marks chicken MFO was tasty, mind you full price was £3.50 so considering you could get a cheap uncooked chicken for that I suppose it should be, but I try not to judge on how much I could buy individual ingredients for because for some MFO I just CBA to make them in the first place no matter how cheap individual ingredients were

Lunch, tempted with scrambled eggs on toast now I have more eggs, not just any old eggs but M & S eggs! but could become grilled cheese, depends how I feel come lunchtime

Dinner, a one day OOD YS Marks MFO cottage pie, with steamed fresh cauli, Savoy & carrots, plus knock up extra Bisto ‘cos bound not to be enough in the CP

Good morning everyone from a windswept Ayrshire!
It's been quite wild here with lots of thunder and lightening to go with the wind. Thankfully all seems intact but there's a fair bit of damage round about and it's still pretty gusty. A tree brought the overhead cables down at the interchange point between Ayrshire & Glasgow so the trains are off. From the photos it doesn't look like any easy repair. Internet is iffy but holding so far.  Hope everyone else escaped unscathed.
Looks as though sis will be here until the weekend rather than heading back tonight. Just as well I thought that might be the case and made a vat of ragu yesterday. I'll put a lasagne together later. LO pie filling and veg for lunch.

I hope you're baton down Farway although you don't classify as the SW 💨 we aren't meant to get it so bad although they are forecasting between 65-95 km/h by tomorrow lunchtime.  Camellia three flowers survived last night not sure they will tomorrow, but there are a lot of buds as long as we don't get a late frost it will be ok

I'm going to watch a national theatre live showing tonight with my sister and nephew so early dinner easy dinner tonight

lunch was falafels in a wrap with salad and chilli jam.  Dinner beef casserole from the freezer with purple sprouting and the last of my carrots

Glad you are faring well Caron, seems it’s snow for you today, we [ me and Brambling] have just moved up to Red weather, due mid-morning but the trees are waving about a lot already and all the schools are closed so Covid riddled son now has the kids home, plus DIL ‘cos she is also a teacher & is doing on line teaching today. Their kids aren’t happy, no fun being off school with teachers for parents, no bunking off over the park instead of nose in books for instance

The locksmith arrived lunchtime yesterday & fixed the front door, needed a new gearbox, I never knew there was one, it’s the magic bit the key goes in, with levers & springs inside. Of course mine was very old and obsolete, I know that feeling, but he had a rummage and had one to suit, should see me through until I no longer have to care about it

Food today, lunch, I think a fish finger sarnie is called for, did think of sausages but too late to defrost some now I did however plan ahead for today’s rotten weather and removed the ex-Christmas pack of lamb shanks from the freezer last night and are defrosting right now

Unfortunately the pack is two in together, so I’ll have to cook both and either pig out or have one for cold cuts tomorrow. Hoping to have with steamed Savoy & cauli, and try for roast spud, carrot, parsnip, tray bake in same lamb shank oven

Lovely picture Brambling, fingers crossed it survives, which reminds me to check on the one where I volunteer, it struggles with poor chalky soil and being hit with lawn mowers, needs putting out of it's misery really and replacing with something more robust

    Good afternoon everyone,
    Gorgeous phot Brambling  :D
Hope it's not too fierce weatherwise, it's getting quite windy here now and there's snow round about though it might miss us.
Tesco have been, all present and correct.
Sis and pooch are now staying for another week after the work hit a hitch so won't complete today as hoped.
LO salad and lasagne for lunch.
"Carbonara" pizza for dinner -a Tesco recipe that looks potentially  CFO friendly if you fancy it. Carbonara Pizza Recipe | Pizza Recipes | Tesco Real Food

Just a little windy here today  :# wheelie bins were the first to go before next doors back fence went snapping the post which my back gate was secured too. I was worried that the swinging gate was going to take my fence down with the stress but with no way of securing it or removing so I was out there several times with planters and old pavers trying to keep it from twisting too much.  New gate will be required as it's too damaged, but my fence is still standing.  It will need to wait until next door fixes their fence post. I've a feeling all local fencing companies could be very busy for a while. I've been here 16 years and inherited the fence and seeing as it has wooden posts I've got away lightly, but it may be time to get it checked out.  I hope you're all in one piece 🙂

Lunch was a portion of minestrone soup from the freezer,  lazy dinner of breaded haddock and chips with sweetcorn

no work now until 1st March  :D using up last years holiday

  • Enjoy your break, Brambling. I’ve got a short week next week, can’t wait!

End of a very long week here. Threw together a roast tomato and feta pasta and served with the last of the mange tout.

Well that’s all over, Eunice has gone and the only damage near me was one door down’s fence down, apart from that nothing bad for me & mine. A few roofs off & trees down here in town but generally for me, thankfully a non-event

News arrived; my youngest granddaughter [11] now has her dad’s Covid, so next week’s half term visit is definately postponed, my son’s happier though, he can safely share his Covid Corner of the sofa with her now

Lunch, tempted to open tin of tuna for salad+ mayo type sarnie

I had planned to use the remaining lamb shank tonight, but spotting Bramblings breaded F & C has deflected me, I have a breaded fillet so it’s that + HM AF chips + peas and open the pickled shallots I was given at Christmas
