Good morning everyone,
Enjoy your time off Brambling.
Dry, cold and bright here today after a very wintry day yesterday though we avoided the snow. A fence panel at the bottom of the garden has come loose but apart from that we seem to have escaped Dudley & Eunice unscathed.
Today it's try and create space in the dining room and spare bedroom for DS2's stuff that he's collecting next weekend. My sister has finally taken the stuff she abandoned here (just for a few weeks !! ) when she moved house over two years ago!
LO pizza for lunch - it was very good but very rich and filling. DS2 is charge of dinner - air fried buffalo cauliflower "wings", brined fried chicken thighs and potato skins. I'll put together some salad and coleslaw to go with it.0 -
Cold, wet, miserable day - had some sleet too. When is it spring? Some washing, some ironing, a Sainsburys shop, swimming and pottering here.
Quiche, baked beans, bread and butter for lunch. Just made gnocchi with Stilton, spinach and walnut sauce, served with green beans 😋0 -
Ironing what's ironing! 😁
wet and miserable here as well 😐
My sister and I are off across the county border tomorrow for a few days a cottage on the coast (I've packed waterproofs and thermals 😁) we're not going far as my sister wants to be close to home. We went to the farm shop for supplies 🙂 it's about 7 miles and we passed 5 places in the road where trees had come down yesterday and had been cleared. Luckily only one looked to have been a large tree, they clear the roads pretty quickly and then collect what isn't blocking the road later.Home via T Express for non FS goodies and all the freezers were empty and most of the fridges so I'm assuming they must have lost power yesterday, considering they are 10 minute walk up the road I may have been lucky not to.
lunch was a couple of crumpets from the freezer with cheese and tomatoes. I forgot to get dinner out of the freezer and had no eggs 🙄 so dinner was jacket potato with tuna Mayo and a little salad. The cottage should have WiFi so I may post 😁I haven't told his lordship that his favourite person is cat sitting 🙂Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -
Weather has improved, dull & grey but now down to Yellow warning, nice & windy for your bracing seaside break Brambling
Found out I’d run out of peas when I went looking yesterday, how can that happen with two freezers? Returned to the dark ages & opened a small tin of peas that arrived in a food parcel during lockdown and very handy they turned out to be. I’ll replenish that in next top up along with the missing frozen peas
Lunch, was thinking of scrambled eggs on toast but maybe use the LO tuna I opened yesterday in a sarnie? I’ll see, it’s so dull & cold out that something hot is tempting
Dinner, the LO lamb shank, with frozen Aunt B’s roasties, steamed fresh cauli & Savoy, plus frozen green beans, I’ve loads of those in the freezer
I’ve taken some stewed HG apples out of freezer for a pud tonight; making a crumble did cross my mind but the butter seems to have chased after the peas, I have some but it’s posh with salt crystals, which is I suspect is not ideal for crumble

Good afternoon everyone,
I don't think I've ironed this year!
Back to wild and wet here today.
DS2 produced a gorgeous meal yesterday, the air fried buffalo cauli "wings" were to die for and easily scaled for CFO. Air Fryer Buffalo Cauliflower Recipe (Easy & Crispy) | Kitchn (thekitchn.com) We reckoned bbq sauce or even ketchup would work well if you don't like spicy. That said they were hot but not too hot.
I'm back in charge of catering today. Tonight it's pork chops with a creamy mushroom sauce, roasties and various veg. LO salad and HM blue cheese dip for lunch on a toasted ciabatta roll.0 -
Another wild & windy morning, supposed to have blown through by mid-afternoon, it should make interesting walks for Brambling in her coastal holiday cottage
Those cauliflower wings sound tempting Caron, I may try a modified version if my midweek M & S mooch produces another lovely cauliflower. I’ll probably try with ketchup & nil garlic though as I don’t have BBQ sauce and unlikely to have any other use for it if I bought some
Despite the wind & gloom I’ve plumped for salad today, one salmon fillet is out defrosting already
Lunch, use up the LO tinned tuna filling + salad bits in a sarnie
Dinner, the salmon fillet fried in butter / oil, with salad & boiled baby spuds
I have some HM HG stewed blackberry & apple left from yesterday, so maybe some of that later with ex Christmas posh W8rose ice cream

Good morning everyone,
Ketchup mixed with some L&P would be good I think Farway or a splodge of HP
Franklin was fierce here, we had thunder snow mid-evening which was both scary and impressive with lots of noise and lightening. It soon washed away though. Dry here this morning so far but it's still very windy.
Admin day for me as there's a stack of out of school club stuff needing dealt with.
I've a pan of butternut squash and red pepper soup simmering, so some of that will be lunch.
Tacos tonight filled with a mix of some of the ragu I made last week, onions, peppers, chillies and tinned mixed beans.0 -
Very windy again overnight here, was awake about 5 🙄
Office day today so some of a batch of tuna and chickpea couscous for lunch (dressing made from sweet chilli sauce, lemon juice and curry powder - unusual but nice).
Salmon with broccoli and pesto pasta tonight.0 -
Yet another grey morning, fingers crossed it brightens a bit tomorrow because I hope to get to M & S for milk & bread top up & YS mooch, and maybe into Home Bargains while I’m out. I do need to collect a prescription as well, so it’s also a Costcutter YS mooch
Meanwhile, today nothing much on, too soggy to trim garden bits up so it’s a bit of Family History on line, I did find my GG Granny being admitted to the Westminster Road, Lambeth, Orphanage at age 9, Dec 1857 even though she was not really an orphan her dad had died the year before so I guess the family were on hard times
Unlike orphans today’s CFO meals are not gruel & dry bread
Lunch, defrosting bangers right now for a sausage sarnie
Dinner, defrosting a W8rose Angus rump steak to go with HM AF chips + salad

Good morning everyone,
Wet and still quite windy here today.
Admin and housework on the "to do" today. It's just me & DS2 for dinner tonight (and pooch lol) as my sis & nephew are working. DS2 is making a chicken stir fry we both enjoy that is too spicy for my sis as she has a very low heat tolerance. HM BNS and red pepper soup for lunch.
