Very mild morning, no sun but it’s really spring now, the ornamental cherry tree opposite has the blossom is opening and any day now my edible pear tree will be opening, just big fat white buds at the moment.

Meanwhile back to earth with the dead car battery, I’ve found the booster I bought the last time this happened, never used it then but I’ll give it a try maybe tomorrow, it’s on charge right now having been sat in my boot for a couple of lockdown years

It works on YouTube so fingers crossed it works here

Off out to volunteer committee meeting this afternoon, luckily I’ve been offered a lift so that’s easy without the car

Lunch, HM packet mix loaf with fake Spam & real Branston filling

Dinner, due to the committee meeting I’m opting for LO from yesterday nuked savoury mince & dumplings instead of CFO

    Good morning everyone,
Thanks for the traybake suggestions Brambling & JKS, I'm spoilt for choice now, I do love a good traybake.  :)
The one I made yesterday was very tasty, I halved the amount of chicken but followed the recipe for the rest. There's a tub of lovely LOs for lunch.
It's DS2's birthday today so if he's not meeting up with his Dad we'll have steaks, if he is we'll have them tomorrow and I'll rake the freezer for dinner.

Hospital appointment today and their opinion is my hip pain is my hip and not my back 🤔 in fact she was very dismissive about the Dr surgery saying it was my back and seeing as she actually looked at my hip I have more confidence in her, even if I hobbled out 🙂 I think I'm falling apart 😁 not helped by my knee clicking every time she manipulated my leg 😬

Lunch was a quick mug of minestrone soup before going back to work.  After all the tray bake talk I took out of the freezer some chicken thighs and tried JKS recipe tonight as I had all the ingredients in, having a 'blond' moment I took two thighs out last night and put in the fridge to defrost and got two out this morning and defrosted on the worktop  🙄 so a portion in the freezer and a smaller one for tomorrow. I managed to slightly split the sauce not sure if it was because it was low fat crème fraiche but it tasted very nice 🙂 I had it with kale, carrots and roasted fennel

And I remembered I brought the crème fraiche to try your creamy paprika chicken Caronc so I may have that at the weekend to use it up

  • I think I’ve read that low fat creme fraiche has a tendency to split, Brambling. I bought creme fraiche to make that recipe so now need to find something to use it up in 😂

Long busy day yesterday and forgot to post. Second half of the lentil, sweet potato and feta salad for lunch. Quick and easy salmon and green bean pesto pasta last night.

Hoping for an easier day to wind down to the weekend…

    Good morning everyone,
Yes I've found that with low fat creme fraiche too, I usually rescue it with a little cornflour mixed with water.
Hope you enjoy the paprika chicken Brambling.
DS2 headed out with his Dad last night so I was CFO. After lunch there was a couple of spoons of the roast veg etc. LO, too much to ditch but not enough for a meal. I chopped it up, popped on a lurking small pizza base from the freezer and topped with a handful of grated cheese. It was lovely and I felt very MSE.  :)
Steak dinner tonight as a belated birthday meal for DS2, I've treated us to some bought onion rings to have with it.

Back to rain, not a lot, more the nuisance type than anything

I had a 50/50 wholemeal loaf in the Panny overnight so woke up to yummy bread smell; one thin crust has been sampled and found to be very acceptable

Then out to the dead battery car, I’d had the magic booster on charge last night so raring to try it out or at least find if I needed to call RAC. Connected it up to car battery and amazingly it worked just like it did on YouTube, I never would’ve thought something not much larger my mitt would be able to start a car, but seeing is believing.  Definitely recommended for anyone with dodgy car battery

Went for a zip up the dual carriageway to give the battery a top up so hopefully all fixed now

Lunch, with the new HM loaf it’s sausage sarnie time

Dinner, Steak Snap Caron, tonight it’s sirloin steak from W8rose delivery last week, with HM AF chips & last of the salad bits. At least now car is back & running I may trot round Marks early next week for some fresh salad bits

  • Started out bright and sunny but rain appeared again this afternoon. Haven’t had to leave the house though 🙃

Filled pasta with tuna, peas, sun dried tomatoes and rocket for lunch. Bit of a use it up concoction tonight - sweet potato and gammon hash with added spinach and spring onions, served with a fried egg and toasted garlic sourdough.

After yesterday's lovely day it's rained all day here and is forecasted for the weekend 😐

This week seems to have very quick the advantage of work being busy 🙂

My power company emailed my new rates today I have until the end of month to decide if I want to take up their offer of a eye watering fixed rate, TBH I'm really not sure if the best option especially looking at the news at the moment 🤔

I made a couple of scotch eggs in the AF lunchtime using a couple of my FS nice pork and leek sausages, I had one today with salad and will have the other tomorrow lunch.  Dinner was a easy ping of LOs from yesterday dinner

    Good morning everyone,
Tipping it down one minute here then sunny the next. It's quite chilly. I'm hoping it dries up later as I'm off out to the local pub for dinner with DS2, my sister and nephew. We were supposed to be having a family get together but that's on hold until DS1 has recovered from COVID and we can get another date that suits everyone.
    BLT for lunch I think.

Rain when I woke, but sunny with rain around & a cold breeze now so not enticing me out

Checking use by dates on the fresh Asda meat I've decided to freeze the diced steak, just not enough time and I prefer the pork for tomorrow, ideal for roast dinner I think

More going into the freezer later, sausages, I pack into twos and freeze them. I must admit a toad in H was calling me this morning but reckon roast pork has the edge given a choice

Lunch, another banger sarnie, and then freeze the rest of them

Dinner, ping LO savoury mince & dumplings to clear it out of the way
