I hope you had a lovely dinner Caronc 🙂

it's been a lovely sunny day 🌞 this morning I needed to go to pick up a new laptop power supply from the office, I had planned to go to the farm shop which is half way between the office and home but decided instead to go to the large Waitrose next to the office and cancel my delivery for later in the week 🙂 I managed to remember most of the items on my order I also added a few not on it  :*  I decided against their salmon even though I had £3 off as I'd been told it was still cheaper in Lidl.  After lunch I picked up some cat food using the quarterly vouchers from pets@home and picked up some salmon from Lidl on the way home I'll divide it up and freeze tomorrow.  The traffic in town was surprisingly manic until I realised there were diversions and a accident on the diversion route  :s luckily I was able to turn down a side road

i started sorting the larder cupboard this evening after dinner until I got 😑 the kitchen is currently a mess so it will need to be finished tomorrow morning and I'll menu plan afterwards

lunch was HM scotch egg and salad.  Dinner was smoke mackerel kedgeree with peas and broad beans

Mixed weather already, rain woke me up during the night but it was bright sun when I got up, now it’s clouding over so goodness knows what next, not that I’m going out except for maybe check the garden for new growth and tell the rhubarb to get a move on

Today is banana loaf day because I seem to have loads all of a sudden and three were definitely at use quick stage. It’s in the oven as I type, smelling nice but not yet cooked

Lunch is sample the B Loaf, if not ruined / burnt etc and probably another sausage sarnie, then freeze the remainder of the sausages

Dinner, anticipating full on roast, using the Asda boned pork leg, own roasties, steamed cauli, cabbage, carrots & broccolli

    Good morning everyone,
Dinner out last night was good, I had my favourite Cajun spiced butterflied chicken breast sandwich with salad and fries. Easy one tonight of a Christmas dinner leftovers pie, mash from a batch I froze a couple of weeks ago, savoy cabbage, carrots, green beans and gravy. The gravy is also a "here's one I made earlier" so just the veg to prep.
Dry but very windy here today, DS2 has lugged some compost onto the deck for me so if it stays dry I plan to get my tomato & cucumber seeds planted. I'm not growing so many this year as the covered deck is likely to be out of action for a chunk of the growing season so I'll just have the greenhouse and conservatory as growing spaces.
  • I was out last night too - we shared mezze and then all had baklava for dessert 😋

Lunch yesterday was scrambled eggs and mushrooms on toasted bagel.

Bit of an unproductive day yesterday but done better today…ironing and grocery shopping before swimming then some domestics and food prep this afternoon.

Very MSE CFO lunch today - made soup with the end of a head of celery and the LO stock that was hanging around in the fridge, had it with a sandwich made from the end of a tin of tuna 🙃

Roast chicken tonight with roast potatoes and chantenay carrots, and broccoli and cauliflower mornay (used up some of the creme fraiche in a cheat’s sauce). Plenty of LOs…

Wet day here so his lordship and I have done some vegging out 😁

I put the kitchen back together this morning and larder cupboard is tidied.  I made a batch of minestrone soup using some super market bacon from the freezer and the last of the older veg 🙂 two portions in the freezer and four portions for lunches this week.

It's been a double rice day, lunch was kedgeree LOs. For dinner I cooked the creamy paprika chicken as recommended by Caronc, definitely one I'll do again, the crème fraiche worked with no splitting in this sauce, i served with rice, runner beans and tenderstem broccoli.

Very watery sunshine after a misty start but nothing planned that’s weather dependant

I shall also be shuffling through tomato seed packets Caron, likewise not growing as many this year but I did hear on R4 farming programme that a lot of commercial UK greenhouse  grown food, like toms & cucs, may become unviable due to steep rise in cost of heating and fertiliser. Time will tell, but nothing beats a nice sun warmed tom freshly picked does it?

Last night’s roast pork was a good un, also hearing on same R4 farming prog about UK pig  /pork costs, seems we need to eat more British raised despite costs. Checked the Asda one I had, Danish, must try harder. I used to get local raised but Covid on line shopping has restricted my foraging

Back to food for today, a few slices of my HM banana loaf may feature at odd times during the day

Lunch, grilled cheese on stale HM bread toast + pickle

Dinner, LO cold roast pork, maybe HM AF chips and maybe some salad bits

    Good morning everyone,
Glad you enjoyed the chicken dish Brambling and the creme fraiche behaved!
Yes definitely hard to beat a freshly picked tom Farway, I got my seeds started yesterday "just" 13 types of toms this year lol!!
Back to wet and dreich here this morning.
My sister's pooch arrived for an overnight stay yesterday afternoon. Unfortunately late afternoon he had a rather violent tummy upset, even more unfortunate that he decided the spare bedroom was a good place to have it.......  :'(  Thank goodness for disinfectant, rubber gloves and DS2! There's been no further episodes so I've given him a small amount of plain chicken and boiled rice this morning which he wolfed down so it's a case of fingers crossed now .
My sister is coming for dinner tonight and to collect him, I'm cooking a layered pasta bake using a tub of ragu from the freezer which will cut down on the prep. LO pie etc. for lunch.

I hope there were no more episodes of exploding dog Caronc

Dentist checkup this morning so I'm £23 lighter but luckily no further treatment needed other than a watch on my one wisdom tooth  :#

work was steady but not manic, just enough to make the day go fast without wanting to pull my hair out  :)

lunch as a portion of minestrone soup, I made a bolognese sauce lunchtime with plenty of added veggies and had spaghetti bolognese for dinner, I left one portion out for Wednesday dinner and froze three portion of the sauce

  • Late check in today. Don’t know where the day has gone but like Brambling not a manic one thank goodness 🙃

Lunch was butternut squash and feta salad which used a Lidl pouch of Middle Eastern style grains as the base, I added chopped coriander and lemon infused oil, was alright.

Nice, easy reheat of roast dinner tonight and then finished up the last few cherries with a cuppa - the odd one was lovely but they were mostly a bit average. Watched the new ITV drama tonight, Holding, I enjoyed it, funny and clever.

Sunny day ahead I think, with more to come. Let’s hope so because it’s getting very much like spring out there now

I may make a seed sowing later today, get some toms in at least, but not thirteen varieties, never know though, now I’m tempted, must be space to squeeze them in somewhere

Means I’ll have to sort out the conservatory soon to make space, I have to report it has turned into an extension of my shed over winter, full of bits & bobs that I couldn’t BA to take down the shed in the mank of winter

Must have been a Dental Memo posted Brambling, my pre Covid dentist mentioned wisdom teeth, maybe remove them etc. I took the view that for over umpteen decades they have been fine so I’ll leave them in my mouth for now thank you. Post Covid not =been mentioned, I suspect they have enough work to be getting on with now

Food today, its use up opened packet of Asda bangers day

I made a fresh loaf yesterday evening, so it’s AF sausages sarnie for lunch

Dinner, sausages, eggs, HM AF chips & open a tin of beans

Tomorrow morning, assuming I can get car started, I’m off to Marks for salad bits & YS mooch
