Morning folks, it’s neither rain nor sun, just not made its mind up yet
Brambling, best of luck with the W8rose delivery, fingers crossed for salmon & gammon. I’ve not yet portioned up the salmon because I keep dithering on dinner, salmon, gammon, beef stew? CFO is hard post Food delivery
The IT issues sound a right pain, one of the problems with relying on it so much these days, I was watching TV this morning and moan was about GCSEs having to remember stuff when it could be looked up so easily, I don’t suppose I was the only person in danger of chucking things at the TV
Food today, I have plenty of gammon / ham, and stale bread but thinking of toast with scrambled eggs and some fried mushrooms. If my bread was fresh it would be ham sarnie
Dinner, probably use the lovely diced beef in stew / casserole. Dumplings may appear
Not sure I would know how to handle ox cheek even if I had some. However the local Farm Shop does say “we supply every cut from brisket to fillet steak, oxtail to flank steak.” So could be a source if I cared to venture down that route
I will portion up & freeze the salmon later today

Good morning everyone,
Back to cold and wet here this morning.
Hope IT issues don't plague you today Brambling.
I'd certainly recommend trying ox cheek Farway, just use as you would stewing beef but it will take a longer time to be tender. The flavour is wonderful as is the resulting gravy.I'm using some today to make a cottage pie for dinner.
Lunch will be LO tandoori chicken and salad in a wrap.
No leftovers from last night, I ended up making it in a pan as a quesadilla and topping it with a fried egg. With the LO roast veg it made a very quick and tasty meal in less than 15 minutes from fridge to plate!

Has felt really cold here today after a few mild days.
Back in the office and was glad of my mug of LO chicken and bean stew that I nuked and had with a chunk of focaccia. Just had mushrooms and poached eggs on toast for early tea before swimming. There’ll probably be a Penguin with a cuppa while I catch up on Bake Off later 😉0 -

I once explained the reference library to two stunned 22 year olds 🙄 who were speechless when I explained it was a four mile bus journey to the nearest town, you needed to tell the librarian what you wanted and she went and looked for books she thought would help and you would either have to spend a lot on photocopies or make notes 😁 and we were expected to do this for A levels
Lunch and dinner were rather cba I decided against freezing the curry LOs so lunch was the sauce as there was plenty over LO cauliflower and dinner had chicken in the sauce 😁 and was served with rice. Stewed apple and blackberries for afters and I now have custard 😋

Looking like a nice day out this morning, misty start with sunshine, very ethereal, bet there are a few good photos taken in this morning’s sunrise. Not by me, I was fast asleep then
Yesterday’s beef stew turned out well, except by the time I remembered to add dumplings it was getting late, so I did without. As it happened I was full anyway, with two lots of LOs for another day lurking in the 'fridge
Bit of a bonus in this morning’s e mail, I’m a member of Shop & Scan and they wanted photos of the new W8rose marge I bought on offer Saturday, a nice easy 200 points
Just taken a loaf out of the Panny, was timed overnight and now cooling for lunchtime sarnie, with LO sliced gammon & extra S & S points marge
Dinner, more of the ham and maybe with HM AF chips & fried eggs?

Good evening everyone,
My boys are just old enough to remember having to go to the library to research things for school projects but my nephew a few years younger doesn't. By the time he was at school and doing that sort of project most folk access to computers via the library if not at home. My Papa had a real thirst for knowledge and could often be found in the reading room at the library researching things that took his interest. Very changed days indeed, he would have adored the internet at home but sadly died just when home computers were just becoming a thing. What befuddled my kids were his Ready Reckoners and Log Tables - that's what calculators were for!
I've had a "moment" in the mash department - as I needed some yesterday for cottage pie I thought I may as well make a decent sized batch only to realise past the point of no return I had done exactly the same a couple of weeks ago! So if anyone wants a dollop or five lobbed their way let me know, it's rather decent if I do say so myself. I'll decide tomorrow as I didn't get that far today what to do with it but tonight I'm having pasta with a veg & pesto sauce.
My young cousin visited earlier for a cuppa. catch up and a light lunch. I made us bagels with cream cheese, ham & gherkins which were really tasty. It was lovely to see her as she's always full of life and chat.0 -
Blood test lunchtime considering there were 4 nurses and only 8 people in front of me it still took nearly 40 mins 🙄 I've managed quite acquire a large bruise this time 🤨
Not a lot of time when I got back so lunch was a bowl of stewed fruit and Greek yogurt with a banana mid afternoon. I took some mutton casserole and dumplings out of the freezer for dinner and had with new potatoes, cabbage and the last of the cauliflower.

Vegetable chilli (from the frozen batch) with a grating of cheese and a toasted pitta for lunch. More batched freezer food tonight, some more of the chicken and orzo, served with some steamed tender stem broccoli.
Easy CFO day, which I was glad of tonight as feel like I’m coming down with something 🙄
Off to bed to hopefully sleep it off 🤞0 -
Dull & mild start to the day.
Which is fine because I have a heart appointment at hospital this morning. I don’t know what’s involved but usual weight & blood pressure I guess, maybe ECG, and then review with the Dr once the figures are checked. Hoping something positive comes out of it but with CV I suspect I’ll continue on the wait & see list for a bit
Lunch, will be post hospital and could be in a garden centre café on the way home, followed by mooch around the attached Farm Shop, I can nearly taste the yummy bacon I hope to buy as I type
Dinner, depends on how lunch went, I have LO beef stew and LO gammon, and LO fresh loaf so could be nuked stew or a gammon sarnie
I could have some of Caron’s excess mash if you can roll some down to me please
Blood test bruising, I used to be awful for that, like I’d gone a few rounds with Mike Tyson, but I now make sure I have gallons of water before I go which I’m told helps, and it seems to. Just need to keep the loo door in sight though
JKS, hope you cleared it overnight and feel well

Good morning everyone,
Hope you feel okay today JKS.
Ouch Brambling hope it's not too tender.
Good luck at the hospital Farway, I lob some mash in your direction.
Damp and dull here this morning but milder than yesterday.
Domestics and voluntary admin to keep me occupied today.
LO pasta for lunch and corned beef hash for dinner to use up some of the surplus mash.0
