I haven't eaten haslet since I was at school nor brawn which was something else mum brought for picnics
Quiet ish work day 🙂 it seems I should have been attending meetings the last couple of days but no one invited me 🙄 20 plus people on the calls so I was easy miss even by the boss 😁 I was heartbroken to miss two three hour meetings 😁😴
Dinner out tonight a retirement leaving do for one of our very small team so only 5 of us, but the big boss paid 😁 and because she lives near me the others came to us. Lovely to catch up in person the first time since March 20, good food which tasted better for being free 😋 unfortunately I ate too much, I was led astray and talked into having a pudding. Tomorrow will be light eating day
Off to find the Rennie now 😬

Mild, dull & dry out, sort of nondescript nothing weather.I've never liked haslet, just not to my taste, if it was my corned beef sub it would've gone back with the driver
W8rose delivery today, due in about an hour and everything ordered is there, including on offer gammon & salmon and posh pork bangers. Then back to fridge full of food and trying to decide what to eat
Just in case I can’t decide I’ve got a loaf in the Panny so a posh sausage sarnie could be dinner
I’m hobbling around now with my left hoof hurting and couldn’t think why, then I remembered I’d walked into the bed the other night on return from the bathroom in the dark, at the time I thought I’d got away with it, seems I was mistaken. Actually it’s easing off from what it was last night when it was painful just sitting down
Food today is a bit dependant on dates on the delivery, lunch I’m tempted to have a frozen pizza sub but may finish up with toasted stale crust & jam
Dinner, again depending on fresh meat dates, intention is posh pork bangers & mash, I have LO baked beans which will be ideal

Good afternoon everyone,
Always nice to be dined at the boss's expense Brambling. What a shame you missed those meetings.
Bung any haslet that comes your way to me Farway, I really enjoyed it but not something I've thought of buying in recent years.
Dry and mild here today after some wild weather yesterday. I've had a fairly productive morning catching up on various domestic bits and pieces so happy to get back to the voluntary admin and a sit down this afternoon.
My internet was playing up last night so never managed to catch up with Masterchef, it seems to be fine today but it seems to have been fairly widespread going by FB comments.
Rinse and repeat with a haslet sandwich for lunch and I've popped the chicken in a tandoori marinade this morning to roast with sweet potatoes, peppers and courgette for dinner this evening. For tomorrow I've liberated some ox cheeks from the frozen depths to slow cook with baby shallots and mushrooms. They've been in there for a while as DS2 isn't keen but they were vac packed so seem fine.

I hope the foot is feeling better Farway 🙂 I've been avoiding updating my W8itrose order as a couple of items were OOS tonight they were back in stock so I went in and tweaked it
A late finish last night meant a slow start this morning, well as slow as his Lordship let me 🙄 my sis and I went to a Christmas Market this morning at a garden centre just outside town, they are a charity run garden centre offering accommodation and training to young people 'from a problematic background' lots of local stall holders and i managed to buy my first Christmas present 🙂 their cafe had a long queue and I know from previous visits they can be very slow so we called in to Hilliers on the way back. We shared a bacon and Brie panini so we could have a piece of cake each 😋 as it seemed wrong to have just cake for lunch 😁
A light late dinner of mushroom omelette and salad

Another dull morning, but I’ve been up since six, just couldn’t sleep so got up. Time not wasted though, there’s a bread pudding in the oven right now. That’s the trouble with making bread and not eating much of it I always have a large crust end left over, not wasted though; maybe “waisted” as in that’s where it seems to finish up
Thanks Brambling,my foot seems to have repaired itself now, just hope I don't drop a lump of bread pud on it
There was a mix up with yesterday’s W8rose shopping, they left the basket with fresh fruit & veg behind, or it went on the wrong lorry. Very apologetic driver at the door, they knew & realised before I did, then the store phoned by which time I had completed my stock check & knew what was missing
A few hours later the missing fruit & veg arrived, they must have repacked it, I have loads of broccoli, must be four huge heads of the stuff, and enough carrots for a donkey sanctuary. Fingers crossed they don’t charge for what I now have & keep the cost at what I originally ordered & was picked / packed
The on offer gammon I cooked yesterday just thought I’d get that done & out of the way. It’s the pointy end this time, not middle bit, booo
. Tasty enough if a bit salty this time round
The posh No 1 bangers on offer are tasty, OK on offer but a tad pricey for general purpose at Farway Towers
Today’s meals, lunch is posh banger sarnie
Dinner has to involve broccoli & carrots. I may try roast spuds, steamed B & Cs and last of the posh bangers, with gravy
Bread pud to follow if peckish
PS, no idea why the smileys are all over the place and not whre carefully postioned at end of the line.

Good afternoon everyone,
Good your order was promptly sorted Farway. Broccoli soup perhaps or some in cheese sauce?
Gloomy but dry here today. Next door's cat was waiting on my deck for me this morning and has been snoozing on the kitchen chair ever since. He's clearly been fighting again, he's getting to an old boy now and I think his place as "top cat" is being seriously challenged.
I discovered two small vac packs of smoked salmon in the freezer so one and a bagel have been defrosted for lunch. I have cream cheese but no horseradish but will add a few drops of Tabasco instead.
Beef cheeks are still defrosting, I've moved them from the fridge to the counter so I can cook them later this afternoon. I'm debating a dumpling or two.0 -
Wet day gave me the excuse to stay indoors and do very little other than housework this morning 🙂
Lunch was sausage sandwich using a couple of farm shop sausages from the freezer. I did make a effort for dinner so not quite a lazy day 😁 chicken dhansak, spiced carrot and cabbage stir fry, 'gunpowder' potatoes, cauliflower rather than rice and a quick pickled cucumber. I stewed apple and blackberries but decided against crumble but didn't need a dessert, just as well as no custardLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -
Weather is duller than yesterday’s, just a gloomy November Monday morning. At least I no longer have to get up to go to work in it
Sorted through my W8rose meat delivery checking BBE dates to see what needs freezing or using first.
One job for later is portion up & freeze the on offer salmon fillet. The diced beef [part of 3 for a tenner] looks nice, big chunks. That has shortest BBE date of this Wednesday so probably be a stew tomorrow now I have cooked the gammon joint. The steaks are very long dated, 22nd from memory, loads of time
I never had the last of the bangers last night, had the roast spuds & veg but never fancied frying the bangers, so lunch today is a sausage sarnie, Snap Brambling
Dinner, a not ideal in this weather ham salad, I have LO mash I can nuke; gammon is cooked, just needs slicing and the salad bits prepping. Quite fancy mash with salad cream blobbed on
Bread pudding turned out well and is lurking to be nibbled at when passing

Good morning everyone,
Sunny here today after a gloomy one yesterday and quite a lot of rain overnight.
My the ox cheek stew was gorgeous, just as well as there's lots left! In the end I decided against dumplings and had some steamed baby spuds instead. I'll portion and freeze most of what's left but use some in a cottage pie tomorrow.
To hopefully avoid collecting more LOs I'm planning on making this Egg Tortilla Pie | Nigella's Recipes | Nigella Lawson or a quesadilla which I'll have with the LO roast veg from Saturday. There was enough smoked salmon to have another bagel for lunch today.

I think I'll have to visit the butcher for ox cheek Caronc it does make a lovely stew 🙂
W8itrose order has been tweaked hopefully the gammon and salmon will be available tomorrow 🤞I was lucky to avoid working on Saturday as they ended up working until midnight Saturday and system issues continued onto Sunday and today so my colleague worked all day yesterday. We upgraded our main system in May and it's been one issue after another ever since 🙄 at least it meant the day went quickly 🙂
Lunch was sardines on toast with added ketchup, the tins were multiplying in the cupboardI decided against LO curry for dinner and made lamb koftas with stir fry peppers and shallots in a wrap with a yogurt dressing and some of the pickled cucumber LO from yesterday. Using last of the peppers, shallots, wraps and yoghurt in a fridge clear out before tomorrow's delivery. I may freeze the LO curry I'll see what I fancy tomorrow (I'm also trying to avoid adding HM RMs to the freezer as I have a drawer full
