Thanks caronc - I don’t put tomatoes in my fajitas so will have a go at my usual recipe and just swap the chicken for halloumi, what could possibly go wrong…
Office day today so cherry tomato, mozzarella and pesto couscous for lunch. Salmon with green bean and pesto pasta tonight. Hmm, double pesto was slightly bad planning 😜0 -
I use to buy pig cheeks occasionally from the meat counter at the W8itrose next to the office and they were often reduced in the summer so I would stock up and freeze. It was the same with their beef cheeks 🙂. The one here although just as big doesn't seem to do them
garden bin collection tomorrow as well Farway, so I spent a hour after work in the garden just to ensure it went out full. The brambles under my neighbours tree which is on the boundary of our gardens had invaded my garden and were going out onto the pavement so I tackled those as well, he mows my lawn so not a problem doing that for him, although my arms and hands are a little battered now, should have worn gloves and long sleeves 🙄 especially as I react to something in the front garden and ended up itching again😬
lunchtime I chopped up loads of veg and will make a tomato and veg sauce in the SC tomorrow, I defrosted some pancetta and chorizo to add to it and will freeze most of it as I'm out of stocks in the freezer
Lunch was a bacon sandwich, as I found a couple of nice thick Farm shop rashers in the freezer. Dinner was also from the freezer, a JO chicken Kiev in filo with Runner beans and I used up the last of some sweetheart cabbage and new potatoesLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -
Sunny day out, watered pots out the front, collected prescription and bought eggs + milk. Worn out already.Plus garden wheelie bin emptied which is an achievement round here, from FB chatter seems lots of wheelies get missed due sickness etc but that's the adjacent Council so maybe my one is better organised? The blackberries & apples turned out well, loads once I started picking in earnest and more to ripen, who needs five shilling 25p bananas this time of yearMeals today, I've had a shuffle around because I'm over DDs tomorrow PM, first time since Christmas 2019, was planned Easter time 2020 but along came CovidHowever because I'm eating over there my LO mash from yesterday can be used today if that makes sense? Thus lunch is corned beef & tom sarnieDinner becomes corned beef hash with fried , just bought, eggs & open a tin of beansIf hungry there's stewed blackberry & apple laterGardener’s pest is chef’s escargot0

Good morning everyone,
Enjoy your visit to DDs Farway, it's been a long time coming.
Tesco just been - no subs
Gloomy here today but I'm hoping the sun will break through as it did yesterday.
I'm finally getting some ripe tomatoes, picked a large tub full yesterday as opposed to the usual ones and twos it's been up to now. That said a lot of the plants have grey mould so might need to pick the green ones in the next couple of weeks and ripen them indoors. Seems to have been a short season, despite lots of tlc my hanging baskets are well passed their best and will be getting taken down over the next few days.
Cheese & ham toastie & tomatoes for lunch. Probably breaded cod, peas, broad beans and a baked spud for dinner.0 -
Had a nice, productive day wfh today, and I got out for a swim at lunchtime 😀
Lunch was a smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel with rocket and cucumber. Made halloumi fajitas tonight 😋
Been a nice short week but looking forward to the long weekend, enjoy everyone!0 -
My last day of work for a couple of weeks 😁 with just the manager and I working, surprisingly although it was busy it was a stress free day, one of my colleagues has the habit of calling a meeting and discussing an email at length taking a hour to discuss a 15mins piece of work 🙄. We managed to evenly split the work between us help by just a hour meeting with a couple of overseas colleagues first thing. Before work I put in a batch of tomato and veg sauce into the SC, unfortunately I seemed determined to fill up the SC so I have a large amount for the freezer
I can't SC small portions 😁 its just as well it's tasty, with a little pancetta and chorizo for meaty flavour which i fried off first to render off the fat
lunch was a fish finger sandwich using W8itrose chunky !!!!!!. Dinner a portion of sauce with pasta and a grating of ParmesanLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -
Sunny but cooler than of late, should be fine for sitting out over DD's if required, never know with her but she has a very large garden so could even be BBQ but doubt it, actually a cream tea would be nice IMO, especially if someone eles is doing it, all of them are good cake makers though [twin teenage girls] so I have secret hopesFood for today is lunch only, probably toast & summat spread on, jam or Marmite?Normally never come back hungry from DD's but should it happen there's LO stewed blackberry & appleBrambling said:lunch was a fish finger sandwich using W8itrose chunky !!!!!!.Gardener’s pest is chef’s escargot0

Good morning everyone,
Good to read you made the halloumi fajita JKS.
Oh two weeks off Brambling -enjoy!
I found lurking fish fingers too Farway - not Waitrose but Tesco Finest. Just enough me though so they will be getting kept until DS2 isn't about.
Overcast cast and cooler today but dry which is the main thing. My hanging and wall baskets are emptied, DS2 will take them to the tip to get composted. I'll make a start on the greenhouse today as some of the plants are succumbing to grey mould so they need removed, I'll ripen the fruit on trays in the conservatory.
BLT I think for lunch. DS2 is cooking this evening - Korean style fried chicken wings in the air fryer.0 -
I hope you had a good family day Farway and got your HM cake. I hadn't seen the !!!!! for my FFinger abbreviation 🙄
quick trip into town this morning to pickup my prescription and some bits from Wilko and savers. Then my sis and I went to a walk around Leonardslee Gardens, they have a sculpture exhibition throughout the gardens at the moment 🙂 Lunch was a sandwich there and we fought the wasps 😬
Dinner was a quick beaded haddock and chips with runner beans as I forgot to take out a HM RM.
I'm going to my Sis &BIL static caravan in Dorset early tomorrow for a week so no WiFi, hopefully all the BH traffic was Friday or today but if I leave by 7am it's not usually too bad. His lordship will enjoy being spoilt by my nephew for the week, at least his mother is about to pick any beans or courgettes this time 🙂 I'm just hoping the dog doesn't make me wheeze too much or I'll be back earlier than planned.
We will make the decision tomorrow whether we do any family visiting, I would really like to see my eldest sis and bil as it's been two years they both are still shielding and missed both their 80th birthdays and their 60th Wedding Anniversary celebrations. If the weather is nice we will try for a hour on the patio they only live about 45 mins from the caravan.

Good afternoon everyone,
Enjoy your trip Brambling, I always used love caravan holidays.
Overcast here today but dry.
Yesterday I discovered that my greenhouse tomatoes were showing signs of blightso it was a rescue mission. My conservatory is now laden with trays of semi-ripe and green tomatoes. Greenhouse has been cleared apart from the cucumber plant which is definitely having a revival.
I'm quite stiff after all the picking and plant removal yesterday so nothing two strenuous on the cards today. A gentle potter in the kitchen will do. LOs for lunch and tonight I'm cooking a slightly tweaked version of this using lamb steaks and green beans. Lamb cutlets with pea salad recipe - BBC Food0
