I was up at still dark o'clock, just couldn't get settled back to snoozing, mind you I did spend a lot of time nodding off during the day yesterday. I blame the tabletsThe early start at least gave me ample time to get a ciabatta into the Panny and now a nice smell stating to waft aroundI have one portion of rhubarb crumble left and the 'fridge is looking very empty, like you Brambling I could carry on with what I have, having topped up with milk / bananas yesterday. I'll make a start to my on line list soon but I keep thinking of things to add, cooking oil is now running low, plenty really but I'm in CFO lock down mode still so need to hoard standby stockA second for tinned sardines Caron, one of my hoard standby itemsLunch, sarnie using the fresh loaf, not sure of filling yetDinner, use up, stale bread toast, open tin of spaghetti with pair of use up eggs on topUse up last of the HM crumbleSampled a couple of strawberries & raspberries from the garden yesterday, a taster is all I have TBH but it'll do for now. I'm never going to have enough for pots of jam much as I'd like toAnd now I have some flowers on the runners and embryo tomatoes the HG veggies are on the wayEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0

Good afternoon everyone,
Lol many of my kitchen "bits" are due to making up order value to get free delivery.
Raining here today but still very warm. Good for the garden but I'll still need to water the greenhouse.
I've a couple of cucumbers that should be ready in a couple of weeks, I'm so looking forward to picking the first one.
DS2 had a very late one though only had a few drinks so is tired but not hungover today though has only just surfaced. He had hoped to make a start on the fence but it's not the weather for concreting posts in. I don't think a lazy day will go amiss, he's been working long hours and busy in his downtime.
BLT wrap for lunch and JO's jerk chicken & pineapple sandwiches for dinner with wedges, corn and HM coleslaw.0 -
A very lazy day today - there has been a lot of tennis to watch!I did go for a swim before it started and have also done a meal plan and shopping list.
Lunch was goat’s cheese, tomato and avocado salad (with a slice of bread) and dinner was miso pork chop with noodles and stir fried broccoli.0 -
I like my sardines in tomato sauce, on white toast popped back under the grill and extra tomato ketchup squirted on top (Heinz of course 😁) I will also do the same with tinned mackerel 🙂
it was wet until nearly lunchtime so I combined my quest for salad and bananas with taking the car out for a much needed run and drove out to the farm shop. I was very good and avoided the temptation of their butcher counter but did succumb to strawberries and melon 😋
The FS only had blue topped milk so I came home via T Express, where some 'intelligent' person decided to block the car park, they wanted a space but didn't seem to see the need to let four of us out so we could free them up, it's not a big car park and a awkward shape. After some shuffling we all got out but they did also managed to block the main road out of town in the process 🙄
Lunch was a cheese and salad sandwich 😁 and it was snap with Caronc for dinner 😁 I had LO coleslaw and a corn on the cob from yesterday and the rest was found in my freezer rummage, I had cooked the corn last night so I could char it to go with the chicken tonight. I'm not usually a fan of fruit with meat but I do like this recipe from JO and his pork and peach sweet n sour also from the same bookLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -
A damp but not really raining start to the day but it's going to be a lolling around one anyway now the garden has been rained on and watering is not requiredQuick update, it's tipping down right now and black as coal outsideAfter the tinned sardine items I hunted a tin down in the stock pile, only a year OOD so it was in yesterday's lunchtime sarnie, very nice with freshly ground black pepperbrambling, I'm another one who likes them grilled on toast, never thought of extra ketchup squirt though, duly notedFollowing the fishy trail I've added a couple more tins to my on line list, plus tinned mackerel which I also like but had not realised I was out of themI find the pricing odd, tinned in tom sauce costs less than in brine, but to my mind it must cost more to make sauce than add salt to water? Or maybe just charging more because they can? I noted the brined is sold out so seems to be working whatever the reasonLunch today is another tinned sardine sarnie, I may sneak a lettuce leaf in there for added hearty healthDinner, something from the freezer, could be F & Cs, ,pizza or a pinging MFO. I'll decide closer to the timeEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0

Good afternoon everyone,
Oh yes sardines or pilchards in tomato sauce mashed then grilled on toast are gorgeous, no extra ketchup for me but some tabasco or hot chilli sauce mashed in hits the spot.
"Old skool" pud for us today a milk jelly made with raspberry jelly and evaporated milk. I've not made one for more years than I care to remember. We'll have the jelly with tinned peaches and evaporated milk.
I hope you enjoyed the jerk chicken & pineapple as much as we did Brambling - great minds and all that! Like you I'm not always that keen on meat/fruit combinations but that and the sweet and sour pork with made with tinned peaches are really good.
Rain here today with weather warning for thunder etc. this afternoon. I had hoped to potter in the garden but I can't see that happening.
Cheese & LO HM coleslaw wrap for lunch. Tonight I'm cooking veal schnitzel with Ayrshire tatties and various veg.1 -
Real sunshine and showers day here. Managed to get my outside chore done fairly early and stayed dry 😀
I then did a food shop, had a swim and some lunch and was exhausted!
Lunch was smashed avocado and scrambled eggs on a bagel. I put a silverside beef joint in the slow cooker with half an onion, some manky carrots, the end of a bottle of red I had frozen and a beef stock pot. Five hours later I just needed to thicken the gravy a bit. Served with crushed new potatoes and green beans 😋 Plenty of leftovers…0 -
I woke up to heavy showers this morning and like JKS it's been a mixed day weather wiseI tackled some paperwork from the spare bedroom, I thought I had shredded most of the old stuff but the was a folder of really old paperwork all of it has now been shredded. I must also deal with a large quantity of bags to donate to charity.Lunch was a sausage sandwich from some chipolatas I found in the freezer, unfortunately I have no brown sauce 😐 Dinner was a vegetable 'chilli' type thing 😁 all the old manky vegetables chopped up with some lentils and spices and a tablespoon of peanut butter stirred in, Definitely cleared my sinuses 😁 and as I can't CFO one portion in the fridge and two in the freezer 🙄Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0

Seemed so at the time anywayI'm still in use up / clear out /make space mode for meals and today is no exceptionLunch, last of the old tinned sardines, with lettuce in a sarnieDinner, defrosting last couple of bangers found lurking, and re-hydrate remains of OOD instant mash packet, I think with frozen veggies and instant gravy. Suits the weather, sunny spells and warmish with a stiff breezeEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
Good morning everyone,
Wet and grey here today and markedly cooler. We escaped the thunder but there were some very heavy downpours overnight.
The milk jelly was as good as I remembered them being.
I've not much planned for today apart from some housework. More tea is needed before I start to tackle the dust!
Cheese and the last of the HM coleslaw for lunch. DS2 is in charge of catering tonight and making a chicken & cucumber stir fry.0
