JKS my menu planning is usslly a little what i fancy combined with what is see and what's in the cupboard I want/need to use up. I do miss the wander around the SM seeing what catches my eye or what's on offer.  I'm really bad at adding a item to my shopping list and once brought I can't remember what it was intended for  :)

That shopping style is very similar to mine, or was pre CV, and like you I do miss the mooching and a YS deciding a meal for me
Sunny day here so today is more salad, especially as cross channel rain may arrive tomorrow

The loaf turned out superb, used W8rose bread flour this time, not the posh Canadian one though.
Trouble is I'm never sure if some minor change, such as tad extra yeast or whatever makes a difference & CBA to try something scientific like measuring within an inch gramme of it's life

Lunch is yummy loaf used for a sarnie, filling undecided, could be cheese or maybe open jar of paste?
Dinner, as above, salad, I have LO HM coleslaw and I may add a small [subbed tin] of tuna to that plus HM AF chips

At some stage today I will prune my pyracantha before it goes full on triffid

    Good morning everyone,
I'm not convinced that even if measure everything to a t that in a domestic setting it guarantees the same result every time. Air temperature & humidity etc. all play a part. That's my excuse for not being too precise when making bread (or most things tbh)  :D
It's very overcast but dry though none too warm. I think we may end up cooking outdoors and eating in the kitchen.

I hope the weather was kind for you Caronc  :)

i took my friend up to the vet today to pay her bill and pick up the cat's ashes and went into Lidl on the way back, the theory being free parking and I refused to pay 25p a banana in T Express, it was a good idea except I ended up spending £20  :S I was led astray by the warm weather and strawberries, raspberries, cherries etc 😁 I did pick up a couple of sea bass fillets for 90p which have gone in the freezer.

I was organised last night and took out a small 500g joint of beef for tonight and some diced goat (ex dairy nanny) to make a goat curry in the slow cooker for tomorrow then my sister invited herself around tomorrow night when my nephew has friends around.  I'll need to replan dinner as she no longer eats beef so not LO beef and she doesn't like curry 🙄 The curry turned out really nice (she says modestly B) ) I must make a note of the recipe as I'll use it on the shanks, it will do for Monday dinner and I'll freeze more than I planned maybe with rice to make RMs

Lunch was a pear and blue cheese salad.  Dinner the roast beef, parsnips, cauliflower and carrots, I didn't check the weather when I took it out the freezer yesterday 🙂  I used the last of some Aunt Bs frozen parsnips which were brought on offer, they worked better in the AF than the oven 🙂

  • Well inspiration struck and I did a meal plan and a shopping list this morning. I do similar to Brambling and Farway but there wasn’t much needed using and I couldn’t think of anything I fancied 😂

Lunch was scrambled eggs and mushrooms on toasted bagel (luckily that was the end of last week’s meal plan so I could eat before I had to go shopping 😉). Chargrilled chicken, beetroot and goat’s cheese salad tonight, with some new potatoes. Made the most of the good weather before it disappears again…

Torrential rain woke me about five but it couldn't keep that up, now sunny with a breeze

Another loaf in the Panny for lunchtime sarnie of ?????

With the weather I've decided on fish tonight, I've taken a cod fillet out to defrost, it's plain boring uncoated fish so I'll probably pan fry it.
Maybe with frozen chips in AF or use the instant mash I found the other day?
Either way it's frozen veg accompaniment, and I may knock up a nuked HM sauce but that depends, I don't have any fresh parsley this year, one thing i forgot to sow, still time I guess but not for tonight :D
The freezer is playing a full CFO part today

    Good morning everyone,
Gorgeous weather here today, I wish it had been like this yesterday. It did stay dry but we opted to eat inside as it was too chilly and midgy outside. It was great evening the food was gorgeous and the wine & chat flowed. I've had a lazy morning so far but thankfully no hangover.
I plan to make the most of the good weather and enjoy the garden. There's a bit of tidying up to do and some laundry to hang out and then a shady spot and my book beckon.
I think we all meal plan pretty much the same wa. I work a combination of what needs used, what's already in, what's on special offer and what I fancy. At this time of year I also factor in how much time I want to spend in the kitchen, the down side to a combined kitchen & conservatory is that it can get very warm so I aim for meals that either can be prepped early in the day or require minimal prep at the time.
LOs for lunch and sirloin steaks with salad a Ayrshire spuds for dinner.

If you find a parsley seed which germinates that quickly please share with the group Farway 🙂 I forgot to plant any this year so I'm buying pots from SM.

It was dry here until early afternoon but heavy rain for the last two or three hours, I have baby tomatoes developing which hopefully wouldn't be knocked off

lunch was beans on toast, I haven't had that in ages 🙂

I fed my sister dinner time and we put the world to rights.  I made a couple of scotch eggs and 'fried' breaded chicken thighs in the AF, with feta cheese tabbouleh, red cabbage coleslaw and salad. My nephew sent brownies for dessert which I added raspberries to, they were so good 😋

More rain here and overnight, a very soggy world outside today but nothing urgent required so generally lazing about for the day

It's a tad too soggy to squelch down the garden for rhubarb crumble, a job for another day

Lunch, sarnie, filling unknown but I have LO tuna coleslaw so could press that into mucky "use up" service
Dinner, another unknown, if it warms up a bit another salad maybe, if not frozen pizza or pie & instant mash? Very undecided

    Good afternoon everyone,
Late on parade today, it's a gorgeous day here and I've been making hay while the sun shines! Or more accurately getting three loads of washing done and pegged out plus a good few other chores. Time for feet up for a couple of hours until the sun goes over a bit. Last of the bbq lamb in a wrap with salad and some cherries. I've salmon defrosting for later to have with Ayrshire tatties and tbc veg.
  • Oh, caronc, you’re making me envious 😂. No pegging out here - grey, wet and cold all day…

Out for breakfast today (eggs benedict but with smoked salmon, is that eggs royale?) so just some olives, houmous and bread during the afternoon to keep me going until tonight’s prawn saganaki 😋

There was also a glass of wine…1) because it needed drinking and 2) because Andy Murray is back playing at Wimbledon 🙌
