Back and MSE working again here, rain has now stopped, I was watching last night's footie and they players earned their money playing in that torrential rain, I'll gloss over the score line :(

Still dull today but despite that I have LO gammon from yesterday dinner, so it's salad regardless.
I'll make some coleslaw to go with it due to shortage of lettuce, I've only a bit left so may as well ,use it while it's edible
My neighbour tried to get me a lettuce when she was out but more empty shelves, guess it's down to the the weather
I'll have with HM AF chips, Brambling I've also found the branded oven chips are good in the AF but I've found as with a lot of things the more premium ones are better

Lunch today will be cheese & sliced raw onion sarnie

    Good morning everyone,
Glad you got the log in problem sorted Farway
I enjoy an AF oven chip but yes has to be either McCain or Aunt B though I do only buy them when they are on SO as I baulk at paying full price for a bag of spud bits  :D
I didn't watch the footie, my younger son isn't bothered with it though he was tracking the score, one of these please no one/everyone outcomes!
My son is heading to B&Q to get roof felt for the log store and then we are going to try and get the garden organised (as far as it can be just now) so it looks half decent for next weekend's family bbq. I got a bit done yesterday but got waylaid by my sis and pooch popping in, by the time they'd gone I couldn't find my oomph to continue. I think more tea is needed before I get going with it this morning.
Ham salad wrap for lunch and then burgers in buns, HM wedges, salad and HM coleslaw for dinner.
  • Not a bad day today, it did finally stop raining last night. Pleasant enough for a walk so lunch was outside at a cafe afterwards - toasted olive flatbread with mozzarella, pesto, rocket, sun dried and vine tomatoes.

Another good traybake recipe tonight - chorizo and sweet potato hash.

Rain is back this evening and the heating has clicked in 😦

Similar day weather wise to yours JKS, my heating is off but I did put a cardi on.  Your lunch is my idea of a good lunch  :)

I will admit to doing very little today 😐 i though about going to town or popping around to my sister for a cuppa and gossip but CBA .  I probably should have made the most of the break in the weather 🤔

lunch was cheese and crackers with a apple.  Dinner a tomato and vegetable sauce with pasta, a lazy throw together sauce

Dull & damp morning, not going any where though, the children are popping over at different times for Fathers' Day

My rhubarb has grown crumble sized again and looking like a midweek food option

Meals today, I have been informed the DD is bringing chippie Fish & Chips along launch time, which solves CFO for the day
How times change, way back in my day the only shop open on Sunday was the newsagent for the paper & a packet of essential Woodbines

My grandson, just turned 18, had the call for his jab, trouble is it was at a clinic on the Isle of Wight, which as they live down New Forest way could be closest as the crow seagull flies but hardly practical, seems problem is shortage of Pfizer ones around here.
No doubt soon be sorted but I suppose he now counts statistically as "offered a jab" and box duly ticked :/

    Good morning everyone,
Yikes Farway that's a bit of trek but as you say box duly ticked! Hope you enjoy being spoiled by your family.
There was quite a bit of rain overnight though it's dry but very overcast now. All the plants I potted up yesterday are looking very perky and none seem to have been munched.
My two boys and DIL-to-be are off with the boys' Dad to climb Ben Lomond. They'd asked him what he wanted to do for Father's Day thinking pub lunch or similar and this is what he came up with! They headed off early doors with their pack ups and I'm not expecting to see him until this evening no doubt shattered and starving!
We got on really well yesterday trying to get the garden into shape, just one area to sort out pots and plants for and one to clear debris as it was the dumping area while the slabbing etc. was getting done. However I won't be tackling it today as my iffy wrist and hand are really swollen and painful today despite wearing a support yesterday and I don't want it to get any worse.
My sister is joining us for dinner this evening, I've defrosted a shoulder of pork joint to slow roast and we'll have it with Jersey Royals and various veg. Lunch will be a ham & LO HM coleslaw wrap.
  • Hope you enjoyed your chippy lunch Farway, happy Father’s Day!

Brambling, it was the sort of lunch I love but can never be bothered to make myself 😂. There was also a goats cheese and caramelised onion option, nomnom…

Grey and drizzly here today so have pottered with washing, ironing and a bit of filling/painting (patch in hall needed touching up). Went for a swim and then didn’t feel guilty about sitting watching the tennis for the afternoon 😉

Lunch was poached eggs and mushrooms on toast after my swim. Easy Sunday dinner of pork chop with a fennel seed, chilli flake and oregano crust, served with new potatoes, carrots, green beans and sugar snap peas. Oh, and a 🍷. Well, it is the weekend 😀

I hope you had a good day Farway and enjoyed the fish & chips  :) I can remember the excitement in the village when the local corner shop (up the hill 😁) was brought by a Indian family and opened Sunday mornings 🙂

so will it be the goats cheese and caramelised onion next time JKS?

A grey overcast day with just a little drizzle mid morning and the threat of more all day.  I did some weeding in the back garden late morning including the jungle growing behind my back fence in the garage block.  When the weather turns I'll have to carefully put weed killer down there I'll just have to ensure it doesn't seep under the fence as my veg patch is the other side.  I had half filled my garden rubbish bin before coming in.  A needle will be required in a bit for the blackberry prickles  :( gardening people any ideas how to deal with a large ants nest in one of my compost bins, it's the one ready to use but is currently full of the damn things

Lunch was a banana and later a slice of bread puddling at the garden centre cafe with my sister, not up to my mother's standard but I don't make my own  :)  We both picked up a tray of 20 geraniums reduced to £3 for a bit of colour in the front.

Dinner was a small roast chicken dinner with roast parsnip, purple sprouting, French beans and sweetheart cabbage

A very wet & windy day so far absolutely one for hunkering down indoors
Yesterday's fish & chips came for the pub, they started doing Covid take aways last year, very nice, with very chunky skin on chips. It's a posh pub with excellent food and prices to match of course

Back to food reality today, it was just toast & marmalade for breakfast
Lunch, cheese & salady sarnie time, my neighbour came home with an Iceberg lettuce for me having spotted one, she did mention the lack of lettuce everywhere, all very odd

Dinner, I have some type of frozen MFO goulash in the freezer and I think I may nuke that for dinner, ideal weather so far

    Good morning everyone,
Glad you enjoyed your F&C Farway.
Brambling, ants don't like to be disturbed or to be soggy. If you can get a fork in about the compost and give it good mix up every few days until they disperse. It can also be a sign that your compost is too dry so water it thoroughly every day for a couple of weeks. Male urine is also meant to put them off - perhaps your nephew would oblige? ;)
It's trying to be sunny here but not quite managing it yet.
The kids had to abandon going up Ben Lomond after the midges became too fierce to tolerate! Despite them all being sprayed my younger son got horribly bitten. His arm was very sore and inflamed last night though thankfully it has settled this morning.
Ham & HM coleslaw salad wrap for lunch and LO pork, stuffing & gravy in a baguette for dinner with corn cobs and HM wedges.
