Cooking for one (Mark Three)

W8itrose delivered with a couple of subs which I declined, a bag of Lettuce instead of spinach and romaine hearts rather than Chinese leaf. I wanted to cook both and would have overdosed on lettuce if I kept them.I also had a meat delivery I've been looking at goat meat for ages and this is from a farm near where I stay in Dorset, it's billy kids a byproduct of diary and ex milking nannies (don't tell my sister who has Pygmy goats) a starter box with one substitute which they advise may happen 2 large shanks in lieu of 2 leg steaks, on the plus side it should have been almost double the money and a lot more meat on the negative side not casserole weather so they headed to the bottom of the freezer and will take up a lot of room until Autumn but they look like four portions for me
lunch was salad again, using odds and sods before shopping arrived with cheese and egg. Dinner was the second kiln roasted salmon fillet with new potatoes, asparagus and peas.
putting my shopping into my freezer I've realised I've a lot of frozen vegan them, some brought frozen and some frozen by me which I need to eat before buying much more fresh before bean season starts againLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -
Good morning everyone,
Oh goat meat Brambling how lovely, the shanks would make a fab curry.
It rained steadily overnight and although the sun is trying to break through it's still pretty showery. I've a few domestic chores to get out of the way and then hopefully the forecast is correct and it does dry up. I'd really like to at least get the area of the garden I started on yesterday finished today.
Assuming nothing changes my son returns this evening no doubt lugging a bag of laundry though in fairness he doesn't expect me to do it for him (though I probably will). Depending on when he finishes work he might detour via Glasgow to see his brother so it might be quite late before he arrives. I've taken a tub of tomato sauce and some chorizo out of the freezer to make a quick bowl of pasta if he needs fed, if not we can have it tomorrow. I discovered my carton of eggs have gone OOD and while they'll fine for a while I've a notion for a crustless quiche and have various lurking fridge bits that I can add to it. That will be lunch sorted for a couple of days.

Sunny, warm & a bit muggy, with thunder storms forecast for later, just o make sure of rain I was out early watering the pots and planting up wall baskets, where I found a peanut growing, no doubt put there for a late snack by a squirrelI've potted the peanut up & will wait and seeUpdate on the W8rose lettuce, money refunded onto card, very sorry etc.My neighbour is out this morning and has offered to get me an Iceberg if they are good 'unsI've sown some Arctic King but TBH not expecting anything given the 2012 seed dateBrambling, I've never knowingly had goat meat but just checked and the one near Fareham does sell it but OOS ATM, perhaps it'll be on my watch list for a whileMade a ciabatta in the Panny this morning and now it's cooling for lunch time sarnieSarnie will probably be sausage, two are out defrostingDinner, depending on progress of thunder storms, availability of Iceberg lettuce & CBA score it could be a salad, or if high CBA score it'll be a sarnie using fresh loafAnd now MSE has "improved the site & I can't find anythingEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0

Ooh, that looks lovely caronc, I really should try making one.Ridiculously hot, very busy day here. Lunch and dinner were therefore basically the same as it is too hot to do actual cooking and there are lots of nice bits in the fridge. So, LO vegetable tart, salad, some of the everlasting couscous, HM coleslaw in varying amounts 😎0

Yes you should JKS, a great use up for lurking "bits" that seem to the scourge of CFO. It took all of 10 minutes to put together and 30 @ 180C to bake (I turned the oven off after 25). Ten minutes out of the oven to firm up and it was good to go.0
