so will it be the goats cheese and caramelised onion next time JKS?
Really quite cold here today but did walk into town after work to run an errand. That’s about as exciting as it gets today 😂
Lunch was spinach and ricotta tortellini with peas, prosciutto and sun dried tomatoes. Made lentil, spiced roast carrot and feta salad tonight. Not very weather appropriate but was very nice and there’s some in a lunchbox ready for tomorrow.0 -
Caronc when I first got my compost bin one of my sisters told me urine was good for compost I told I would be frightened I might falloff the bin and I didn't want to be responsible for given my elderly neighbour heart failure 😁. Compost has been stirred and the lid left off for a couple of hours in the rain, I'll repeat over the next couple of week thanks.I was off work today but had to take my friend and her cat up to the vet this morning unfortunately it wasn't a good visit and the cat was PTS. My friend hasn't had a good year, she had a small stroke in March, broke her upper leg in May and now this, it's the first time in 50 years she has no cat and has decided at her age she won't get another. When we got back to hers there was a delivery from Pets @ H on the doorstep
now returned
I didn't get home until after 1.30 so grabbed cheese crackers and salad for lunch, dinner was LO chicken and veg with chipsLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -
Another cold & dull weather day here, certainly not summer solstice weather.Brambling, sad news on friend's cat but I can understand not replacing it, I felt the same way, with possibility of cat or dog outliving me and me not being able to properly care for itNothing exciting due today, may just quickly skulk around the garden, checking on the rhubarb crumble growth and the even more lace curtain like runner beans, the snails are just ravaging them no matter what I do or how many snails I pick off daily, very annoying, I don't mind sharing but it's beyond a joke now, the snails are even chomping at my rhubarbAt least I've netted the cherries so hope to have some of themLunchtime, I had tin of soup yesterday with the weather, and may well repeat todayDinner, I'm defrosting a XCFO posh turkey breast, which I may cook in the AF,with steamed broccoli, Savoy & carrots and maybe frozen Aunty B roastiesEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0

Good morning everyone,
How sad for your friend Brambling. No need to risk perching on your bin it's only male urine that's supposed to work for ants lol. (Though if you have a tall hive bin like I do. it certainly creates a vision........)
I'm pooch sitting today, after following about like a shadow at first he's now snoring happily on the sunny kitchen chair! He can "help" me in the garden once I get myself organised.
LO pork wrap for lunch (the hot pork & stuffing sandwich for dinner yesterday was gorgeous) and Thai green chicken curry for dinner.

Well the ants seem to have move house to the other compost bin 🙄 which until the weekend wasn't dry but I added shredded paper and cutting from my japonica and left them on top and that's where they and their eggs had move to when I checked lunchtime. Both bins were stirred and watered.Another day off work
it rained until lunchtime so too damp to garden but I had things needing doing in the house.
Lunch was was a couple of crumpets toasted with cheese and a handful of cherry tomatoes. Dinner was a chicken laksa using LO chicken and French beans with noodles. Tomorrow will be LOs of LOs as I can't seem to CFO 😁Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -
How did it get so late? Was going to post ages ago and then got into watching second episode of Time, very good but definitely on the gritty side…a colleague excitedly told me I could watch all 3 episodes at once on iPlayer but it’s a bit harrowing for more than an hour at a time for me 🤔
Office day today so it was the LO lentil, carrot and feta salad in a lunchbox. Sun had come out when I got home so quick 20 minute walk before salmon with pesto and green bean pasta for tea (a meal I am expert at CFO 😂)0 -
Sun's back after a few days AWOL, once it warms up I'll dabble in the garden, planting the dwarf French beans is a must do task before they get too huge, with an eye on the swelling pea pods, a possible target this weekend if only enough for a taster this year but it'll doJKS, someone told me about Time but I gave it a miss as it sounded like a worthy but gloomy series. And I'm on a one pound month offer from Now so a bit of catching up to do, Mare of Easttown duly seen before its time's up. I'm no judge of acting but Kate Winslett does a good American accent, to my ears anywayWith the sun it's salad day again and one salmon fillet out defrostingLunch, very likely use up some stale bread for grilled cheese on toastDinner, pan fry in butter the salmon fillet, with HM AF chips & saladLast night's posh turkey breast in the AF turned out very well, that's the second poultry breast I've tried in the AF and both were a success, I may add some next time I'm ordering on line at the free range farm shopEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0

Good morning everyone,
Sounds as though the ants knew you were on to them Brambling, you do have to admire their efficiency at packing up and shipping out. I don't know if there are more about this year or the garden work has disrupted their usual spots but I don't I've ever had so many in the top garden.
Yes "Time" is on my to watch list JKS, I do like a gritty drama though like you don't think I could binge watch something so harrowing.
I've not watched "Mare of Easttown" Farway but my elder son has and thought it and Kate Winslet very good.
It's raining here today but I did manage to get the last of the flower planting finished yesterday. It was a bit of slog towards the end but having seen the forecast for the next couple of days I didn't want the job hanging about for any longer . The rain has made all the plants look very perky and so far none have been munched. I think the hedgehog family that live nearby must be doing a good job of keeping the slug & snail numbers down. I've not seen them about but heard them snuffling between the fences.
Back to unexpectedly CFO until tomorrow as my son has to head off yesterday evening to carry out an urgent site visit today Lunch will be cheese & crackers with salad and dinner is tbc.

Change of lunch plan, bread had gone mouldy again so nil sarnie:Luckily I have frozen pizza half baguettes in so one of them, with extra cheese, was pressed into servicePlus I spotted one ripe strawberry, assuming the bids don't scoff it that is earmarked for tomorrowEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0

Good evening. Highly recommend both Time and Mare of Easttown, just great acting in both and a bit different.
At home today so lunch was a smorgasbord of fridge LOs 😜 - last of the prosciutto, couple of cold new potatoes, end of a tin of tuna, bit of houmous, carrot sticks, lettuce, tomato and a pitta bread. Made chicken and chorizo jambalaya tonight, LOs in a lunchbox for tomorrow 😋0
