'morning, for once we have similar weather to Caron, but the sun is just peeking through nowAt least the pooch was settled Caron & not fussing all night, I think like kids they can get anxious in unfamiliar surroundings, I know when I used to have my neighbour's dog in all she wanted was a human in the room otherwise she barked all day, hence easier & quieter life for me to just have here lolling around in here with meToday's mealsLunch, cheese & sliced raw onion sarnieDinner, another salad with this weather, last of the corned beef I think.I've moved onto McCain's frozen chips now, my fresh spuds have been used and online shopping not yet finalisedI'm out tomorrow morning, chiropodist, so may check Costcutter for spuds, cuc, toms & bananas. If no good then I'll be forced to go on line for next weekEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0

Quite a nice day weather wise here, just back from a pleasant walk.
Back in the office today so the last of the beetroot and goat’s cheese couscous for lunch. Made smoked salmon, horseradish and mangetout pasta tonight. The recipe is for watercress but I didn’t have any and the mangetout needed eating 😀, added some sliced spring onion and chopped parsley for a bit of oomph…0 -
Beautiful day here until 5pm when we had heavy rain for about 90 minutes. I had to take a 12 o'clock lunch (the joy of training overseas colleagues) so spent a very pleasant 45 minutes pottering in the front garden enjoying the sun and filling up the garden bin before tomorrow collection. I wanted to go out again after work but everything is soaked now.
12 o'clock was too early for lunch so after training I grabbed some fruit and cheese for a late lunch before telling the boss I had finished 🙂 Dinner was a vegetable and salmon risotto with French beans and broccoli. I used up mushrooms, leek, half a courgette and sugar snap peas in the risotto and stirred in diced salmon and the last of a bag of rocket for the last couple of minutes to cook in the heat of the rice, then chopped parsley and Parmesan stirred through. Very tasty 😋 and LOs for lunch tomorrow, the vegetables stretched the one salmon fillet for two meals.Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -
Good morning everyone,
Risotto sounds yummy Brambling.and while he
Yes I was pleased he was settled and happy Farway, given the trauma of his background if sleeping on my bed stops him becoming upset and anxious I'll live with that. He loved having free access to a garden and pottered about in it all day and while he was delighted when my sis came for him late afternoon he certainly wasn't fretting for her. Progress I think.
Sunny and warm here just now but heavy showers are forecast for later. Might not get to try out my new hose which arrived yesterday. It's one of the wall mounted easy pull and self retracting ones. I already have a fairly decent hose on a reel but I'm finding the manual tug and rewind increasingly hard going so fingers crossed the new one will make life a bit easier.
Tesco are due shortly and once the groceries seems like lots of staples ran out/are about to this week so it's a big order. Once it's stashed I'll be heading to the garden to enjoy the sunshine while it lasts.
Salad wrap for lunch and freezer raid for dinner, probably breaded haddock and a baked spud.0 -
Warm but a bit dull, out first thing to chiropodist, collect prescription & then into Cost Cutter, the salad items were a bit meh so just bananas, milk and some toms.I'll complete an on line order for next week delivery I think but sudden excursion offer to Winchester has arrived for next Wednesday, ex outlaws down from Oldham to Brighton & coming over for the day so taking chance to met up before yet another lock down or whatever given our ages, creaks & groansLunch was another cheese & sliced raw onion sarnieDinner, more corned beef salad while weather's good.Rain forecast due over the weekendOnly thing left to do is trundle the garden wheelie bin round to the back now it's been emptiedEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0

Good evening everyone,
I think there's a supply shortage with some veg just now Farway following recent bad weather in Spain. Or at least that's what our local Morrison's are saying and certainly I noticed that Tesco had an unusually limited selection when I finalised my order yesterday.
Forecasted rain didn't appear and the skies are clear so I got to try out my new hose. It's wonderful and I wish I'd got an auto-reel one yonks ago. (And yes I do know the novelty will wear off and I do really need to get a life but small pleasures and all that!
)
I'm unexpectedly home alone as DS2 has headed with a mate to watch the football at another mates. None of them are fans but it's a good excuse to have a catch up and a few beers. The mate that's hosting usually lives in Glasgow but is at his parents' for a few days to keep an eye on pets etc. while his folks have gone away for a few days (and they are well passed the age where an "empty" is a cause for concern lol!)
Still deciding what to have for dinner after a late lunch. For a change I mashed sardines with spicy mayo and had it a wrap with lots of lettuce and cucumber - it was blooming lovely and finally persuaded DS2 that tinned sardines aren't the food of the devil.

If an auto-reel hose is what does it for you, caronc, you enjoy it…we have to get our thrills somewhere. Personally, I was very excited to use my new mini whisk to make a salad dressing earlier 😂
Turned into a lovely afternoon and evening here, popped out for a walk before making dinner and settling down to an evening of tennis.
Lunch was a smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel with some cucumber batons. Made warm new potato, Stilton and bacon salad tonight - with the aforementioned mustard and red wine vinegar dressing 😋
There’s also 🍷 to get me through said tennis match…0 -
Lol JKS I love my mini whisk and other mini tools , I have the IKEA kids "play set" which was a very good spend as they are so useful. The bits are all fab and used lots DUKTIG multicolour, 5-piece toy kitchen utensil set - IKEA (they do say not suitable for cooking but they are in many ways lol)0

I have a small whisk like that from Lakeland, my sister and I split a pack of two several years ago 🙂 as you say ideal for salad dressing
Caronc the novelty still hasn't worn off with my new hose probably because it's rained since I brought it 🙄 and now I have envy of yours 😁
Definitely TFF todaythe three of us working including the boss logged off at the stroke of 5pm before anymore emails came in
Having rummaged and tidied one freezer lunchtime (too cold for my hands to do both as the cold really hurts them ) I decided to push back my Tuesday shopping delivery until next Saturday. I need milk, bananas and salad stuff but can make do with supplies. I can either go to T Express or weather permitting go into town tomorrow for that.Lunch was LO risotto, not quite so nice reheated but still very tasty. Dinner was a thick pork chop with corn on the cob, roasted asparagus and coleslawLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -
