My Iceland delivery arrived without problems, except the cucumber is more gherkin and the carrots have the bottoms removed, I guess they were the rotten bits, still carrots though
However to off set the Iceberg is a good 'un as is the broccoli head
Decided it is salad tonight, salmon fillet defrosting for frying in butter + EVO, I've also made some coleslaw using last of my Savoy & donkey food sized carrot

  • Yep, watched The Victim, caronc. Also caught up on last night’s Line of Duty now, already completely hooked!

Anyway back to the cooking, it’s becoming “telly for one” at the moment 😂

Scrambled eggs on toasted bagel for lunch, salmon and broccoli pesto pasta tonight.

Like the sound of your pasta dish caronc, looking forward to hearing about it.

I rewatched all of the previous series of Line of Duty when I was off  Christmas, my brain wasn't up to it last night so I vegged out with midsummer murders.  I'm stockpiling the this series of  Unforgotten to watch I enjoyed the previous ones

It's been a lovely day I popped to the garden centre lunch time to buy some compost and really didn't want to come back to work, I did finish work on time to potter in the garden for an hour after work 🙂. Tonight I updated my W8itrose order which is not Thursday as I thought but Wednesday evening.  Several texts with my sis to get her order with me going back with it's cheaper to buy 4 not 2 and the tea you like is half price etc  :)  very MSE well maybe not the W8itrose bit.  Did you see their 'posh'  fish fingers are part of their 3 for £10 offer Farway? I'm trying to eat down my freezer and have a pack of frozen so decided against the offer

lunch ended up a a crusty roll with pate, I came home lunch time via T Exp for milk 🙂 LO lentils will be tomorrow.  Dinner was bubble and squeak and cod roast pork, using LOs from yesterday.  Note to self beetroot pickle and blackcurrant jam are the same colour......  :#

Snap, just been updating my W8rose order for Sunday with having the Iceland one yesterday, spotted the posh fingers but I've still got a pack from last offer, it's salmon fillet offer this time, the larger 500g one I'll portion up, plus a couple of steaks on offer. Because of the elusive nature of their delivery dates here I find myself grabbing what I can, not very MSE, kid in sweet shop style :/

But today's food is poor man's stuff, use up the last stale crust for lunchtime toast, I may have some Marmite for it but who knows?
Marmite is one of those items, like Oxo cubes, always about until it's too late and you've run out but really need it
Dinner, my HM coleslaw was tasty, with LOs, so to take advantage it's salad again tonight, using LO corned beef + HM chips

I had a smoothie and Marmite toast for breakfast. I like Marmite Farway but it has be spread very thinly.  :)

I've made tomato, carrot and lentil soup for lunch today and for the rest of the week. I'm having a mini pizza with salad tonight.

    Good afternoon everyone,
I have Marmite (actually the Tesco equivalent which is cheaper and I prefer it to the real stuff) on toast topped with sliced tomatoes most days for breakfast. It is salt heavy but as you use so little of it I can get away with it.  :)
Cold and dreary here today, it's to become very windy as the day goes on. Typically my paper wheelie bin needs to go out today, I do hope it doesn't blow over!
I spent most of yesterday on and off making the Italian Sausage and Ricotta cannelloni dish for dinner this evening. I'm hoping it's worth the effort, though I've tasted the filling and it's gorgeous.  :)A "could do better" to the BBC for the recipe though, it's obviously been scaled inconsistently from a restaurant one. The filling element makes far more than is needed for 4 decent portions, the tomato sauce was fine quantity wise but two boxes of pasta to serve four - hardly that's 30+ tubes!  :s  There wouldn't be enough filling or sauce even if you did want to use that much pasta! I've frozen the spare filling, I reckon it will make lovely meatballs or fill around 8 cannelloni tubes (I filled 16 yesterday).
I had spare Italian sausage which needed using so a two portion ragu was made for the freezer while I was sorting out the other stuff. I think a bit of freezer tetris will be needed to wedge it in!

Snap on the large salmon fillet Farway 🙂 I was dithering with buying two at that price but that isn't following my eat the freezer down plan 🙄

I wouldn't gloat at my freezer space Caronc as I know the contents multiply when the doors are closed.

I put marmite on toast when I have fried egg on toast, although TBH I only have about one jar a year. When my nephews where small their first Mother's Day breakfast in bed was 2 cold croissants (they knew they weren't allowed to put the oven on) black with thick marmite and a glass of milk. My sister was watched as she forced it down whilst my BIL lay next to her shaking with suppressed laughter 🤢 :#

lunch was pate on toast with salad. Dinner was the LO lentils with the last of the cold pork

  • Lol at your nephews, Brambling...it’s the thought that counts 😜

Must remember to put marmite on my toast next time I do poached eggs.

Been into the office today so am exhausted, was glad tonight was a reheat of the lamb shoulder and boulangere potatoes. Lunch was tuna pasta pesto salad - in a lunch box, like old times 😂

Another CFO now adding Marmite to the eggs on toast :#
BTW I found a brand new jar when I looked yesterday, I must've been on Auto Replenish at some time in the past

Very dull out so probably not salad today
I have a ciabatta in the Panny, which should be fine for lunchtime sarnie of cheese & sliced fresh onion.
Actually Marmite with cheese would go well but spreading Marmite on warm fresh bread is just not feasible
Dinner, could just degenerate into pizza from the freezer now I've restocked from Iceland & CBA to think of anything else

However I have ordered my free Hello Fresh trial pack, nothing too hard as faffing about in kitchen is not for me but willing to try for free :D
