I didn't sleep well last night and when I did I had those dreams where you wake up and then go back into the same dream which was slightly weird from what I remember 😐 his lordship was a PITA and woke me a hour earlier than I needed to be up 🙄so today I've been a bit bleary eyed and brain

Food was really Cba thanks to LOs a mug of soup for lunch with a slice of cheese on toast.  Dinner LO turkey with red cabbage (I'll send you some Farway there are more LOs) and mash potatoes

Drizzle this morning but I'm in anyway, waiting for my compost delivery.
Decided this year to get it delivered rather than risk prowling round Covid infested aisles looking for some, and TBH the delivery cost, from Wickes, is under £8 so affordable & it saves me struggling trying to fit them in my tiny car

The rolled turkey joint is still lurking, but today may see the last of it, despite lack of red cabbage
Lunch is likely to be a warmed through Smart price C & O pasty from last weeks delivery
Dinner, LO turkey + ?????, more roast or salad ???
May depend on how my back & I feel after lugging compost :)

    Good morning everyone,
Ah well my boiler is terminal, not quite in it's death throes and with a bit of tlc should be fine for a number of months but it will need replacing before next winter.  :( However, I'm just off the phone to the Energy Trust and I may well qualify to have a new one installed via a Scottish Government funded scheme.  :)
I only managed one pancake yesterday as the pea and ham soup was very filling though the rest of the batch didn't get wasted lol. Quite where my son put them all I'm unsure but he was a very happy bunny!
More of the soup for lunch and tonight I'm trying JO's gingery, garlicky minced beef from the 7 ways book.

Been shielding for over a year now and not likely to stick my head above the parapets till the summer - whatever the official line is. But so looking forward to picking my own shopping in person. I'm grateful for supermarket deliveries but they have their downsides. Anyway I'm re-discovering ground rice as a pudding - a staple of my childhood. Quick and economical for one person. Maybe I can team it up with Nutella  - I accidentally ordered a humungous 1kg jar in the last delivery.... :D

Not good news re the boiler Caronc  :| hopefully you can nurse it until you hopefully hear good news from the SG

Pineapple I know what you mean re shopping in person, I've been able to do mine in SM although I've stuck to the small ones or the farm shop. For me the problem with deliveries especially as a CFO is the BB date of fresh food. 1kg of Nutella that needs a large spoon and something good on tv 😁

The last two red cabbage portions were popped into the freezer today, I think I have a small beef joint in the freezer (?) so it will go nice with that when I fish it out.

Lunch was the last of the turkey which was more than I thought with a watercress salad.  Dinner was omelette and AF chips

Shame about the boiler Caronc, fingers crossed for you
Another one here looking forward to returning to normal mooching but I'm not rushing back, I'll stick with little Co-op & Costcutter for run out of milk etc, although TBH I've mainly found on line grocery reasonable with a few glitches, but I'm fortunate that my expectations are fairly low so I'm easily pleased, plus not on a tight budget
The only thing I do kind of miss are the YS finds, but even then now my local W8rose has closed there may be fewer options

My compost arrived without hitches, all set for spring & summer now
Meals are going to be CBA today, made a start with marmalade on stale crust toast for breakfast
    Lunch, could be same
Dinner, the very last slices of LO rolled turkey, it has done well, maybe with AF HM chips & some of the excess mushroom order

    Good morning everyone,
I haven't mooched round the SM for several years so that way nothing has changed for me but I am looking forward to when I can pop to the library and have wander in town . It's hard to believe that it's now over a year since I was properly CFO, this time last year my sis and nephew had been here for a couple of weeks and they moved out just as my younger son moved back when the first lock down hit at the end of March. No doubt in a few months I'll need to adjust to the "empty nest" all over again!
Cold, wet and windy here today. I oiled the kitchen island work top yesterday so have been busy buffing it to a lovely sheen this morning, a most satisfying job I thoroughly enjoy (in small doses lol).
The JO gingery, garlicky minced beef was very good, I only used one chilli rather than the two specified and replaced some of the mince with chopped mushrooms. I'd definitely make it again.
Last of the pea and ham soup for lunch today and an easy dinner tonight of scampi, HM wedges, peas and salad.
  • Good evening everyone. Definite spring feeling in the air here, it was still (just) light at 5.25 🤗

Rare sandwich for lunch today - a combination of a busy day and the temptation of a fresh loaf in the grocery delivery 😉. Had to be inventive with the 5 a day though, some olives and red pepper crudités scraped me through. Salmon with pesto and green bean pasta tonight.

Will treat myself to a couple of squares of good quality chocolate with my evening cuppa 😋

So is the garlicky beef worth buying the black bean sauce for Caronc? My sister may think I have everything in my store cupboard but I don't have that 😁 you'll miss your son when he goes home Caronc he's not tempted to move back like his brother

I split a Asda delivery with my sister, I haven't had them for nearly 10 years after they tried to take the money out 5 times and froze my credit card 🙄 I don't find their site the most user friendly but that is probably because I'm not use to it.  One substitute which I have gained a bigger chicken crown this one with small sausages and stuffing balls included which I might freeze until I can share and my chicken thigh pack was badly damaged and the chicken exposed so I've asked for a refund.  I've a couple of thighs in the freezer so not a problem.  I just need to find my menu plan to remind myself what I intended to cook this week

I brought cress at the farm shop as I fancied egg and cress and it's been sitting on the window sill all week, so lunch was egg Mayo and cress salad and feeling repro I followed it with a Florida cocktail 😁 well orange and grapefruit segments it was minus the half glacé cheery on top 🙂 I used a blood oranges lovely and sweet although I was surprised that it was almost black in colour as it was so dark a red

I found a piece of frying steak in the freezer which I had with some stir fry veg, a Chinese style sauce and  rice, the steak may have been in the freezer a little too longer 🤔

The LO turkey has gone at last, finished it off last night. Now I can start on another lurker from the freezer, but not just yet :)
Lovely sunrise this morning, and I saw that we are due a load of Saharan sand this weekend, which should perk up sunrises / sets for a few days, and cover cars in red dust, at least it's not Baltic snow

I think I need a decent salad, perhaps time to get a salmon fillet out to defrost and use some of the "baby" potatoes?
Lunch probably grilled cheese on toast with piccalilli
