Sorry to hear about your Uncle Brambling, your poor aunt. Are you fairly near by or miles away?

They are part of the Dorset family Farway, unfortunately my aunt is so deaf even before her hearing aid cracked so I haven't been able to talk to her on the phone but I did touch base with my cousin yesterday, he is very close in age to me so we grew up together.  I'm not sure what will happen with the funeral especially if PN thinks there could be a threats of lockdowns in Dorset, if there is enough local people who want to go I might not go down for it, it will be hard as my aunt as a hugger  :)  She's of sound mind but her body is failing not helped by caring for my uncle whose dementia wouldn't allow any help for her in the house.  I'm hoping my cousin will be able to find her a cleaner but I'm not sure how easy that will be in current times and even without CV19 she was determined they were going to stay in their home.  Without sounding too maudlin the feeling in the family has been for a while that if he went first she wouldn't be far behind

Sorry to hear more bad news in Oldham Farway hopefully your BIL will stay out of hospital

Another awful day weather wise and I've succumbed and put the heating on last night, I wanted to wait until November but not worth being cold, I didn't need to put it on during the day today which is good  :)

Lunch was a sausage sandwich, I found some 'good' sausages I brought in the farm shop in the freezer  :)  dinner will be the last of the LO gammon risotto, there was more than I though when I had it for dinner last night, those little gammons from M&S are certainly good value for money, it cost me £4.50 and that wasn't YS  :D and i've seemed to have eaten it all week.  I will need to add a few additional veggies to stretch the last of the risotto, I have french beans and there are always peas or frozen broad beans.

Whilst rummaging in the freezer I found a HM ready meal which will do for tomorrow, not sure if it's cottage pie as I never labelled the container but if not i froze with what looks to be a root veg mash, beans and braised red cabbage. (from what i can tell from the frozen lump it currently is  :#)

    Good evening everyone,
Sorry to hear about your Uncle Brambling, I hope some home support can be sorted out for your Aunt .
Hope your BIL isn't too badly affected Farway
Bother re the phone PN, I take you don't have a branch of the bank nearby? It should be fairly straightforward to set up digital banking but of course it might need a phoned code to let you unless you have a card reader.   🙄 It's probably possible to access texts from a broken phone through a laptop though I've no idea how you would go about it!
It's been another completely manky day here but tomorrow is supposed to be better
:)  before more stormy weather hits on Saturday. My younger son is off to Harrogate tomorrow, I've been promised some goodies from Betty's  :D
Unfortunately my elder son and DIL-to-be weren't successful with their offer and were out bid by quite a bit. They have another batch of flats to view on Saturday.
Meal plan for tonight has been disrupted, I had planned to have a spicy courgette, tomato and halloumi bake from the freezer  only to discover I  must have ate it the last time my son was away! Never mind bangers and a couple of lurking slices of white pudding have been defrosted to have with  fried spuds, mushrooms and and some grilled home grown tomatoes.  Lunch was HM spicy lentil & sweet potato soup from the freezer and toast. There's another portion still in the freezer and then my soup stash is depleted. I must get a few batches of soup made over coming weeks and get it replenished. It's not the time of year or weather to be soupless lol  :D

Phone's fixed, I left it and left it and left it ... then feared trying ... and left it ... all night, "just in case".
Fully charged yesterday evening (did have a peek).... all works fine now, for now.  It must be the charging cable that was duff, but no idea why it then still continued to be a faff... have to see how it goes.

"Can't you do online/PC banking?" - that's how this started. To log into online banking (CoOp) they send a code to your phone to confirm it's you.... and that's where I first came unstuck.   In the end, I had to receive a code to log on + I had to receive another code when I tried to transfer the rent money over, so the phone receives two codes.  All done now.

More to the point, I didn't know how much money I actually had in my current account ... and feared looking at a cashpoint in case I were unexpectedly overdrawn and then had the anxiety of that on top of not being able to access my account.  I actually still have £1k in my current account, having logged on :)  ... but you know how fear of the unknown gets you.

My rent backup plan was: Go to the cashpoint 2-3 days in a row, get out the max in cash .... but I also feared not having the money in there.  Online I start by seeing how much is in the current account, then throwing a pile from the savings account into the current account.  It's not that I wouldn't have the money, it'd just be a case of specific account access... and, without a phone, I couldn't do phone banking either (don't fancy doing that from a public callbox).

To date I've not met a single person who has/had Covid .... which is a bold statement, but that's accompanied with the statement: to date I've not met a single person :)
If it comes into this house it won't be me bringing it.

Yesterday I ate a lot.  I often eat a lot of snacks and don't declare them. Yesterday I ate a lot of meals.
    Breakfast: 2x toast.
    Late Lunch: Lasagne
DIdn't Need It Really Tea: Big pile of chips + 2 fishcakes.
I also had 80g of chocolate and a pack of Doritos.

Another dull & damp day here
Glad the 'phones OK PN, do you have a spare just in case? Maybe now would be the time to find a cheapo emergency one?
Very awkward with funeral Brambling, numbers are limited any way.
Dorset never went into tier 2 for some reason, but I suspect it's on the cards all along the coast,
The whole county of Hampshire will go into Tier 2 if we go, easier to manage from Council / Police POV is seems, and I suppose it makes sense given local boundaries

Meals today are simple CBA ones
Lunch to be a PB baguette, think with a cheese & salady filling
Dinner, MFO RM veggie lasagne. I'll add extra cheese topping before baking it in oven.

I'm trying to get a Dr's appointment, hard going, seems a "triage system" is in operation.
I've passed Stage One, the Dragon Gatekeeper, now awaiting phone call Stage Two

I don't really understand phones, to be honest.... so would be completely at a loss about how to buy a replacement.
I do own this one, with a SIM only £10/month from Tesco.  I've got a phone number and (miraculously) did manage to move it over to this phone 2-3 years ago (although was petrified trying).  I don't understand the language around buying phones, or swapping them, etc.

Horrible here. Drizzling rain, blustery, just damp, damp, damp.

    Good evening everyone,
I'm afraid I rely on my kids when it comes to phones PN, my current one (a gift) is too clever by far as far as I'm concerned  so can offer no advice. However, I do know that giff gaff sell refurbished unlocked phones which if you wanted something cheap as a spare could be worth a look.
I was actually dry here today! Once Tesco had been I made the most of it in the garden and my brown bin is pretty much full now. I had hoped to get my begonias etc. moved to the greenhouse but by the time I got to that point I had run out of bendiness! The remaining tom plants in the conservatory have been composted. The toms from them have been added to the trays where they should ripen nicely. There's a lot more of the green ones picked from the greenhouse plants now ripe so I'll get them processed and frozen over the weekend.
Younger son has been to Betty's and is bringing Fat Rascals, parkin and curd tarts up the road with him tomorrow yum :yum:
Lunch was a BLT and tonight I'm having a "posh" fish finger sarnie with tartare sauce, mushy peas and oven chips.

I'm another one replying on the young'ums to sort any phone problems for me 🙂 when I got this phone my nephew was working in a phone shop so 4 or so years later I've still got the family and friends rates until I change it so I'm nursing a dodgy battery as long as I can 😁 a lot of the guys (usually young) are very patient in phone shops

Farway if Hampshire goes to tier 2 I fear we won't be far behind as there is talk of Brighton going the same way (2 universities in the city) and they're in the next county, we're also only 40 mins by train to London 😐 oh well what will be will be.  I'm sure work will continue to keep us busy if we lock down again.  My colleague in Holland emailed today to confirm that he's tested positive, he's been saying he feels as sick as a dog and off sick since Tuesday.

Another grey damp day and the weekend isn't looking any brighter 😐 I need to sort out my mini greenhouse as I only stood it upright and threw stuff in anyhow when it fell over at the weekend and it needs putting straight and weigh down until Spring

lunch was a UFO HM RM from the freezer and turned out to be cottage pie with root veg mash, braised red cabbage, tenderstem broccoli and French beans (more veg than pie 😁). I cba to cook a proper dinner and it wasn't require so I crumbed some turkey strips in spiced breadcrumbs and cooked in the AF and popped them in a pita with lettuce.  Since then I have eaten the vanilla ice cream left in the freezer from Saturday I do like a good vanilla ice cream and it was on offer 😁
