It's chucking it down here, with gusty wind to boot. looking at the radar I assume you have same PN, and on it's way to BramblingThe AF ideas PN, I look on it as a small electric fan oven but for speed heating up it is probably no quicker than my gas oven, cooking from scratch could well be different of courseThe only snag I can see with some items in the AF is things like a FB pie, removing it from the basket could be a PIA with burnt fingers trying to get a gripI just tip stuff out by upending the basket, which is fine for chips & loose stuff etc but something in a pot / container holding juice or gravy maybe more awkward with very little space between the pot and the basket sidesMaybe do something like the steamed puds idea, make a string / tin foil handle to lift stuff out? There used to be a misshapes stall on our street market but that vanished, sold stuff like ends of cake bars, broken pizzas etc, and there is / was pre CV bent Cadbury choc outlet in the factory outlet place near here, but nothing like real cheap clearance stuffI did a quick search but think my skills are lacking, kept getting hampers instead of Hampshire. Darned algorithmsLunch, bit unsure, but with the AF post I think I'll try some sausage rolls in the AF just to see how they go.I judge by smell & eye but know should take about 10- 15 minutes max in the gas oven, they only need heating through, not cookingI'll have those with a brown sauce dipDinner, another unsure, but erring towards sausages, eggs, HM AF chips & some beansThe MFO RM are available but I've had two in succession so time I had a changeEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0

Good morning everyone,
I think you'd be surprised PN how many places buy in things like sauces etc. even if they add to them. Factor in all the school and work place canteen closures and there will be a lot of already packaged catering supplies made pre-COVID that are needing off loaded as OOD or heading towards it. There are few local suppliers in my area now selling catering sized stuff directly to the public that usually supply the hospitality industry.
I'm CFO again (well until next weekend) as my son has headed off for a week of site visits. The weather forecast looks rubbish so it will be a good opportunity to get up to date and hopefully ahead with my voluntary admin. I've done a loose meal plan that will hopefully use up some lurking bits and bobs and aim to make a couple of things my son is less keen on. Tonight though it's my favourite CFO go to of chicken and roast veg. Lunch will be a bacon and mushroom butty.

I'm having a marathon cookathon as my kitchen is half build, and the fitters are back on Monday to do the worktops (we have no clue when the sink and taps will turn up, and I haven't yet chosen the cooker hood so the splashback also has to wait). I have masses of veg due to not being able to cook very easily last week, and forgetting to amend my SM order (I did it, just didn't check out). So I've steamed a cauli & a green cauli to turn into a gratin using creme fraiche; steamed some fennel and roasted some peppers; made a batch of coleslaw with white cabbage, purple carrots, spring onions and parsley (will dress as I use it); am roasting BNS, aubergine, peppers, toms, garlic and halloumi; making baba ganoush from two more aubergines; and chucking all the green bits into a pan to make soup. Once it's done, I'll do a meal plan!
Lunch will be watercress (need to wash it), coleslaw, pate, guacamole and roasted padron peppers. I'll also chuck another load of laundry in as that's something else I can't do with the fitters here!
I've also got 3 packs of lamb mince, one of beef mince, and some chicken livers to deal with. If I haven't cooked with them by the end of today I'll need to freeze them until the kitchen fitters are done.2 -
Probably in short supply, but Mr T appear to be clearing out this product.

AF trial of reheating sausage rolls from chilled was a success.I thought about ten minutes would do it, but smell of hot sausage roll wafting after about five minutes, a finger prod found them hot to touch, tipped onto my plate & just right temperature, hot enough to eat but not burn your mouthQuicker than my gas oven, may try AF next time for the frozen Gregg's C & O pastyEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens2

Good evening everyone,
Mushroom, spinach & filo sound my kind of thing CG yum
Yes I've found the AF really good (and quick) for reheating things like sausage rolls Farway and whereas I'm loathe to pop the big oven on for a small item I'm happy to use the AF, though I'm not sure it's ideal for my waistline!!
It's been a gloomy & cold day, it never really brightened up and with the clocks changing it was nearly dark well before the official sunset time - welcome to winter!. Apart from a bin run to pop out the food caddy for emptying tomorrow and a quick pick up some rubbish that blown into the garden I've not been out.
My son arrived back at his wee house okay and apart from it being cold all was okay, it's a tiny space so wouldn't take long to warm up once the CH was switched on. When he comes back up he'll set it so it comes on if the temperatures dip so there's no risk of frozen pipes.
I've taken some braising steak out to defrost for tomorrow to casserole.3 -
Evening all 🙂
as much as as I love my sister it's nice to have my house back 😁 and his lordship being a antisocial cat is happier as well 🙄
Farway the bad weather started early evening yesterday when it blew my mini greenhouse over blocking the back door 😳 and my BIL had a bad journey up from the New Forest this morning. I think we are in for a wet week
Being a independent Brambling I picked up and sorted my greenhouse myself last night and seem to have tweaked my neck so today in feeling a little sorry for myselfI was told it was my own fault for not excepting help from my nephew, it was probably not helped by me attempting to clear the moss from my flat roof this morning, I was taking advantage of someone else in the house to scrape me up should I fall off the ladder 😁.
Lunch was some brie and crackers, I was invited friends this afternoon and had tea and cake so dinner was LO chicken with salad, not exactly salad weather but it needs using up

Brambling, reminds me to remove cover from my mini greenhouse, it's a sheltered position but not immuneLast winter my grapefruit blew over and I was unable to get the back door open, had to go out front and round the back to sort it.It's in same place and a bit larger now so could happen again I suppose. That's a hard Southern winter, blocked in by a grapefruit bush

The Morries "best" bangers are as nice as the 4sda ones, nice to know I have a suitable alternativeI'm still looking at the Approved Foods site, not a lot for me, did find OOD chutney which will be fine, and dishwasher tabs but will persevereA problem I've found is my basket empties over night which is PIA, it's not supposed to once signed inToday's lunch is two more AF sausage rolls + brown sauceDinner, use up, I've stale bread, plus tin of H's spaghetti on offer [50p], looking like tinned spag on toast but I may pop a couple of the bangers alongside once I get going
