Cooler at last, slight bit of rain, enough to wash the dust off I guess.
I finished up with MFO pinged Sweet & Sour chick + rice last night, it was fine, quick, easy & most importantly, no hot stoves involved

I think my blackberries are over now caron, a few stragglers around but mank & mould is rapidly getting them
Luckily plums & figs are now ripening to take their place

Lost a couple of pounds at this mornng's weigh in, I think it melted away :D

Lunch, I think grilled cheese on toast, with piccalilli topping
Dinner, now it's cooled down the tomato & runner bean pasta option probably, I could use my new box grater & top with grated Cheddar if I think of it at the time

Now MOT is over time to spend more & set up TV Licence DD later :s
Caron, "Duty Frees" from England , sign of the times we live in but good idea to take the opportunity

There were major events where my last/sold house was located.... shops with roofs leaking then falling in, floods, electrics hanging from ceilings/sparking as the stores evacuated shoppers who discarded their shopping.  Quite the major localised event!  Videos of cars driving past houses with water up to house/business fronts 10" deep.

My ex house was just 100 yards from one photo of the fire brigade at a well known burger chain.... and I wondered how it'd fared.  Its topography was certainly enough for it to have the potential to be 1' under water for 1-2 hours during what was an exceptional event, but I guess I'll never know.  Its topography was peculiar, that involved a 2' drop below regular road level, with the entrance drive providing a slope that had the potential to become a floodwater funnel if it ever reached that bit.

It'll probably have been all right though.

There's never an overall map of localised flooding provided - it's hit and miss if somebody took a photo/video of any particular road.

Yesterday, the usual assortment of food, can't remember what... but there were sandwiches choc ices and bananas involved and a couple of flatbreads.  Oh and doritos of course.
    :)

Last two crumpets of the pack for breakfast this morning, topped with a splodge of marg.

Watering still required, that's how much rain we never had :(
While doing it spotted some windfall apples, the weather must've dislodged them.
A quick check found some ripe & ready for picking, so I did
Had to then recce the blackberries, there are some still OK

And it just so happens part of my Asd@ delivery was a bag of flour
Blackberry & apple crumble over the weekend then :)

    Good afternoon everyone,
It's another lovely day here. About an hour ago my nephew suggested we have a bbq tonight. As I'm the only one with a bbq by default it's here lol! But I'm not complaining as it's lovely weather for it. We are sticking to veggie/pesce as his gf doesn't eat meet and I'm providing prawns, octopus and HM veggie burgers. They're bringing salmon, sides and veg skewers so we'll be well fed. It will be good to have a wee get together before my son heads off tomorrow and I return to CFO for a week. 😊

Looks like the weather has reversed between us Caronc, not raining here although it did look like it rain lightly overnight but the temperature as definitely dropped to about 21 and cloudy - I am enjoying the cooler weather :)

PN it may be just as well you have moved, even if your old house isn't flooded the area would still flag as a flood risk now and you may have had problems selling it.

Caronc the cake smelt of curry when I opened the tin thererfore some of the strange taste could be in the mind but there was definitely a slight spicy heat generated when eating  :|  so cake we be binned   :'(

The advantage of a busy week is it seems to fly  :)  and it's the weekend again.  I have a eye test booked for tomorrow morning deferred from March, after a big vet bill and a couple of new appliances I'm hoping I'm don't need new ones as my lenses mean I can't buy cheap online ones :|  i do have a yearly test due to a close family history of glaucoma but at least the test is free.

Lunch was cheese, crackers and an apple. Dinner is still undecided but I have also picked some peas (planted late) and i may make a asparagus and pea risotto to make the most of the cooler weather I also have some runner beans to use

When I bought it I noticed the end of the road would flood to the middle of the road, one of those 20' wide big puddles you get on some roads when there's a downpour, but the house itself was outside of a risk zone.  I did notice that whenever there's a huge storm there was always a problem; nearly every time something would get hit by lightning, it must be on some guaranteed lightning strike routes.  What happened yesterday was the failure of many shop roofs, modern pre-fabricated food shops and a small/new retail park.

I am glad I didn't have to sit there while it was hammering down.  That house always petrified me in any downpour or storm "in case".  The car park drainage was good; I'd studied the lie of the land and all tarmac was sloping away from my house, into a central storm drain; yesterday's exceptional storm had the potential to overwhelm storm drains.

House selling/buying-wise I doubt anything has changed to make it harder to sell.  Yesterdays apocalyptic storm was one of those "one offs" that "took everybody by surprise".

    Today's been:
    2 crumpets
3 sausage rolls (end of the Tesc0 pack of 8/99p)
    2 paste/cucumber sandwiches.

I was toying with the idea of having a tomato/egg sandwich, but it was a case of "if I take this egg and walk it down 30 stairs and through 3 fire doors... will somebody be there already and I'll have to come back up here and wait to try again later".... -v- .... just opening a pot of paste that's in the room here and slicing some cucumber that I keep in my room :)

Unfortunately insurance companies don't always see it that way which can put off buyers

Cooler & cloudy day here. plus my "Ooomph" has weakened so a more than usual lazy day ahead. I Spy binge watching later in the day :)
Having "saved" money on the MOT I've just splurged it on a Y Chromosome DNA test, which is male line only
Not expecting wonders but I'm stuck in 1840s London. I had usual DNA previously which mostly confirmed what I already knew, so hoping the male only line may resolve something, even if it confirms it's a help

Lunch will be LO cold runner bean pasta, it's not the best I've made but does the job
Dinner, with lack of ooomph I think a salad, cheesy baked spud + couple of boiled eggs

The B & A crumble awaits me picking the Bs, I must do it because rain is forecast and the berries wouldn't need much to turn them manky right now
