At one interview I got asked "what is your management style?".

How peculiar.... it wasn't a management position and I'd never heard of any "management style", nor knew what would be correct answers to randomly pick from/make it up.

I don't manage people.... I 'manage' systems and processes.  Not people.

It's a civil service interview based on specific "behaviours" and how you demonstrate so thankfully no random "where do you see yourself in x?" questions. Lots of "tell me about a time when...?" instead!

I had question like that, "biggest success" sort of thing

I hate "tell me about a time".... I've no idea.  I can't think.  I've usually not recognised if I did.

Biggest success?  That smacks of them wanting a braggard, a narcissist, somebody who loves the sound of their own trumpet.  I've better things to do than rate my own "successes".... and, if you're doing your job, is anything a "success" as you were supposed to achieve the outcome as that was your job.

These questions put my brain in a confused spin.

I've had no biggest successes .... where do you start?  What would they expect? What is an answer, when isn't something an answer?  It's anti-ASD questioning.

What is it with some people in a shared house?  One kitchen, tricky at the best of times, but with covid it's really only "one at a time, with others darting in/out to grab something from the fridge, or quickly shove a bit of shopping away"... there are some people that get out 20 ingredients and all the gear and then spend 1.5 hours chopping and frying and mixing and blending and having mess everywhere, dishes/pans/knives/forks, pools of water and/or oil....  that length of time is unsustainable because until you've finished, washed up, dried up, put everything away, wiped it all down .... nobody else can spread out their beans on toast and get started.

I managed a "quick nip in" as I only take 3 minutes :)  although the quick nip in was 40 minutes after my first attempt/retreat.  A quick eggs on toast.

    Good evening everyone,
If only they were "biggest success" questions Farway , nothing as open-ended as that unfortunately.
PN - believe me the level of pre-interview prep is horrendous so that folk have work scenarios to fit the various "behaviours" in mind when they go.  There's a framework to follow for candidates so actually much more ASD friendly than it might sound.
My son is not long away having been suitably grilled and still talking to me,  even though the some of the questions I asked identified areas where he needs to do a bit more prep. It's for a senior position so they do get put through their paces!
There's been a few heavy showers and the odd, distant rumble but it's dry now and a pleasant evening temperature wise. A huge pan of mash has been made at least 8 decent portions, I will have some tonight and probably tomorrow then freeze the rest. The basil has had a haircut and four tubs of pesto are now in the freezer. I had a spare tsp mixed with some mayo on my lunchtime sarnie and it's blooming lovely
Rump steak with mushrooms cooked in HM parsley & garlic butter, green beans and mash for dinner.

I've said it before Caronc when you helped you're nephew you should sell your services  :) I'm sure a web site could be created for a wee wobbly woman  ;)

The job description for my current job had a 'must have used a certain application to write reports' which I hadn't and the recruiter who sent me the details said don't worry about it, he called me the morning of the interview to check I was all prepared and said don't mention it unless they do  :| and you can guess the first question of the interview 🙄 She even pointed to a line on my CV listing my 'experience' which I hadn't added, the recruiter had without telling me :|  I flustered a bit as I had seen the system but never used it and was really caught on the hop. I got the job although I was offered a lower salary because of it and everything else fit the bill. Approximately a year later I was talking to the two who interviewed me and told them what he had did 😡

lunch was gammon and cheese salad with loads loads of homegrown tomatoes. I didn't eat the mussels yesterday as I remembered I had made cauliflower cheese and didn't fancy them tonight so really cba dinner as I was t that hungry I had a bowl of vanilla ice cream (now I have room in a freezer for ice cream :*  with raspberries and I'm about to have a bowl of fresh pineapple and melon
