Watering the volunteer border this morning, dry as a boneLunch was an Iceland frozen Gregg's C & O pasty, OK but nothing exciting about itDinner, really too hot, should be own beans & tom pasta of some sort but maybe another stab & ping MFO?Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens2

Gnocchi, venison meatballs, tom sauce, mushrooms and mozzarella. The first three were all from the freezer so a nice easy meal.
It's very hot and sultry here again so I wouldn't be surprised if it thundered again tonight, might drown out the sound of the gas board digging up the road outside! Beans are definitely on their way, I'm keeping my fingers crossed there will be some ready for picking soon! The courgette plants are still looking "wabbit", I'm not convinced they'll perk up but I picked a couple of cherry toms earlier, needless to say they didn't make it out of the greenhouse .

It's too darn hot
🥵 especially when the PITA I live with has decided he wants to be a furry hot water bottle tonight 🙀.
Hope the donkey stays locked up tonight Caronc
My tomatoes plants are producing enough to make it indoors now although I think they have blighti think my courgettes are nearly over
they have been very generous, my runners have given me enough for a portion most nights plus a large amount added to the freezer
Lunch was a cottage cheese and smoke salmon salad and dinner was a fake magnum ice cream and a bowl of cereal, by the time I finished work at 6.30 I was too hot and cba to think about proper foodLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin1 -

PN I have family who worked on the Lulworth Castle estate about 250 years ago...
He's just a local chap keeping odd local notes and the occasional world news items, or an exceptional weather event.... but there's a lot in there about the comings/goings of his neighbours. Who moved into which cottage, who left, who's died, who went to America.

I've done "early doors Tesco" for choc ices in the main as I'd run out.
I didn't buy "much" and I'd have bought differently if I'd had my own kitchen/fridge/freezer as everything bought has to be considered against "how are you going to use/cook it, when" + "and what if others are in the way, making a mess, etc, after you've loaded up and taken what you need down 30 steps and through 3 fire doors"
In the main I try to eat food prepared in my room. Cucumbers, tomatoes, jam and paste keep in the room - as do bread and flatbreads. These minimise the need to go to the actual kitchen. I mostly eat from small melamine sideplates, which are unbreakable and easily washed in the tiny en-suite sink. So I've got food sorted most of the time... but there are some things I do have to keep in the fridge, e.g. margarine, sausage rolls and cheese.
This morning's haul was a food overload really: Choc ices. Bread, cucumber, plum tomatoes, bananas, eggs, cheese, doritos, 1 can of baked beans, a pack of penne pasta and a liquid hand soap. Oh and a bag of fruit jellies (sweeties).
The Tesco isn't a mega Tesco, it's just a "large" one, so not a Metro.... but I was disappointed with their burger offerings. They appeared to have just two choices, both beefburgers. There were small burgers and quarter pounder burgers. L1dl/4ldi and 1celand have better ranges.... so I didn't pick up a pack of burgers. The pasta I bought wasn't planned, there was a big tub of bags of pasta "reduced, 37p", so I thought I'd get that to knock up some mac cheese style of food. I've already got a pack of spaghetti I've been lugging about too, so I've now got pasta overload.
I've still got at least 3 baked spuds, flatbreads, 4 crumpets, 3 sausage rolls, 2 sausage patties from previous outings.

Another hotty ahead today, it was 78F indoors at 0730 this morning.I was up early because it's MOT day and the car was being picked up at 0830.Now in the garage & I await the dreaded failed phone call, trouble is with older cars just not knowing what is hidden underneath the car, there was a time I would crawl under cars and have a look before MOT, no chance nowToday is also @sda delivery day, due after 1.30, text has arrived with only two items not available, posh bangers & posh cheese. I'll survive without them, but I do like the cheeseBecause of early start I've also set the Panny up, one proper loaf on it's way in time for lunchLunch will be cheese & onion sarnie made with fresh warm breadDinner, to hot again to bother with past pot. I've three RM MFOs on the way from @sda so maybe ping something again?Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens1

My jab is a bit sore. I felt really tired yesterday and today. I'm not sure if it is the jab or the antibiotics. It could be this horrible heat instead. There is meant to be thunder here this afternoon.
I had a toasted bagel when I finally dragged myself out of bed.1 -
Good afternoon everyone,
Hope the post-jab soreness wears off soon Wednesday.
Apart from a few taps "wonky donkey" seems have retreated, wouldn't say my oomph is fully back but may well be the heat as it's pretty warm here today. I did a few bits in the garden before it got too hot but will wait now until the sun goes over a bit before venturing back out. If he can get finished work at a decent time my son is going fishing for a few hours but I'm not holding my breath for any mackerel and will roast some chicken thighs to make a chicken, bacon and avocado salad for dinner tonight. Lunch was egg, tomato and spicy mayo on oatcakes with grapes and cucumber sticks on the side.2 -
MOT passed OK, nothing untoward, roll bar linkage slight play but leave until serviceNew charges, PPE. £2.50. That didn't take long to get tacked on bills did it? At least I suppose it's warranted.Where I volunteer the price of disposable gloves from wholesaler has gone from about a fiver a box to £25, profiteering from a scarcity I assumeJust one up on my previous garage where it was always "Top up windscreen fluid level" despite me ensuring it was brimming over before I took it in
.
One reason I no longer use themThe @sda delivery arrived, I'm going to reclaim cost of lettuce [small & wilted], broccoli [more stalk then head] & celery [thin, sparse & skinny]As previous whinges, not ones I'd have picked, everI have to collect my prescription tomorrow so depending on what it looks like re SD & crowding I may venture into Costcutter for replacementsDinner, it's just too hot to bother, probably finish up with cheese & salady sarnie now I've fresh loaf & a manky lettuceEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens3 -
So far today I've scoffed:
A round of cucumber sandwiches.
A round of tomato sandwiches
An entire bag of jelly sweets
A choc ice.
A pack of doritos.
I did just go down, intending to cook up the final/two sausage patties, possibly slicing a bit of cheese and maybe eating those in a flatbread with a squirt of ketchup... but, once I got down there, somebody'd just started their own chopping-fest of stuff, so I turned and returned to my room.
EDIT: Later on I had an egg/cucumber sandwich, another pack of doritos, another choc ice, a banana and, about midnight, a jam sandwich.3
