Good afternoon everyone,
Sort of sunny today but not as warm as yesterday. I've a couple of bits I want to do in the garden this afternoon but a couple of layers will be needed I think.
I've not had dippy eggs for ages, I always think they are a real treat. My cress is just about ready so an egg and cress sarnie will be featuring for lunch someday soon. My ex SIL and her partner seem to be over the worst of CV19 thankfully after having a rough few days. I had some lovely news yesterday my elder son and his fiancee are moving back to this area in a few weeks something they have been wanting to do. Not ideal timing but work wise it's now or not for a few years so they are going for it! Thankfully his dad has a flat they can use until they see if this is a permanent or temporary move though they might be with me for a bit at first depending on when they can get broadband installed. It will be lovely to have them living so much nearer 😁😁 though goodness knows what it means for cfo resuming!!
Groceries have been delivered, sanitised and put away. I had some missing items and a bag of some one else's baked goodies but I got through to customer service more easily and I thought to sort it out. The surplus bakery treats have been popped over the fence for the kids next door and we can have the rather lovely looking lemon curd muffins as a treat later. I'm afraid whoever got my bag expecting their treats is going to be sadly disappointed!
Lunch was a mini pork pie with salad. Tonight my son is on cooking duty we're having pork steaks with whatever he decides to cook. Last night's kebabs were lovely and the carrot salad recipe nicked from the current Jamie Oliver programme with some added cumin was lush, a definite keeper. By the time he finished working my son cba bbqing so the kebabs went in the oven but we might light it on Sunday as the forecast is looking fairly promising.

I can't really remember what I've eaten today. But I'll try:
2 paste & tomato sandwiches. End of the bread except two crusts now. End of the paste pots too. Only a few tomatoes left.
4 squares of chocolate.
2 Rocky biscuits.
Now I'm stuck ... I think that's it. I'm sure there'd be more, but I can't think of anything else I've had, so I do think that's it for today. IF that's it ... I might make a jam sandwich in 2-3 hours' time.... I did have a noodle pot at 2am this morning.
EDIT: Oh, I had a chicken/veg cup a soup, just remembered that
Tomorrow I might go out food shopping; I'll not get a loaf this time, I'll go for flatbreads this time, break the monotony... flatbreads, salmon paste, chicken paste, maybe samosas/maybe a quiche. Between now and then I'll try to make a decision on whether to buy more tomatoes... I should, they do last ages. Maybe 2 bananas ... see how I feel in the shop.2 -
Good news re your son and partner moving closer Caronc
although it's sounds like you could have a house full for a while (I'm sure you can live with that 😁)
i hope your shopping arrived complete Farway
Freezer audit has been completed 🥶❄️ I just need to write it up so I can read it 🙄 I can foresee chicken and mince appearing in my diet for a few meals 🐔 I've a drawer almost full of HM ready meals which currently aren't needed to take to work for lunch, I may work my way through them and cook fresh ones, we shall see.......
I was going to walk lunchtime but it started to rain as I left the house, I should be careful what I wish for 😐 so decided the car could have a run out, I've not used it in two weeks and then it was only a couple of miles, luckily no queue outside T Express when I drove pass, could have been the rain so I could dash in for milk and they have 100% extra free on blueberries so they got added as well as some crisps, ppppenguins when I haven't had for years but were on offer and some other 'treats' I mustn't shop hungry 🙄
lunch was LO turkey meatloaf 🤤 with salad and dinner pan fried salmon, new potatoes, runner beans and broccoliLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin4 -
Don't quote, will delete.
As a rule, what the LL does upstairs I can't hear a thing.... ever. I was just outside in the driveway, having a quick cig.... she's only up there coughing! A dry one too .....
Oh blimey. It'd serve her right, but I don't want to get caught up in her dramas!0 -
Two small YS custard tarts for brunch.
YS Finest Chicken, Prawn, Chorizo Paella (+prawns, +roasted peppers, +roasted onion, +harissa, +ketchup) for dinner. Compared to City Kitchen Paella - suspect same factory - it is 80g more rice, virtually no tomato, 2% brown chorizo, 80g total meat/fish.
Chucked a bendy wrinkly carrot that got left out. Nothing into the freezers.
Re: Coronavirus: would encourage all to read the current official guidance on vitamin D3 supplements, if not getting plenty from oily fish and sunlight exposure (these are ideal). Very important micronutrient for immunity.
I had years with undiagnosed very low vitamin D. Well it was diagnosed just old GP surgery failed to tell me (asked 3 times for results).
My ex had seven weeks in hospital two years ago, almost died of sepsis. Contributed to his own near demise, as did low vitamin D which he was not told (hospital discharge shocking).
Should be 'shielding' he is out .... not unlike YOUR post above. He was here most of Winter and had maybe a month of my D3, hoping it was enough.Sorry YOU feel unsafe.

What a palava. It's cool/inclement this morning, so I figured "few will be at 8am/doors open at 4ldi, so I'll pop down and get in/out". As a plan it was shabby. When I arrived there was a queue of about 20 people. Took me about 35 minutes to get in.
The trouble with the system is .... you end up being stuck behind somebody doing a big shop for a family - and thinking/choosing what they want .... when you've already mentally laid out in your head precisely what you are in to grab + what you might consider once in there.
All I wanted was: flatbreads, paste, tomatoes, samosa/quiche. But I couldn't pass the person in front, so had to painfully wait ... and wait ... while they ponced about "choosing a bread", or "choosing which tomatoes". I did, luckily, manage to dart about a bit once I'd reached the central aisle that goes across the ends of all aisles.
I decided, therefore, to shop for a bit more, as I'd waited so long to get in.
Haul was: 2 packs flatbreads, 5 pots of paste (3salmon, 2chicken), punnet of baby plum tomatoes, 2 loose bananas, cucumber (39p this week). Then pack of 4 samosas and I spotted a 6-pack of "cheese/onion rolls" (like sausage rolls) with a 30% off sticker, so grabbed those. I also grabbed two tins of satsuma segments. No sweeties... got sufficient here really.
Once home, I washed everything down, then opened the cheese/onion pack and split them into 2s, wrapped them in foil - and I now have three foil packets on the hot towel rail/radiator in the en-suite. I figure they'll warm through the day and they're not meat so not "dangerous" and it's an ideal time to see how well it does heat food up.
£6.99 I spent. It'll keep me going for awhile... it's nigh on a week's shopping, but, as it's here, I'll probably scoff my way through it quicker than idealas you do. I've always been the sort that eats food once it's in the house, so I've tried to limit what comes in as my way of not over-eating too much.
As a side note: The Coronas.... the most susceptible to dying are older/over 60, male, not white, overweight, underlying health condition. Now - they're downplaying that overweight bit, but if you start checking the photos of the dead ... you'll immediately spot, for most, "they're a bit hefty". I figure that, as I'm not over 60, male, non white, overweight, underlying health condition .... I might be ahead of the game a bit if I'm unlucky in the lottery of what you touch/who coughs near you. I score 0/5 for those five main contributors.3 -

I only fulfill one of the criteria, smoker.
ps I am a CFOer, but tend to read and not post, but I didn't want you to be complacent PN, especially as you have a huge risk in your house, she who coughs and flouts.

Brambling said:i hope your shopping arrived complete FarwayYep, it arrived much later, the van broke down but they did 'phone in advance of delivery slot to let me know, which i thought was good CS, and not like I was waiting to go out anyway. And another plus I was not aware of, substitutions seem to be free, maybe I'm wrong but that is what it appears to be.My cheapo ketchup turned into Big bottle of Heinz, my cheapo F Fingers turned into a box of the Captain's cod ones. Unfortunately there wasn't a receipt in the bags, so could be mistaken, and at the moment CBA to check my on line account right now. I wonder if it works like seat upgrades if flying? Time will tellOne downside with not being there to prod & poke, my box of detergent is ginormous, I'd never have chosen that in a shop.Must have at least a year's washing in it, luckily I've space to hoard store itBit dull & cooler today, should it warm up a tad I'll plant out some peasI've taken to newly discovered FR lamb chops out to defrost, probably grill one & have it with salad & HM AF chips, other one will do for tomorrowPart of my delivery was a sliced Tiger loaf, not one of my normal purchase, but I was tempted. Looks tasty, using it for lunch. I'll have a cheese + salad sarnie

I'm taking vitamin C and vitamin D, but then I always do anyway. I had very low vit D levels a few years ago. My GP said most people in the UK should take a vitamin D supplement.
My husband is back at work on London Underground tonight. He is going to start wearing a mask to and from work on the train/bus. We aren't in any group that is deemed vulnerable but there is always a risk with his job, especially.
I had almost 12 hours sleep last night!I must have needed it. I woke up starving and I had two wholemeal rolls with vegan cheese, marmite and salad and a chocolate protein bar and a cup of green tea.
I'm going to have vegan fish and chips later with marinated tofu, HM oven chips and peas. I'm going to have a green smoothie at some point too, banana, apple and spinach.3
