I had one of the BBE Jan ones for lunch, I'll use t'other tomorrowBuddlia pruning completed, just in time as it was starting to regrow. Also tidied up the blackberry while I was in the mood. Looks like buds on most things are now ready to pop once a bit of warmth arrivesStew & dumpling out of fridge, just needs nuking nearer timePasturesNew said:Today I've just had a flatbread with two (Iceland/10p each) fishcakes in it and a splash of chilli ketchup. I'd bought a bag of 30 of those fishcakes a few weeks ago. £2.89 for 30, 9.6p each. Meal cost 32p.Of course from what I'm reading on FB & news around here the shops' shelves are empty with just tumbleweed blowing in the aisles
Re: Fishcakes. I'll admit, they're not the best experience in the world. I also tried Mr T's, which have a higher fish content, but found the 1celand ones tasted better. But, they are a quick/cheap/tasty little filler. I like them mostly as they're an easy/quick snack to stick into a flatbread. In all honesty, the other week I paid for a homemade fat fish cake in a proper chip shop ... probably cost £1.50-2 or so - and that homemade/handmade one was no better than the 1celand frozen cheapies. You do NOT always get what you pay for, that's a myth.... perpetuated by people who shop at John Lewis & Waitrose
Re tumbleweed: There are no real shortages. Some people, in some shops, experienced an empty shelf... and photographed it. In the main, in most shops, you'd not notice any difference whatsoever.
Additionally - traditionally shops would restock 1-2x a week, so once something's gone it's gone. These days shops have lorries arriving every day (L1dl/4ldi get one lorry containing everything) .... with larger shops having a perpetual queue of lorries at the back. These goods were ordered months ago and their warehousing releases a set amount of foods/goods every day ... so tomorrow there'll be more. The supply chain has not broken down, just a few shops in a few manic areas.
Why am I in this handcart and where are we going ?5 -
PasturesNew said:On another thread, somebody said about feeding yourself for two weeks, I had a bit of a tot up and I'm all right. I worked out I've got about 2 dozen pot noodles, 10 packs of instant mash, 4 vacuum naan breads, some tinned fruit, tinned rice pudding and some peas.
Plenty.

Brambling said:. I can recommend the bacon butties in The Real Eating Company (opposite WH Smith) Farway and if you're feeling posh the eggs benedict looks really tasty 🙂Oooh, I love EB, one of my brunch style eating out meals, not one I CBA to attempt at home but ideal eating out. Bacon Butties are welcome at any time.PasturesNew said:Re tumbleweed: There are no real shortages. Some people, in some shops, experienced an empty shelf... and photographed it. Good afternoon everyone,
After wind and rain yesterday it's dry and sunny here today with just the odd sharp shower. It's still pretty windy though. I should really be gardening but did a load of chores earlier and cba now. Sis is down at her flat cleaning and my nephew at work so it was A CFO lunch of bacon and mushrooms on toast to use up the end of a pack of bacon that was OOD yesterday. Earlier I discovered a wodge of very furry melon at the back of the fridge it has a real rainbow of moulds on it.......
Chicken dinner tonight, it is a big chook so there should be plenty left to make ramen tomorrow night.5 -
Lunch was eaten in the conservatory, nice & warm out there now sun's back.Found my tomato seeds, not sown yet, got distracted by car insurance renewal, life is both hard & easy with internet, find prices quickly, then dither on which would be best if only a few pence in it, at the moment the pull of a free NOW TV pass is singing it's sweet siren songEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens4

Evening all 🙂
Quiet morning today i caught up on some housework and some cooking for the next couple of days, this afternoon I went to watch the NY Met opera online screening of Agrippina it was the encore so started 2pm, it always throws me going that early 🙂.
Lunch was a quarter of quiche I discovered in the freezer which I reheated from frozen in the air fryer with a spinach salad. Dinner was a kind of pork stroganoff using some FR Hampshire pork fillet also from the freezer there's enough LO probably for Tuesday dinner. Chicken and vegetable soup made for the next three lunches as well
