I didn't need to eat again yesterday after my chippy chips ... which didn't stop me ploughing through 2/3rds of a bag of wine gums though
Today I've just had a flatbread with two (Iceland/10p each) fishcakes in it and a splash of chilli ketchup. I'd bought a bag of 30 of those fishcakes a few weeks ago. £2.89 for 30, 9.6p each. Meal cost 32p.2 -
My PB baguettes were OOD as suspected, one pack BBE Jan, other BBE Feb. I had one of the BBE Jan ones for lunch, I'll use t'other tomorrowBuddlia pruning completed, just in time as it was starting to regrow. Also tidied up the blackberry while I was in the mood. Looks like buds on most things are now ready to pop once a bit of warmth arrivesStew & dumpling out of fridge, just needs nuking nearer timePasturesNew said:Today I've just had a flatbread with two (Iceland/10p each) fishcakes in it and a splash of chilli ketchup. Re: Fishcakes. I'll admit, they're not the best experience in the world. I also tried Mr T's, which have a higher fish content, but found the 1celand ones tasted better. But, they are a quick/cheap/tasty little filler. I like them mostly as they're an easy/quick snack to stick into a flatbread. In all honesty, the other week I paid for a homemade fat fish cake in a proper chip shop ... probably cost £1.50-2 or so - and that homemade/handmade one was no better than the 1celand frozen cheapies. You do NOT always get what you pay for, that's a myth.... perpetuated by people who shop at John Lewis & Waitrose
Re tumbleweed: There are no real shortages. Some people, in some shops, experienced an empty shelf... and photographed it. In the main, in most shops, you'd not notice any difference whatsoever.
Additionally - traditionally shops would restock 1-2x a week, so once something's gone it's gone. These days shops have lorries arriving every day (L1dl/4ldi get one lorry containing everything) .... with larger shops having a perpetual queue of lorries at the back. These goods were ordered months ago and their warehousing releases a set amount of foods/goods every day ... so tomorrow there'll be more. The supply chain has not broken down, just a few shops in a few manic areas.2 -

On another thread, somebody said about feeding yourself for two weeks, I had a bit of a tot up and I'm all right. I worked out I've got about 2 dozen pot noodles, 10 packs of instant mash, 4 vacuum naan breads, some tinned fruit, tinned rice pudding and some peas.
Plenty.2 -
I could easily feed myself for two weeks however I would miss fresh fruit and veg which I eat a lot of and milk in my tea. It might be an opportunity to eat down the contents of my freezer 🙂
i finally got to meet my friend in Chichester today and it was dry 👏 from the train it looks like the River Arun has flooded fields around Arundel. It was good to catch up, mainly eating and gossiping and very little shopping 😁. I meant to try the Fat Fig Farway but forgot until I walked back up to the station. Lunch was a very nice bacon ciabatta roll with a blackcurrant flapjack thing for afternoon tea and copious amounts of tea. I can recommend the bacon butties in The Real Eating Company (opposite WH Smith) Farway and if you're feeling posh the eggs benedict looks really tasty 🙂
Dinner was a easy jacket potato with cheese
hope you enjoyed your fish and chips Caronc

Fish and chips were fab earlier. I had cod which had been landed at the harbour/fish market last night so was beautifully fresh. This chippy which is attached to a restaurant is at the harbour side and buys directly from the boats. It's a bit more expensive than the standard chippy and you never quite know what they'll have but it's worth it. My poor sis just about got blown away getting it, though it did mean that the queue wasn't too bad 😊.
If need be I'm definitely more than fine for two weeks (months probably yikes) worth of food though would miss fresh milk and veg. I had to smile earlier when I took a delivery in for my neighbours which was rather a lot of loo roll they had ordered online. I'll know where to go if I run out lol 🧻🧻🧻3 -
Yesterday I ended up having had: flatbread/2 fishcakes, remainder of the wine gums, flatbread alone, half a box of matchmakers
