Oh dear Unrecordings you're not going to be popular, his lordship doesn't do human food which threw me when I first got him, I just hope I never have to bribe him to take pills  I freeze smoke salmon when I pick it up YS or on offer.

I finally bit the bullet and put up my Christmas tree tonight, he's now sitting staring at it, hopefully not getting any ideas  last year he was a PITA with the table decorations, he didn't touch them but would sit amongst it as soon as my back was turned

Ours won't do pills either. For a while a puree of the freshest lambs liver & pill worked, but I think I didn't grind the pill up enough once and I was rumbled. Fortunately in the popularity stakes, I'm not the one who has to take her to the vet, and I'm not the house vegan

Why am I in this handcart and where are we going ?

I walked a 4 mile round trip to town and on the way I remembered the final portion of macaroni I've got, so decided that'd be lunch. Just cooked/ate that with some more of the cheese. Just one piece of cheese remaining now. The pack cost me approximately £1.80, so I've about 45p of cheese remaining.
  • I've had wholemeal toast with mashed avocado and a berry and a banana smoothie.

I have some cooked rice in the fridge and will probably either make a red lentil chilli or a chickpea curry to go with it.

Popped into Mr T ... found myself looking in the trifle/cheesecake section. They had a 2-pack of individual trifles for 59p, so one of those is being scoffed.

    I picked up a 67p pizza, but I couldn't see the curry/rice so got a lasagne (65p) instead.

Also bought .... some Mr T Spiced Apple & Clementine Pies, look like mince pies/same section. https://www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/products/304414489

Somebody here'd tossed an empty box in the bin and I thought "they sound nice". I'm not one for buying ready made apple pies etc as they're usually disappointing... then somebody said to me "I nearly bought some of those, they're really nice", so I went looking for them. They're pricey ... £1.50 for 6 (whereas mince pies are £1), but I got a pack... and they said "2 for £2".... I walked away, then thought "Go back, that 2nd pack is now only 50p" so I went back and bought a second box of 6. I'm somebody for whom "1-2 is enough per year" and I've now got 12 :)

Into town today, milk run mainly, but L's first as it's on the way. I was hoping the shallots were on offer, not yet it seems, picked up cheese & pickled gherkins anyway

Ah that was also me this morning in Iceland with mince pies, £1.89 for six, two packs two quid lurking at checkout for added temptation. Like you a couple a year do me but they will not be wasted;)

Asda & w8rose nothing YS to tempt, I was on lookout for frozen chips as I've only got the skinny fries in, once I spotted the price of the chunky ones the MSE kicked in and I bought pre-pack 3k of "less than perfect" which will see me into 2020

Lunch was PB rolls with BLT
Dinner, I'm defrosting Feb YS mince beef & onion pasty, I'll have it with HM chips + tin of beans

I did notice when in Mr T's they've got their cheap Xmas veg for sale.

    Cauli 29p.
    Carrots
    Brussels
    Bags of Spuds

Didn't check the other prices as I wasn't in there for Xmas veg :)

I'll be tasked with finding/buying Xmas veg at my destination, which is reasonable.... so I'll most likely be buying that Monday evening or Tuesday morning, wherever I'm told to go.... although I might be sent 5 miles to "the proper greengrocer" my host prefers :)

When you're homeless at Xmas and have secured a bed, you just go "OK" and go and complete the errands :)
  • I made a veggie curry in the end, it was nice and hot. I had two bowls of it and some bread to dip in as well.

I bought a Moomin soft toy a couple of years ago.:D It's sitting in my bedroom alongside the two teddy bears I have had since I was a kid.

My oldest teddy bear is 40 years old.

I saw on the MSE email today that Aldi has Christmas veg at 19p a bag.

I think the brussels/carrots were 19p and I think the spuds were 29p.

I didn't type that as I couldn't swear to it, nor did I look at all the veg to see what range they had on offer.

On the basis of there allegedly being a sprout shortage this year, I'm disappointed they were not bagging them in 0.5Kg bags... although, again, I didn't look at the sizes, so they might do (but I bet not).

I figure most people don't want 1Kg, but that's the bag size... so halving the bag size would mean everybody could find them easily.... but big organisations don't "think"

You would be wrong. They do "think". Into far more detail than you might "think".

If they are selling 1kg bags, it's because they will shift more 1kg bags and make maximum profit.
