Another wet morning, I had hoped to do a spot of light pruning / tidying in the garden. Oh well, plenty of time left for that

Breakfast, usual porridge, except with last night's lamb shank popping it's bag in the nuker, my porridge had an accompanying whiff of minted lamb:eek:. At least it was not kippers this time round;)

Spot of online clerical today, insurance, savings accounts shuffle, may even pay the income tax:( Get it all sorted before Christmas

Lunch, use up, scrambled eggs on toast
Dinner, use up, LO boiled spuds, veg & mushrooms in a frittata, with side salad

I've got an address.... so plans can now be firmed up.

My new address will have a shared kitchen, but my living space is 'vast' and next to the kitchen so plenty of room for stockpiling ... I've no idea how much space I'll get in the fridge/freezer, but assume at least one shelf and basket. Only sharing with one other who declared she is "not a cook/doesn't really cook/doesn't bother".

Food stocks are: 1.5Kg chips, 2 cans of beans, 2 eggs, 2 hash browns, 1 flatbread, a bit of cheese, a tiny amount of margarine.

Today I'll probably scramble those eggs, cook the hash browns and open a can of beans. Later I'll probably have cheesy chips and beans.

Luckily the marg has run out just at the right time. I need a small bit (size of a broad bean) for my scrambled eggs and that's it.

Can't buy another loaf as that'd imply toast, which would then require margarine and there's not enough marg, or time, for 20 rounds of toast this week :)

Wednesday I had a kitten many years ago who got a claw stuck under the washing machine, she had been sitting watching it spin. I couldn't get her out and phoned my BIL in panic, he came straight around as he rang the door bell she jumped and released herself :rotfl: I had to open the door with her in my arms and apologise for dragging him out :)

    Good evening everyone,
Yikes re trapped cats, a bit like fallen footballers pets seem to be able to maximise drama for minimal things but carry on stoically when they are properly hurt!

Yes, dogs are the same way.:D I think I said on here a while back I had to take my JRT to the vet in the pouring rain in a cab at night as she hurt her leg and she was shaking, whining and limping.

Get her to the vet and she is suddenly fine and able to walk.:rotfl:

  • To the people on here with cold sores. I take a supplement called Lysine. A nurse in the USA told me about it. I used to get them regularly and I would hate to feel the dreaded tingle. I haven't had a cold sore in years, actually.

I just order it from Am*zon and take a few tablets a week.:) It's very inexpensive.

    Leftover cold pizza for breakfast.

Congratulations PN, a roof over your head to start 2020
Maybe as other tenant is no cook they may just use RMs so possibly some of them in the shared fridge? Or just takeaways?

    When's moving day?

It was scrambled eggs for lunch, and with frittata tonight my egg stocks are down to two.

I normally shop in L's on Tuesday on my way to volunteering, but with volunteering on holiday closing I may have to change routine, depends on weather really but bread & milk are getting a bit low

    Other is the home owner.

    Date = 28th.

Tomorrow I'm taking everything except basic bedding, clothes on my back and a few changes of clothes, PC, mug and picnic plates and dumping it all in storage... must remember to remove a double fitted sheet (er, which box??) and an empty box (for PC) from storage.

    :)

On Sunday I'll then load up my "bare minimum" and travel 200 miles for Xmas... then on 28th load up the car again, drive 200 miles and move in....

I'll have a sheet/duvet/pillows, bath towel, some changes of clothes and a mug... I'll then head for Mr T and get some ready meals to tide me through until I can face going to storage and working out what I want/need.

So long as I have a duvet to curl up in, a mug to drink from, a bath towel to keep clean, my PC and access to a microwave I can survive.... if I do decide I need something I'd forgotten and CBA to go to storage for something trivial, I know where £land, 4ldi, B&M, Home Bargains and The Range are... you can get everything there. :)

    I'm not high maintenance.

It'll be "like camping, but with proper walls".

    Good evening everyone,

Excellent news PN - must be a weight off your mind:D.
Thanks for the tip re the Lysine Wednesday - thankfully this has been a mild outbreak but I really should order some.
Windy, damp and bitterly cold here today, the hotel we went to for lunch is up a hill and very exposed, the wind would have sliced you in two when we got out the car. Lunch & the company were both excellent, unusually for me I had three course so I'm not hungry this evening. I had garlic & ginger prawns to start, a spiced salmon & prawn fishcake (really good) with salsa verde, marie rose, salad & chips followed by Christmas pudding with custard & ice cream. I enjoyed every mouthful and my friends all enjoyed their choices too. The Christmas menu was good value for £19, unlike many places the quality of ingredients & cooking doesn't slip at this time of year.:) A lot of the diners were folk obviously on their lunch break and apart from us and another two tables by 2.30 the place was empty. The staff were quite happy for us to sit and natter for another couple of hours over coffee. This meant we got to see the most gorgeous sunset over Ailsa Craig from one window and the night rolling in behind a snow topped Arran from another - absolutely stunning views:D.
It was almost 5pm before I got home and the house was baltic, the CH got switched on high while I got changed out of my "decent" clothes then set & lit the stove. I had hoped to get the stove done this morning but time ran away with me after making a phonecall that took much longer than I thought it would so it was bit of a scramble in the end up to get "presentable" before I got picked up. My "to do" for tomorrow is looking rather large as I was later home than I thought I would be but will worry about that in the morning. The lurgy has subsided to a sniffle & spluttery cough, hopefully another early night will help see it off.:)

Good news PN and one less thing to worry about :). Hopefully the housing market will pick up in the new year

Sounds like a great lunch Caronc :)

I've upset his lordship tonight :D next door's kitten ran to greet me when I got home from work very friendly and very loud it must be about 18 weeks old and the first time I've seen it out, he chased my bully boy around and around the garden until he hid, then invited himself in  I had to pick him up and stand in their garden until my 'brave' one shot indoors :rotfl:. I felt guilty about leaving him out in the rain as they were out, it cried on my doorstep loud enough to hear indoors so being a big softy I ended up on the doorstep in the rain for 15 minutes having kitten cuddles, he climbed my legs every time I put him down, I handed it over when they got home, it seems he escaped this morning and they couldn't get him in again. I then got sniffed at by his lordship, hissed at twice and he's gone to bed with no dinner to sulk even after I changed my kitten scented top :rotfl: considering he was rehomed because he doesn't play well with others it was funny to see him frightened of a kitten, I think he would react differently if it came in the cat flap

Lunch was LO Nasi Goreng, it was a big portion for lunch so I wasn't really hungry for dinner and have just eaten a apple and some cheese

  • Could be some paternal like instinct, not sure if male cats actually do that, but I've seen it in female cat versus no holds barred kitten. Ours is at the vet overnight for an x-ray, when she gets back there'll be deli cooked chicken waiting on the table and baked potatoes all round.

Why am I in this handcart and where are we going ?
