    Good evening everyone,
A two day hangover - definitely a sign of getting old Wednesday;):rotfl:
You're getting there with your use ups PN:)
I think some of the M&S food is quite good value even though the quality isn't quite as good as it used to be at times. Some stuff is hugely overpriced for what it is though IMHO, you've done a good job in teaching your son to be savvy Farway :).
My nephew came round this afternoon for some help wth his uni application, we are making good progress with this thankfully and unlike if my sis was doing this with him there was no bickering...... :D However, I had forgotten he was coming until he appeared so tomorrow's curry hasn't been started yet. I'll get the meat browned and the curry paste made, the two can mingle overnight in the fridge and I'll finish it tomorrow. I have a definite case of the sniffles and the start of a cold sore right under my nose.:( I've plastered it with anti viral cream and keeping my fingers crossed it doesn't spread or it will be a scabby Christmas for me:eek:.
The weather here is horrible, the rain has more lumps than liquid and it's blowing a hooley. Even with the stove going full blast it's not feeling particularly warm. I'm contemplating popping the heating on for a bit as well which I don't usually need to do but if I add anymore layers I'll not be able to move:eek:. I suspect the developing lurgy is probably to blame as much as anything!
Apart from peeling a few sprouts the rest of my meal tonight is from the freezer - breaded haddock, oven chips, spinach & peas. I might make myself some cocoa laced with brandy at bedtime to ward of the chills:cool:.

My turn to work today, at least I can work from home :) although we could have done without the technical hiccup which meant working until 6.30pm with a call to India who had to call the US who called us back, we're not allowed to call the US tech guys direct even if they were doing the maintenance ...

His lordship decided to 'help' and came in the cat flap at speed jumped onto the table, ran across the laptop keyboard and off the other side  I've never seen that particular pop up before :o and I had to rerun a report :( later he head butted the bottom of my mug of tea and I wore it  it seems I'm not allowed to work at home if he wants attention- he's a PITA today :rotfl:

Meals today were dependent on what had to come out of the freezer for the chicken to go in :D. Crumpets and marmalade for breakfast, quorn goujons in a pita for lunch and Nasi Goreng for dinner with some sad spinach wilted into it. The Nasi was a quick use of the mince after finishing work

Up at daft o'clock this morning, just couldn't get back to sleep. Very early porridge for breakfast, made more yoghurt and here I am clocking in

My potential lurgy seems to be holding off, but think I may be joining Caron with a cold sore under my hooter, fingers crossed

Poked my nose outside, cold & windy, sky is looking ominous from over PN's way. Just checked the radar, thunder & lightning on it's way for lunchtime:eek:
Lunch ???? stale bread will feature

Dinner, plan is to go full on today, I've got a nukeable lamb shank bought when on offer in L's a bit back, plus boiled Charlotte spuds, and use up frozen cauli / broc lumps + frozen beans.

OMG, I didn't even say what happened with my cat the other night.

I picked him up to sit on the fire surround we keep over the heater and he got his claw or paw caught in the gap. He screeched the house down. I was trying to get him free and the dogs ran over. The Jack Russell started trying to jump up and nip at him as she probably thought it was a game so I had to pick her up and chuck her in the kitchen and slam the door. In that time the cat had got his paw free and managed to knock over the fire surround, the coffee table and the candle holder.

I thought I was going to have to take my cat to the vet but he slept for a while and then acted like nothing had happened, not limping or anything. What a drama!_pale_

  • I just had wholemeal toast with marg and Marmite and an energy drink.

I have got the last of the stuff to make chickpea salad again. It's amazing how much fresh herbs can add to a meal. I have to start using them more. I like fresh coriander as well as parsley but I should try some different herbs.:)

    Good afternoon everyone,
Sounds as though moggies are keeping you both on your toes Brambling & Wednesday:eek:
Hope your cold sore doesn't develop Farway, mine has but thankfully hasn't spread so not too scabby at the moment. Lurgy is still at the snuffly, bunged stage, with a bit of luck that will be the extent of it. I ended up with just a cup of tea at bedtime as I decided I cba making cocoa.
It's another cold & wet one here but at least the wind has died back, there was a short gap in the rain so I nipped to the bin and put my food caddy out for collection. I shouldn't need to venture back out today.:)
I'm not CFO tonight as my sis & nephew are coming for dinner. No pud tonight as we are having a starter instead - spiced roast cauli, samosas , poppadoms, HM spicy onions and HM pakora sauce. It's minced lamb, potato, spinach and pea curry for the main course with rice & naans. Hopefully the spices will help clear my tubes and I've added a fair bit of root ginger to the curry paste. Bacon , egg and mushrooms for lunch today.:)

We've had 3 seasons weather since this morning, currently in Autumn mode but I'm hoping summer mode returns soon

We really must stop sharing illnesses on here CFO, Farway/Caronc hopefully your cold sores aren't too crusty

    Dinner sounds lovely Caronc :)

Wednesday I had a kitten many years ago who got a claw stuck under the washing machine, she had been sitting watching it spin. I couldn't get her out and phoned my BIL in panic, he came straight around as he rang the door bell she jumped and released herself :rotfl: I had to open the door with her in my arms and apologise for dragging him out :)

Yet another wet day, so I stayed in most of the day trying to get some sewing done for my sister, I popped to the garden centre this afternoon for a cuppa with her to discuss family stuff, I was good and declined cake :)

Lunch was a spicy bean burger from the freezer and dinner pork chop, new potatoes and vegetables

    Good evening everyone,
Yikes re trapped cats, a bit like fallen footballers pets seem to be able to maximise drama for minimal things but carry on stoically when they are properly hurt!
All though I say it myself (says she modestly:o) tonight's meal was blooming lovely.:D Everything worked really well and my nephew had three helpings of the curry & side dishes and took some for his lunch tomorrow. I'm very glad I'm not feeding him every day! After starting with what seemed like far too much food for three there's only a small portion of keema and a smidge of spicy onions LO. This will do me nicely for a light meal tomorrow night after having lunch out. The minced lamb from the online butchers was gorgeous, no river of fat when browned and as it was on SO when I bought it cheaper than the SM equivalent which I tend to find melts away when you brown it leaving very little meat. I've used the last of my stash of this so must add some to my next order though going by how full my freezers are that won't be for a while. I think I might need to haul out my Spong-style mincer and mince my own in the interim.
Cold sore is not yet at the crusty stage so I'm hoping some [STRIKE]polyfilla[/STRIKE] concealor will cover it before I head out for lunch tomorrow. Lurgy is still fairly low grade and a couple of glasses of wine with dinner have tamped the symptoms down.;) With a bit of luck it's been a short-lived virus and will be on the way out after a night's sleep. So far it hasn't poked the "wonky donkey" so fingers crossed it stays that way.:)
