Into town, shops not as manic as PN's, mind I was there about 0930, by the time I went home traffic was stupid, queuing on all roads to get into large car park, luckily I was going in the opposite direction by then
L's for veg, the offers have started, carrots, sprouts, parsnips, mini [small] roasting spuds, all 15p pack, plus shallots 29p pack. All handy CFO sizes. I bought the lot, and if I can find the pickled shallot recipe from Caron I think I'll crack on with that over the weekend
That's all my Chrimbo grocery shopping completed, I could stay in until Boxing day now & still have plenty of food. I secretly hoped to spot a ham on offer, but none. I may venture out on 24th but not a problem if I don't
Sun's out & mild as well. It tipped overnight so too soggy to do any garden stuff, the only thing is trim an African Violet later:)
Lunch was bacon butties with brown sauce, using rolls from a pack of YS cheese topped rolls from Iceland this morning
Dinner I think will be frittata, use up of the LO cold boiled spuds, some mushrooms and whatever else is lurking, with side saladEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
It was a fun drive to work this morning :eek: the county has been hit by floods and it was still raining. I did think of turning around a couple of times but carried on, it got better a couple of miles from work. I was a little stressed when I got to work I really don't like driving in flood water and told the boss I was going home
he lives close to the office so didn't understand why  I did stay until lunch time as I wanted to drive home in day light and was worried with the threat of more rain. The trip home was a lot better than I though it would be at lease the laptop means I can work from home (which is what I'm doing now, honest
)
YS Crumpets brought in the garage when I brought petrol on the way home served as a late lunch with some cheese, not sure about dinner yet, there's plenty of food so I'll decide later.Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -
Good evening everyone,
Driving on flooded surfaces is horrible Brambling I'm not surprised you wanted safely home. I think a G&T sounds well deserved.;)
Shopping-wise I'm hoping that between a grocery order booked for Sunday & the butchers one for Monday that we will be covered and my son won't have to run the gauntlet of a busy SM on Monday. I think that may well be a pipe-dream but he says he doesn't mind.:)
The last 36 hours have been pretty full on here but my sister, nephew and cat are safely in their new house. Exhausted but glad it went as smoothly as it could do.:D Her cat was initially less than impressed at being at mine but once he worked out the chair he was hiding under was actually big, comfy and all his, the yowling stopped and apart from eating his lunch/using his litter box he snoozed the day away.
My son is away to Glasgow with his mates for a curry and a pub crawl. He's not usually a big drinker so I'm not expecting anything too "messy" when he gets back but you never know....... I suspect come home time he'll be tired as much as anything as we were both up early then he headed round to my sister's before coming back here and shifting two huge backs of logs into my log store. Tomorrow is planned as a quiet day for us all. All I seem to have done today is laundry (six loads and only three items were mine!) as my sis had loads and my son had a his work clothes plus some other bits. Still it's more or less clear now and it will give her a breathing space until hers in delivered on Christmas Eve.
Last night's stovies, beans and crusty bread went down a treat -my sis who declared she was too tired to be very hungry found her appetite and the lads had their usual hollow legs. Despite my 3.5L SC being literally full to the brim (I had to cover it with foil as the lid was sliding off) there is only a portion of stovies left and a spoonful of beans which I'll have for dinner tonight as I really cba thinking about making anything else.
PN - I hope all goes well on Sunday with you pack-up and head off to your relatives before moving into your new place. I might not get much chance to post over the next couple of weeks so wish all CFO-ers a :xmassign:0 -
Complete mayhem here. Thankfully only of a psychological nature. For breakfast I defrosted some sausages, and resolved to use the liver we got for the little monster which she wasn't allowed to eat. when we got her home the vet decided a little variation from the hospital food was not a bad thing (but I've eaten it all apart from the Dreamies & some smoked salmon) She ended up with a cone (the 'suit' involves taking it off, and getting it back on when the litter tray beckons - what idiot thought of that ?). So she spent an hour ramming the cone between my toes, now she's sleeping it off with a little British cure ham inside her. Which is a little blander than Yorkshire cure
Why am I in this handcart and where are we going ?0 -
PN - I hope all goes well on Sunday with you pack-up and head off ...
I have to pack everything, including all my bedding/quilt/pillows and towel into the car, take the PC apart/pack it and into the car ... and my few kitchen items and spare food, then return to the empty room and give it a thorough cleaning before I can set off. Also cleaning the shower room, loo, sink and floor. I'll not shower Sunday morning, so I can do 95% of that Saturday night
While a lot can be done tomorrow (picture rails, skirting boards, doors, windows, mirrors), sink, empty the bin, polish work surfaces ... and vacuuming (behind/under furniture and to the edges), it'll still need another quick vacuum as the act of packing/moving out will no doubt generate fresh bits and bobs on the carpet
If it were a simple "wake up, toss 4-5 bags in the car and away" it'd be easierAnd you can't pack up half of it the night before in case the car's robbed in the night (never been before, but why risk it).

Glad puss is back home even if creating mayhem with her cone. I'm sure a little Yorkshire ham will be more than okay and let her sleep it off content. Does she like eggs? My sisters cat adores eggs that have been cooked in a pan that's had something meaty in it. After an op for a horrible abscess on his face he was very off his food for a while but would eat that. There is always tripe if you can face it but I suspect Mrs Un would move out.......0

Glad the cat is home ok Unrecordings
. The last time I brought a cat home in a cone she came out of her carrier backwards at speed and tried running backwards around the lounge to get away from it, for the first two days if she was on one floor the other cat was on the other  after the required 10 days of two shut in cats one with a cone that meant she had no balance and would fall off the furniture I told the vet if it didn't come off he would need to put us all on valium
Great that the move went ok CaroncIt must have been a manic three weeks for her

Bright & sunny start to the day but I'm not going out to face the loons ramming a month's shopping in
However I've just realised I will have to go out 24th morning, the cleaners are due then, normally Tuesday morning is my volunteering morning and I'm out of the way for them, no objection to seeing them, just don't want the awkwardness of trying to use loo / kitchen etc with them around
Porridge as per usual breakfast
Snap on defrosting sausages Un, I've oiked a pack out this morning, they were YS in Jan so could do with using.
If they've defrosted in time I'll have a couple in the YS cheese topped rolls for lunch
Dinner will be the defrosted bangers, they are posh W8rose ones BTW, not sure with what yet, time & if I CBA will help decide. Thinking about it sausage sarnies sounds nice right now
PS, update, the sausage sarnie sounded so tempting I've just popped a readymix loaf into the Panny, I was going to make a laof anyway just jumped the gun a bitEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0
