  • I woke up craving homemade tomato soup so I have that bubbling away on the stove now. I'm going to have it with two rolls and marg. My stomach is growling as it smells so nice as I caramelised the onion.

I have frozen blueberries and bananas for a smoothie too.

Bacon sandwiches here, currently trying to figure out how to get wet food into the cat without removing the cone (cos we'll never get it back on) - a plastic shoehorn currently seems the best but untested option, that or some kind of melamine spoon

    Edited to add:
    Actually the shoehorn works
A little 7" one like this

Why am I in this handcart and where are we going ?

Seem kinder than my initial thought, this https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vehicle-Filling-Plastic-Funnel-Soft-Pipe-Pour-Oil-Petrol-Diesel-Kerosene-Tool-NE/352794045290

The bangers defrosted in time for two at lunchtime, they are the shrinking type:( so not as filling as could be. Another item I'm glad were YS and not full price

I've 4 left, I'll have them for dinner, possibly in a sarnie using my freshly baked loaf. Being shrinking that equals two normal ones
I've taken a pack of my HM stewed apple out to defrost now, just fancy stewed apple + custard

She's already nearly waterboarded herself drinking from a tap so now banned from the bathroom too. As you've guessed we're using the shoehorn as a spoon, and cat can just lick the stuff off the end, a napkin underneath helps reduce smearage

Unrecordings when my cat wore 'the cone' I found if I fed her on a saucer with the circumference smaller than the cones she would just drop her head over it and tuck in, but there was a reason she answered to fat cat :rotfl: she liked food too much to wait for me to hand feed her :)

Most of today has been wet so with no need to face the crowds I've stayed in, I went as far as posting a card next door cutting across the extremely boggy and spongy lawn.

Lunch was a couple more of the crumpets brought yesterday with some toasted cheese and dinner rump steak, chips, mushrooms and sweetcorn

It's s little too big for her to 'plug in' we tried that she's not figured it out yet, she's only just stopped bashing into stuff

Tea here - LO Waitrose own brand cappelletti with just a little butter & black pepper. Seems to be a new intermediate range, not as expensive as their other stuff, but not as rank as the Essential range (where you can't get away with just a little butter & black pepper)
Then a couple of Iceland/FoodWarehouse Angus burgers, in fairly stale breadcakes & the wrong mustard, still not bad.

Now steak & chips (and mushrooms & shallots & liver) that's something to look forward to after xmas

Sunshine this morning, but I managed to prune the grapes yesterday so no need to venture out today.

I never used the de frosted HM stewed apples last night, so it's crumble day today. I found a BBE Jan 2019 packet of ready to use crumble mix lurking which is what prompted the crumble idea

    Porridge as usual
Lunch, I've tow LO cold cooked sausages so it's them + piccalilli in a sarnie

Dinner. ???????, probably raid the freezer looking for inspirtaion

  • I have just had toast and I am having a smoothie later.

I have the roasted tomato soup leftover in the fridge.

  • Making a bit of freezer space this evening, so it's going to be a case of trying out a few recent Food Warehouse finds. For Mrs Un, the Iceland No Bull/No Cheese, No Piggies brand xmas dinner in a bag, which we think is just some kind of vegan party selection to which you add your own veg, gravy etc. For me some kind of broccoli/potato affair and Findus Crispy Pancakes

Ditto for dinner, bit of freezer space, but I think I may try the vegan No Bull chilli, it was YS clearance in Iceland a few months back, 50p, so I've low expectations

On brighter note, the apple crumble turned out looking good, thus if vegan chilli is "meh" I have a plan B
