    Good evening everyone
"And what are you cooking for the critics ?"
"Pan fried heritage sponge with a nice aubergine & smoked tofu custard"

It'll be on Masterchef tonight, mark my words...
    I wouldn't be surprised:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I'd have gone with 1/2 tin PN though probably with the chips, it would feel (to me) that I was clearing more stocks.

I spotted earlier that my son had opened a bag of tortilla chips at the weekend and decided to have some alongside my corned beef roll. I can testify that a buttered tiger roll with corned beef, tortilla chips and a smidge of mayo is lovely:D. Now my dinner for tonight has defrosted I can see it has been made with Polish sausage rather than bangers which I thought and also has spuds in it. (Note to self be clearer on the label:o). It's not a huge portion, really more lunch sized than a main meal so will need some padding out, I think a poached egg and a toasted pitta should cover it. :)

It's cold here this evening, after it being so mild for the last few days it was a bit of shock to see the frost coming down as soon as it got dark:eek:. I'm not complaining though as at least we had a dry & sunny day earlier .:) My poor postie is demented, it's the first week of the Christmas temporary sorters and posties. He was day off yesterday and I got a card through my door which was neither for me but also for another very different address a few miles away. When collecting it today he said he's done nothing but pick up/drop off wrongly delivered stuff all week and that's before the rush starts....
  • Still making my way through that cake - had a bit more this afternoon. Must be two weeks old now and still good. Tea was CBA chicken soup, ie ramen with flakes of cooked chicken, foraged leaves from the garden (courtesy of Mrs Un) and a couple of last years shallots. I would have had some Japanese ginger in there too, but it had completely dried out in the fridge must have been there at least a week though, seems a lot more tender that traditional 'supermarket' ginger root.

Why am I in this handcart and where are we going ?

Not far wrong a savoury squash pannacotta with a parmesan crisp:rotfl:(It actually looked lovely:D)
I've been checking one of the online butchers I like as I want to order some stuff and yes they were reducing everything by 25% for Black Friday. Order has been duly placed although stashing it in the freezer will be interesting.

Dry, bright and frosty here this morning though the sun is beginning to melt the frost now.

Once popped in a bowl my Polish sausage casserole was more than it looked so didn't need padding out. It was tasty but one of those bung in never to be exactly replicated dishes.

Lunch will be a rinse and repeat of yesterday's corned beef roll and tortilla chips as both the meat & the chips need using up:). Something fish based for dinner, I bought some "finest fishfingers" this week so might have those or a fish cake or cook some from scratch. I'll see how I feel later.
  • I am doing my level best to cut down on anything containing sugars, on day 2 haha. I met a man with neuropathy and it scared the s*** out of me. I am avoiding pre-diabetes if possible

Today is my annual delivery of boned organic turkey breast, cost me a lot but I will be slicing and vac packing to get a years worth of meals. I cannot get the same good stuff except christmas. One freezer drawer is empty, yipee and I have the vac bags ready.

later lunch is a lakeland pod of veg with a small frozen celeriac and a de-boned mackerel from the freezer. I`ll have to eat the mackerel slowly in case I left any bones in

I hope you are all well, I see that caronc is still star baker :D

    Cold & bright here today
L's first thing, car park had more cars than normal in "Black Friday", I was expecting crowds fighting for TVs etc but surprisingly it was normal inside

Usual YS, 20p loaf + 20p RM fresh fruit salad, the latter was good, because I had my annual health MOT this morning, failed on BMI of course, too short for my weight:D, so the FS will be virtue signalling pud today:)

Lunch, BBE March 2017 fish paste, with sliced cucumber in rolls. I've binned the LO but have one more jar to use tomorrow

Dinner, Use up salad, with tinned tuna + mayo in jacket spud, then the YS FS for pud

My online ethical butcher has similar offers, but due to poor planning by me I forgot about this possibility and have no real freezer space without cutting into "just in case" space for any possible YS XCFO bits I spot

I've got peripheral neuropathy, thankfully not the painful kind, just numbness & the odd tingle. I'm kind of used to it now as just an extension of what my tumour is trying do to me. It's always worse in the morning, and longer fingernails in my experience help mitigate the numbness of the fingerpads

  • I finished slicing and packing the turkey in no time, it is a good meat for me and of course made me sort the freezer which is a good thing. I have to say that the mackerel and veg was simply lovely, I didn`t expect it to be anything other than nutritious but I actually enjoyed it. It could have been that half teaspoon of dorset herbs

So my eating finishes at 4,30 and consequently I am sleeping better ie flatter because digestion has had plenty of time. I am listening to lbc about the bad stuff in london right now and am very glad to live in a quiet small place and feel very sorry that these nasty things keep happenng

    Good evening everyone,

No point in taking up the offer Farway if you have your eye on other stuff. My order was stuff that I was planning to order from them anyway so it made sense even if does put my freezer space under p. It was mainly boring things like mince, sausages and chicken thighs that all all the time so it made sense to get it on SO. I did pop a couple of extra bits in to qualify for free delivery but it still came to good bit less overall than my planned spends would have at full price.:money::)
pattyypan - I know you would think folk only ate turkey at Christmas as while you can still buy them at other times organic & free range ones seem to disappear so best to make the most of it. I'm loving that we now have a decent local fishmonger, it's a bit dearer than the SMs but not so much so and the quality is outstanding. Their stuff is all sourced via the local fish market at the harbour and is beautifully fresh though of course it does mean their stock is very dependant on what comes in.:)

It's bitterly cold here tonight and the frost on any north facing roofs or shady spots never lifted. It's to drop to -4C and I don't think it is far off that now. But it has been a lovely dry & bright day which I'd much rather than mild and wet.

My fishy dinner tonight is skinless haddock fillet baked with a sauce made from spinach, boursin cheese and spring onions topped with some halved baby plum toms. I'll have it with a baked spud as the oven will be on anyway. Lunch was as planned a corned beef & tortilla chip roll which used up the remaining corned beef and tortilla chips. Late afternoon I was munchy and fancied a packet crisps but as I'd had the chips & cbeef at lunchtime decided that was pushing it salt-wise and had a handful of baby toms and an orange instead. The orange was really juicy and not to put too fine a point on it any plans I might have had to wear the same jumper again tomorrow have been scuppered:o.

    Evening all :)

it's Friday :j:beer: and I got out on time :D

Currently my freezer is quite full  I keep trying to eat it down but it multiplies in there :o. HM ready meals aka LOs can take up a lot of room :). And bigger packs which need dividing tend to be cheaper so :money: currently there's not a lot of room for XCFO bits

It's turned colder today which is ok as it means it's stopped raining :T the windscreen had a fine layer of ice which only took a couple of minutes to clear, however I've just been out to the bin and had to tug the lid up as it had begun to freeze again. I'm off to Chichester tomorrow but as it's our last meeting before Christmas my friend has already mentioned gin :D. I've been instructed to walk down to the station therefore Jack Frost can do his worst :rotfl: part of the journey is on a replacement bus I may need the drink :rotfl:

Lunch was soup from the freezer, vegetables and bean I must have made a huge batch of it as it's seems to be the gift which keeps on giving I don't remember freezing so much  just one portion left in there so I'll be soup making Sunday. Dinner was pan fried cod, chips, runner beans, broccoli and a couple of tomatoes cooked in the airfryer with the chips as they needed using up

  • Cold but sunny here so not only did I manage to stretch my legs, but managed half an hour in the garden surveying the [STRIKE]neglect[/STRIKE] carefully planned wildlife sanctuary. Got to Waitrose far too late and had to partake in Friday Mayhem which started in the car park blue badge bays. Got home via our local family run garden centre and picked a reassuringly tall Fraser Fir which was delivered minutes before the chips arrived

Why am I in this handcart and where are we going ?
