I can't even imagine what pickled walnuts would taste like. I like pickled onions and gherkins.
I always put the relish/mustard/ketchup at the top of the sandwich.
I just had cold leftover spaghetti for breakfast.:D0 -
I can state that, in my opinion, the Mr T cheapo frozen chicken curry/rice at 65p is so much better than the L1dl/4ldi £1.79 chilled curry & rices that L/A might as well clear their shelves and not bother

I had an appointment for a haircut first thing... walked, so saved the £3 bus fare, but it was tipping it down.... on the walk back, popped into Pr1mark and spent £5 on a nightshirt (no particular pattern/design, it was cheap and so "would do the job"). 5.3 miles walking there/back, so feeling smug- it was a hilly route too. I was in pain/limping a bit due to the accident I'd had 3 weeks ago (when I landed I also bashed my upper thigh/hip and had a bruise) ... first time I've walked anywhere since then... but I went through the pain barrier and it loosened it up a treat by the end; probably did it a world of good.
Once home I had chicken/rice and some of the Mr T cheapo frozen chips for lunch.
I have no sweeties.... I bought/ate a box of Matchmakers yesterday, so all out of sweeties.0 -
I'm using up freezer and cupboard food this week.
We are going to have veggieburgers, oven chips, sweetcorn and toasted pitta bread tonight.
Cherry and cream soya ice cream for pudding. I might have mandarin oranges with mine.2025 GOALS

Change of plan for dinner, before the meeting I popped into the Co-op opposite my volunteer place
I'm now having YS MFO bangers & mash, ideal given the dank day outside:DEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
Good evening everyone,
Until about an hour ago I don't think it stopped tipping it down all day. It was pretty much dark by 3.30pm! It's dry now and turning chilly, I was number crunching for the school club and didn't realise how cold the house was. Thankfully I had set up the stove earlier and it just needed lighting.:)
I had a very scrummy lunch- thinly sliced roast pork & gherkins in a morning roll with wholegrain mustard and baby plum toms on the side. If there had been more rolls I probably would have been greedy and had another!:o There's enough pork left for dinner tonight and lunch again tomorrow. There's LO gravy, I'll defrost some HM mash and cook some fresh veg and that's dinner sorted. I kind of wish I hadn't told my son that it was fine if he had seconds of the cauli cheese last night to finish it up as I could go some tonight but hey ho I'm sure it will be fine without it. He did enjoy the meal and as another CFOer it was a treat to be cooked for, as it was for me to cook.:)
A vague meal plan for the week has been done though it will probably be tweaked a bit as the week goes on. My check through the fridge revealed one use up - a pack of bacon with a use by of today which I've split and frozen as it doesn't really fit with what I've got planned. Everything else is fine for a good bit yet. I've placed a grocery order for Wednesday as I'm running out of milk and other fresh bits, my loo roll stash is also much lower than I like it to be!:eek:0 -
unrecordings wrote: »Cheese & ham & mushroom toasties for breakfast. In terms of mustard Grey Poupon Dijon is working the best, it's a little brighter than the Maille Dijon which makes all the difference. So, from the bottom: Slice of 50/50, thin layer of Dijon, slice of Emmental, slice of Yorkshire Cure Ham, half a mushroom thinly sliced, slice of Emmental, slice of 50/50
Anyone else have a definite top/bottom preference in a sandwich ? For me, the mustard/relish needs to be near the top (unlike the toastie I just mentioned where it's better on the bottom)
Now you reminded me that this use to be a favourite when I made sandwiches for lunch, I like Dijon on both slices of bread
Do you have a local farmers market you can buy local honey from Farway? I'm currently eating the Exmoor honey I brought from the bee farm I went to in Devon. Your local bee association web site might list local bee keepers who may sell honey over the gate
I've finished the cauliflower cheese today by having it for both lunch and dinner and it heated rather well in the microwavemy Indian colleague gave me a taste of her lunch today after I did my ' ah bistro ' impersonation in the kitchen a lovely really spicy paneer curry and HM paratha I may mug her for her lunches in the future
Lunch was the cauliflower cheese with Parma ham and dinner I had it with LO beef. There is a little more beef than I first thought so I'll have the last of that with the last of the LO veg tomorrow night, I made a variation of chicken laksa tonight (red Thai curry as no green Thai curry paste) which I'll have for the next couple of lunchesLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -
I had the worse nights sleep last night. My husband started working nights last night. I only had 2 hours sleep.
My dogs slept from 11 last night until I had to wake them up at 6 this morning. I was just lying there staring at the ceiling all night. Grr.
I will have to have a strong cup of tea in a minute and a sausage sandwich.
I'm making HM soup later. God knows why I have 4 big bags of frozen veg in the freezer! When I use them up I'm just going to buy one bag of frozen mixed veg next time.:)
I have some nice crusty rolls to go with the soup.2025 GOALS

Good morning everyone
Yikes re the inside out dress Wednesday, sounds like the sort of thing I do when I'm sleep deprived.
I had a rubbish night too, couldn't get comfy, too hot, too cold, needed the loo. I finally got over around 4am but was awake again just after 7am. I've had a very lazy morning as I have an appointment which will take most of the afternoon so won't get the chance to put my feet up as I usually do.
Last of the pork in a sarnie for lunch and something involving eggs tonight for dinner.0 -
Another wet day with more to come:(
Into L's first thing, I wanted bread and there were 20p YS rolls for the taking, plus a YS C & O sarnie 20p so picked that up for today's lunch:j A good haul today
Prospective MP visited my volunteer place this morning, see her again in five years time?
Lunch was the YS sarnie, and I cooked a YS quiche Loraine AKA cheese & bacon flan from the Co op, on it's use date so it was freeze or cook. It'll be fine cold tomorrow
Dinner will be the gammon, eggs, chip etc I had planned for yesterday but had YS change thrust upon meDo you have a local farmers market you can buy local honey from Farway? I'm currently eating the Exmoor honey I brought from the bee farm I went to in Devon. Your local bee association web site might list local bee keepers who may sell honey over the gate
There are farmers market, but not local as in pop over, it's either Winchester or Chichester which will be fine when I'm there but not worth a special trip
I've searched online beekeepers but do not seem to have a listing of over the gate sales:(
There was house near L's had a sign a year or so back, but no sign today when I was in L's. There are hives on the garage roof though so maybe there is none available at present
Not desperate yet, I've got a deli & greengrocer who sell local produce to check yet, plus local FB group & Ye Olde Farm Shoppe where I expect to be lunching next week post hospital visit
PS Update, local GG has local honey in stock. Problem solved, I'll get a bank loan & buy some on Thursday:DEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0
