  • Quarter of cake left.

...and still edible, you wouldn't want a massive slice of it as it's dried out bit, but still works as 'nice cake'

Why am I in this handcart and where are we going ?

    Good evening everyone,

Thanks for the recipe link Brambling, Tesco did deliver the smoked tofu and I plan to use it at the weekend. I have all the ingredients needed.:D
Ouch Wednesday - I developed bursitus in the joint of my middle fingers a number of years ago and it was blooming painful never mind how swollen it got. I thought something had bit me as it happened after I had been pressure washing the garden. I was advised to alternate hot and cold cloths (freeze a face cloth) on it which did really help.

Shouts "with custard" to me :D;)

I've had a bit of a "non-day" as apart from my groceries arriving, a smokeless fuel delivery by the very chatty coalman and my sis popping round for a cuppa I've really not done very much though did finish a book that I'm still not sure if I enjoyed or not! I have loads of things I could have been getting on with but have a bad case of cba:o.

It's definitely colder than it's been and the stove got lit as soon as it got dark.

Dinner is a cba special of something from the freezer that I can either nuke or bung in the oven. I have lots of HM RMs so spoiled for choice. I'm that way that I know what I don't fancy but can't quite decide what I do.

Unfortunately I consider custard to be the food of the devil. That & aubergine. It's still nice enough (the cake that is) on its own. I'm considering a final fling with it on the sandwich press to see what happens (cue new thread asking how to get burnt jam off a 20 year old teflon hotplate)

I looked at these physio guys on Youtube that I have looked at before and now I'm not sure it is bursitis. I think it might be a sprain as the knee was swollen but not in the places the man said.

I have joint hypermobility syndrome so I sprain easily. It's usually my ankles, not my knee, though!

I iced it and elevated it and took strong ibuprofen all day yesterday. It feels a lot better. I'm going to do it again as I have a night out in central London tomorrow night.

    Good morning everyone,

Hope your knee settles down in time for your night out Wednesday!
I'll have your custard unrecordings as I love it, I like aubergine too though not with custard (never tried them together and have no intention of:rotfl:)
Dry, cold and sunny here this morning, makes a nice change after all the gloom and rain over the past few days.
Turkey & trimmings order has been placed with the butcher so at least that is something off my Christmas "to do" list.:)
Corned beef roll for lunch assuming the corned beef defrosts in time and sausage casserole from the freezer for dinner.

"And what are you cooking for the critics ?"
"Pan fried heritage sponge with a nice aubergine & smoked tofu custard"

It'll be on Masterchef tonight, mark my words...

Into town mooching day. I was sort of hoping Iceland would have YS meat & spuds, but no such luck today, luckily it is the first shop on my way from car park so plenty of opportunities if YS fail

I got my local honey from greengrocer, as expected, not cheap, over £6, not tried yet, the road honey is listed from is quite near, but it is a long & quite busy one so not one I could easily cruise along hoping to spot a signpost

A5da & W8rose were also zero YS, bit of a let down.

And our posh pastie shop has closed, I never used it except when it opened with offers, it was expensive especially as there are cheaper options, including a Gre66's nearby

Back home to lunch, cheese & piccalilli rolls again
Dinner will also be repeat of yesterday, LO flan, LO beans, fresh HM chips though, bought new bag of spuds in H Bargains
I just had a chip sandwich

    Food of the gods

I'm now at that awkward stage where I have to concentrate on eating up what I've got, without having leftovers of some things and without running out too early for other things. I will be leaving this address in just over 3 weeks.

Yesterday I had tinned spag bol & cheese on toast, then/later a scone.

Today I've had 2 bits of toast.

Right now I can't decide whether to have the 2nd half of the spag bol tin & cheese on toast, or push the boat out and use the Mr T's 65p lasagne and serve that with some of the Mr T cheapo frozen chips.
