Happy birthday PN : hopefully the house market will pick up after Christmas

Great news about the new toy Caronc :D. I've kitchenaid envy :D I've tried to convince myself to get one but know I wouldn't use it enough to warrant one :(. I have brought a new food processor :D I replaced my last one which was nearly 30 years old with a cheap one from Robert D and it was rubbish and I couldn't get it to work last time I needed it although the blender did, so I've gone back to a Kenwood another compact one I have been looking around and like you saw the one I liked at a good price :). the smaller ones all seem to come with a blender which I don't really need. I was annoyed with Am@zon as it was ordered with some Xmas presents from nephew's wish list stated delivery tomorrow and it was blocking my front door when I got home in full view having been delivered 4 hours before  email says we delivered to your reception!! I'm assuming the cat signed for it. I live in a quiet close but there is a public footpath just pass the house so a lot of footfall  it will be played with tomorrow

I stayed off the gin lunchtime :p so no drunken capers on the train, just a [STRIKE]small[/STRIKE] glass of wine :). It was a very cold start to the day and I left my scarf at home  but pretty from the train, we did stop for a few minutes which I didn't mind as in the field opposite my window was a fat Thelwell Shetland pony in a frosty field with some rabbits running around :). it was great to catch up with my friend and I briefly got to say hi to her husband and son

Couple of boiled eggs when I got home as cba to cook and not really that hungry

Sounds like a lovely day Brambling:)
:mad: to the delivery company why do they do that:mad::mad:. I had a Moulinex processor for 20+ years and gave it to my sis several years ago on loan which turned out to be a one way trip:rotfl::rotfl:. She still uses it although not that much as most of the attachments have finally shattered. I have a cheapy one these days and a decent mini chopper that do what I need them to. I had the blender as well which would probably still be going if hadn't been accidently (not by me;) )dropped on a tiled floor and cracked. (My ex was making ice cream floats for the kids). My replacement blender is probably 10 years old (Russell Hobbs) but probably will need replacing soon as the last time I used it I thought it was leaking a bit. They certainly don't build things the same now, my Kenwood I'll offer up for free on FB and I'm sure with a bit of tlc and tinkering it can be given a few more years. It is still working just no longer has the oomph for breadmaking which is my main use. It needs bits restoring/replacing that are beyond my capabilities to do. While I'm sure my KitchenAid will serve me well I doubt that in 50 years it will still be functioning unlike my current one. Sadly the newer Kenwoods don't seem to be as robust as the KitchenAid unless you want to spend money on a professional kitchen one or else I'd happily of replaced it with another "Chef".

I'm sure this Kenwood won't last the 30 years my old one did Caronc I remember growing up with a 1970s Kenwood mixer which my mum used for about 45 years, it was her pride and joy when brought from money earned by having foreign students one summer :)

Yesterday's lack of sleep caught up last night, woke to bright sunshine after 8, looks cold out but pleasant if walking among fallen leaves / along a beach etc I would think. .
I'll not be partaking in any of that:p

Usual porridge breakfast, and lunch will be last of the stale YS rolls with cheese & cuc.

I'll be glad to see the back of those rolls. I may nuke them for a few secs to "refresh" them, modern day pop stale loaf in oven trick. Or in today's parlance "hack", I hate that word:mad: Once I take over there will be changes:D

Dinner. I've taken a salmon fillet out to defrost, plus a baking spud is on red alert, thinking of salmon fillet, baked spud & use up salad. The fillet I may bake in tin foil parcel in oven with the spud, or pan fry in butter / olive oil. Depends how the day turns out

Belated happy birthday PN, hopefully the housing opportunities will pick up once the politicking & Christmas is out of the way

Years back I bought a Kenwood,

The ship was in Sydney at the time and Mr Wilson ensured the Australian dollars in my pocket went further than the pound in your pocket.

After some use once back in UK the china bowl cracked, at the time the Kenwood factory was close by, so I wrote & complained. Without quibble they sent a stainless steel as a replacement bowl. I call that good service

Drives me mad that word. It shouldn't because I understand that language evolves but it now somehow seems to mean 'aren't I clever for being able to display something thinly disguised as common sense'

The other one is 'content' (singular) ie 'stuff'. It doesn't matter what stuff, just so long as people click on it - which is why it's singular, not plural. The nature of the content is insignificant, unlike the contents of a book. Might have to start a new thread...

Why am I in this handcart and where are we going ?

    Good morning everyone,

I can live with "hack" and "content" but when I rule the world "gifted" :mad:will be banned......
Lovely looking loaf Farway hope it tastes as good:) , my current Kenwood Chef (an A701A ) has a bakelite bowl which tbh honest I thought might shatter or cracked as it feels quite brittle but nope it's a bit discoloured but still intact and has survived all sorts of mistreatment!
Cold again here this morning it was still -3C at 11am :eek:so I doubt even with the sun it will get much above freezing before it gets dark. It's supposed to warm up slightly in the early hours though. The bottom of my garden, which is in the shade, is an ice rink. I attempted a bin run as I wanted to put out my food caddy for collection tomorrow but had to give up. Unless the ice lifts a bit the caddy can wait until next week as there's not much in it just veg peelings and tea bags.
I've freed up a load of room in my big freezer by removing a big tub of boiling beef pieces that came from my Dad's freezer. They are very fatty but a make great stock & soup. I'll roast them when the oven is on later and then make stock & render the fat for dripping. The cooked meat I'll portion and refreeze. With the space created I should have plenty of room for my butcher's order.:)
Mushroom omelette for brunch and chicken thighs stuffed with haggis for dinner.
  • I've had vegan cream cheese and marmite on toast and a packet of lentil crisps.:)

I'm going to have the Plant Chef mushroom pizza with salad later.

I ate too many oven chips last week when I was running down my freezer.:rotfl:

The Tesco lentil crisps weren't that nice at all. You can get lovely ones from Holland & Barrett - chilli and lemon flavoured.:D

Gifted as in 'gifted a present' ? - yep another one on the list (I'd personally add 'tasked' too but it's been a long day)

Mrs Un is finally getting the tree trimmed with the help of the cat as the first part of the day was taken up with a planned trip to the vet and an unplanned mission to box up two flightcases because Parcelforce refuse to collect anything unless it's wrapped in cardboard, including flightcases...

Mrs Un is placated with more Spode, cat is placated with mild smoked salmon, I'm placated with 11 year old Tawny Port (11 because I bought it last year while on offer and ended up on chemo for Xmas. Vegan schnitzel for tea with roasties & kale from the garden

Why am I in this handcart and where are we going ?
