Spuds baking in the oven, salmon parcel will be added later

Ginger loaf sampled, I think recipe is a bit too heavy on the black treacle, next time I'll use more Golden Syrup, otherwise a success.
I may just slice & freeze some as it is supposed to be suitable for that

    Good evening everyone,

Yep "gifted" in that context really riles me - whenever I see or hear it my internal "Victor" voice starts screaming!!! Others liked tasked, hack and content irritate me but not as much though increasing use of "draw" instead of "drawer" (which I appreciate is probably a predictive text thing) also gets my hackles up. I see the "Apostrophe Society" has finally finally admitted defeat https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2019/dec/01/laziness-has-won-apostrophe-society-admits-its-defeat.....

Shame your ginger cake was a bit too treacly Farway, I find it can add a very bitter back note to things sometimes. A few years ago I was given (gifted:rotfl:) some rather expensive treacle cured bacon which I was really looking forward to eating but then didn't enjoy, all I could taste was bitter sugar.
My nephew popped by in the afternoon on his way home from work (he passes my door and realised that drinking loads of water during his shift then heading out in the cold may not have been the best idea;)) and obligingly took out my food caddy and restocked my stove fuel bins. He's not a bad lad.:D
The ice never lifted much except in the most sunny areas and the frost is settling again now. It is supposed to be milder come morning but we might get some snow flurries first:eek:. I doubt being on the coast we will but you never know.
I've sorted out and ordered pretty much everything Christmas pressie wise that I want to buy online. I've some gifts and bits of gifts still to organise but I'll buy those locally as I like to support local independant businesses where I can.

Dinner is prepped and just needs cooking, it won't take long- chicken thighs stuffed with haggis then roasted with a peppercorn sauce and nuke-steamed baby spuds, carrots and sprouts. :)

At least an advantage of the SE is limited snow if any :). Just as well as the local authorities have cut back a lot on the roads they are going to grit this year

Catch up day on the usual weekend chores, I also decided I had better start on the Christmas table runner I promised my sister, after all I've only had the fabric since January:whistle: she may get it for her Christmas Day table :p

I enjoyed the small beef joint I had last weekend so picked up another reduced and then YS :) I looked at the lamb joints as I'm fancying lamb (other than a small steak) but as I'm not too keen on cold lamb and lamb is expensive just for me I'll wait until I'm cooking for others and hopefully pick up a nice joint YS, the only YS piece I could see only had £1 off so not worth it. The mint sauce will have to wait :)

Lunch was quorn goujons in a pita with raw spinach and dinner roast beef with roast parsnips, roasted acorn squash and onions, braised celery, mash swede and carrot and the last of the red cabbage cooked a la Delia with the last of the cranberries. Enough LOs for tomorrow night as I have a quick turn around before going out after work. I also made some soup a lentil, sweet potato and pepper one (very nice so I bet I won't remember what I put in to be able to reproduce it :rotfl:) I blitzed the LO braised celery, leeks and stock to make one portion of soup, this time it's not too salty :D. Tomorrow will be a easy day lunch and dinner can both be pinged :D

I've very little food, but CBA to go out shopping; it's nigh on essential I do it tomorrow now...

Lunch: 1/2 tin of spag bol & last 2 bits of toast + bit of cheese.
Later: mac cheese. Nearly out of cheese now, just a 2"x1" piece remaining.

Tomorrow I plan to visit Mr T and avail myself of his cheap frozen goodies... a couple of those 67p pizzas, a couple of ready meals.

Must've been cold overnight, the heating cut in during the night, which woke me. Lots of car scraping outside this morning. Sun's out though

Bit of hammering from next door, white plumber's van outside, sounds like floorboards coming up for pipework. Not that they would tell me, keep themselves to themselves in proper Southern style ;)

Mixed bag for food today, porridge as per usual breakfast
Lunch, I've a use up apple so may become part of a ploughman's style meal, without a chunk of non existent bread

Dinner, somehow the LO cold pizza half is not that appealing right now but it has to be eaten. Maybe pop some baked beans on it? Which then leaves the perennial CFO problem of more LOs in shape of beans:(

    Good morning everyone,

No frost here this morning it's grey and drizzling. I can't say it feels much warmer though.
Domestic chores beckon this morning but apart from that I've not much planned. Unless it pours I'll probably replenish the indoor log stack but if it does I've enough inside still to keep me going for a couple of days.
Lunch will be a sandwich or soup and I'm trying the smoked tofu tonight.
  • It's really bright and sunny here. Quite chilly, though.

I'm just drinking water at the moment, not sure what to have to eat...

  • I've eaten loads today. I had crackers with vegan cream cheese, then I made pasta with tomato and chilli sauce. Crisps and white choccie buttons too.;):D

I think I will have mash, steamed veggies, gravy and sausages for dinner.

Went to L1dl, just fizzy pop, flatbreads and sweeties. Then went to Mr T. Picked up a lot of their 65-67p frozen meals: pizza, sweet/sour chicken, toad in the hole, bean/cheese melts, chicken curry, lasagne. I also got a loaf of bread. I just grabbed the melts, not reading, assumed there were two in the packet, a quick look online shows it's 4. They were £1, I was happy enough to try them "just for a change of what to cooK". https://www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/products/299390350

I also grabbed a tin of sweets from the entrance, where they have Q S, Heroes, Celebrations and Roses for £3.50 (instead of £5).... that's planned as a Xmas gift to somebody.

So there I was, buying my week's main meals for about £4 .... couple in front of me were buying a box of 6 boxed Moet/Chandon, two other boxes of wine, six individual bottles of drink, their bill £260.

    :)

I had a flatbread/2 fishcakes when I got back from the shop.

In a bit I'll go and see what I did buy and make a choice
