Did a nice long post and it disappeared, so now in bullet points:

    1) Les Mis - don't get on with musicals, but I'm fascinated in history. I was interested to see how the thing would get dramatised in the context of Hugo's vision - thoroughly enjoyed it, but still not tempted by the musical (Conversely, as a child of the 70's I'm happy with Jeff Lynne's War Of The Worlds, but found the BBC version, frankly ollox)

Edit (thanks to going down the rabbithole with Brian Pern on BBC iPlayer)

    2)

    3) Oh I give up...

Why am I in this handcart and where are we going ?
  • We got some vegan Richmond sausages today, yes I remember the 'real' ones to be quite smooth, if that makes sense.

Did a nice long post and it disappeared, :

Must be catching, it's just happened to me, mine was due to a Firefox update:(

Bright sunny morning but I'm in today, it's Christmas card sort out day. As Farway no Mates I don't send many except to distant rellies

I don't give a card to everyone in the volunteer place even though some do, same when I was working, cards to casual acquaintances are just not me

Today is also egg day, I seem to have a build up, all in date but a cull is needed

Lunch to be scrambled eggs on toast
Dinner to be mushroom omelette + HM chips
Les Mis - don't get on with musicals,
Nor me, never liked them, to me the singing just got in the way of the story
I'm happy with Jeff Lynne's War Of The Worlds, but found the BBC version, frankly ollox)
A second to that as well

  • I don't like musicals either for some reason. I did go to a candlelight classical music concert a couple of years ago and that was good.

I wouldn't mind going to a candlelight carol service this year, actually.

I had bran flakes with soya milk and a glass of orange juice this morning. They are the free from Tesco ones and they were quite nice.:)

    Good morning everyone,

Jeff Lynne's "War of the Worlds" is one of my favourite albums. My older cousin bought it when it first came out and I've adored it ever since:D. I was so disappointed to not be fit enough to go and see it when it toured a couple of years ago.:( I've not watched the current BBC drama yet but it can only be better than the dire Tom Cruise movie version!!

Wet, windy and cold here today, some of the gusts are quite fierce. I had intended to go to the library but I've shelved that no point in getting soaked if I don't need to.
After [STRIKE]some[/STRIKE] a lot of muttering I managed to get my new toy out of it's box and moved to where I want it to go. It's gorgeous and the mixing bowl is pretty much the same size as my Kenwood one which is helpful.:D I'm hoping to give it a test run at the weekend,
I do have a few Christmas cards to write and post, mainly to some of my ex's very elderly relatives who still keep in touch with me & the kids and a few friends in far flung places. I'm glad the routine giving of cards to Joe Bloggs et al is no longer a "thing".

I'm just enjoying a cuppa and a much needed sit down before starting to portion up the meat in the fridge and play freezer tetris. After that it will be scrambled eggs & mushrooms for lunch before I put my feet up for a bit. I'd no nocturnal mishaps last night but don't feel as though I've caught up properly with the missed sleep. Cottage pie with gravy and the last of the sprouts for dinner.
  • I just had a nice walk, it's lovely weather here, sunny, blue sky but a bit chilly.

I'm having pasta with the last of the jar of tomato and chilli sauce for lunch.

I'm having a mushroom pizza later. I'm adding some sweetcorn and pineapple to it and having it with a simple salad.:)

A sort of CBA for me tonight, got some sausages defrosted, got a very nice selection of mustards, fresh loaf of 50/50, some nice large shallots - it's going to be sausage sandwiches. Last night we had baked potatoes, but at the end popped in some LO roasties from the weekend - they were very dry with a chewy exterior but strangely comforting, like your first visit to a Berni Inn

  • I had forgotten about Berni Inn.:D

I was in the shop near me today and I saw a Christmas food/treats display and there were some Bendick's mint chocolates and next to them were York Fruits.

I had forgotten they existed. They remind me of being a kid.:p

    ...York Fruits.

I had forgotten they existed. They remind me of being a kid.:p

In the late 60s my mum's employer put on a kids' xmas party and at the end you met Santa and one year he gave out Meltis New Berry Fruits.

They're better than York, they have a liquid middle.... but they're harder to spot/justify buying :)

Re Berni, I've never been to one. We weren't an "eating out" family, Berni weren't cheap :)
