They have to alter a setting to allow you to activate the card reader. That happens a couple of days after ordering the reader... but IME well before there card reader arrives. Give it a day or two..Try tomorrow then. Looks like there's a 48 hour delay (which would make sense).
Have just spoken to NatWest and after informing me that there was no way another banks card reader could be used, the CS agent checked on a NatWest page and confirmed to me that it was possible to use anther banks reader, and that after working for the bank for 16 years this was the first time he was aware of this and vowed to circulate the information
But he did say it can take up to 3 days after the reader has been ordered/activated before the other banks reader can be used.
.Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0 -
Hi all,
Switching for the first time, it says the switching process will be done on the 24th February (Which is great!) but that is my pay day, how will this be affected? Do i need to tell someone or can i just leave it?
Thanks0 -

Tad confused.... My application for a Select Account on 12.1.18 went as easy as anything. All done and dusted in minutes. No request for me to upload any photo ID. Instantly given sort code and account number. Set up for online banking and the App in moments.
However, setting my OH up with a sole Select Account just after my application went through, a totally different experience.... Repeated requests to upload ID doc's to the Digi thing has been a nightmare. It accepted the driving licence and bank statement with big green ticks, then the following day asked to do them again as they weren't clear. So yesterday, he called into one of the NatWest branches armed with his Application No, driving licence and bank statement to be told they couldn't do them there and he'd have to call into another branch where they had Digi facilities. Cutting a long story short, he went to the other branch, queued for some time just to be told they were extremely busy and suggested he come back on Saturday!
!!!!!!!
He waited for a member of staff to be free to take the copies needed of his ID, and left afterwards, with an assurance they would be forwarded overnight and hopefully dealt with this morning. Alas, this morning another request to upload his ID on the Digi-thing.
I just don't get it, though. My application went through easy-peasy, and I am a zero earner, with zilch income of my own and his, as our bread winner can't get out of the starting blocks.
Yep, welcome to the house of fun...with a nod to that fine band Madness. Lol.0 -
You didn't want it to be lemon squeasy easy peasy did you? Some folk have to earn their £125- and others get it handed to them on a plate.
Such is life!! No rhyme or reason..........
It will be worth having.Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

My friend banks with RBS and his card reader looks like it's been through the wars; helped him set up a new payee yesterday and my Barclay's bank reader worked absolutely fine. It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.0 -
Just got the "getting started" email - love to but need the small details of sort/account/customer numbers before I can do anything, oh well wait a little longer I guess...0

2 points here - any payments into your old account after the switch will be automatically forwarded to your new account I believe for up to about 2 years however the second point is I would tell your company payment department that you work for your new bank details and not rely on the switching process getting through to them ditto any other payments that go to your account0 -
I have a Natwest Select account, a Natwest Reward account and a First Direct Donor account. If I switch my FD account will I get the 125 bonus or will I need to upgrade one of my Natwest accounts?0
