This mornings emails brought me my Customer No. with a promise of activation code by text within 48 hours. The cogs grind slowly on...

    LOL

This morning I received my activation code, 96 hours after it was promised 'within 48 hours'.

Girding my loins as I think I now have the final piece required for access to my account.

    Wish me luck with OLB.

Have just spoken to NatWest and after informing me that there was no way another banks card reader could be used, the CS agent checked on a NatWest page and confirmed to me that it was possible to use anther banks reader, and that after working for the bank for 16 years this was the first time he was aware of this and vowed to circulate the information

But he did say it can take up to 3 days after the reader has been ordered/activated before the other banks reader can be used..

Just done a transfer out using a Barclays card reader.

So all in all a week from applying to using completely, just the switch to happen tomorrow, Friday.

Snap. Applied last Friday. Application accepted same day, along with sort code and account number plus access to online banking. PIN and debit card arrived (separately) by Wednesday and £1500 transferred in and out (using old RBS card reader). Balance now zero. Switch from Halifax completes tomorrow, one week after opening. Switching balance will be £70 and will be moved out as soon as it hits Nat West. Account will be kept open until receipt of switch incentive (by 13 April, according to the switch incentive) T and Cs.

So far, all quick. But still room for problems ahead.

I have a customer number but no sort code, account number or activation code. Good job I'm not in any kind of hurry :D
  • good to hear you successful
As the Nat West web site shows the offer is also open to existing customers I thought I'd give it a go
I've just been told by the Sales team this is not in fact the case .
I challenged them on this drawing attention to their web site clearly stating that it is for existing customers but was told there had been some confusion about the wording !!!
    I'm disappointed

Why did you talk to the sales team?
You just need to talk to the switch team, and only then if you can't initiate the switch online.

Make the switch and do the £1500 funding by the deadlines. You'll then have a contract that is enforceable.

Sit back & wait for the bonus... or the compensation if it doesn't arrive.

If there is confusion it's theirs not yours.

No point in closing it when it could be used for another switch later!

And there's more, just had two texts saying Debit Card has been ordered and pin for Debit Card has been ordered...

Of course whenever they do turn up, and I finally manage to register for online banking, i'll still have to request a card reader before I can get any money out of the account after initial payin or switch...
