They've now cancelled the Private application and say they'll remove the search (takes 3 weeks). I can apply again for the Select account, and hope that the extra search won't work against me.
Do you actually see the credit search on your file ? If it has not been recorded it might be straight process as the matter is still in NW own hand.
As far as I know, it is a legal requirement that credit file, will need to be true reflection irrespective whether for good or bad reason. Any good reason or mistake will need to be explained in the notice of correction. Not to mention it will tarnish NW credibility regarding accuracy of their report to CRA.
So if a credit search has taken place how could they legally remove it ?
Would you please inform whether they actually manage to remove the search from your Credit File ?0 -
I finally had a text confirmation and an email this morning that my switch request will be completed by the 22nd. The new account is also showing online now. So all's well for me, and it appears they are slowly working through the applications.0

I now have 2 hard credit searches by Nat West , on 11 and 15 Jan.
My understanding is that all data "belongs" to the lender who can delete or alter it if necessary. I have certainly had erroneous searches removed before. A Notice of Correction can act as a temporary notice until the lender has looked into the issue and made a decision.
I'll advise if/when the first search is deleted.
My understanding is that the number of searches on one's report has a low correlation with being accepted for credit0 -
Does anyone know if its possible to apply for the offer both as a joint account and as a single account?0

Rec debit card today, very quick. No acc no on it though, sort code OK.
Switch started today.
Is it best to wait until the switch is complete to deposit the £1500 or does it not matter ? Also presumably you can take the £1500 straight back out again ?0 -

No you can't.
T&C's
Joint accounts will only be eligible for one payment.
You can only benefit from this offer once and we can withdraw it at any time.

As keiran says, I've been told a FI can remove the record of a search in certain circumstances - one of which is if the search was made in error. A system error which results in a search being carried out for a product the customer is not actually applying for would appear to justify removal on that basis.
I don't know what will happen with NatWest yet, but I have previously had a search deleted due to a bank system error."In the future, everyone will be rich for 15 minutes"0 -
Spoke to NW, who confirmed that my account switch started today. Logged into online banking already so all I have to do is put £1500 into my NW account. Very nice and easy for £165 (£40 for my complaint and £125 bonus).0
